Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1132: Chapter 924: The Slumbering Demon Lord

These Elder Mages like Haber always believed their intelligence and strategies far surpassed the magical talents granted to them by the heavens.

Even if they couldn’t transform themselves through their own efforts, at least they could elevate themselves above others.

Weren’t Elaströ and the Seven Sisters simply lucky enough to encounter the former Goddess of Magic because they lived long lives?

They certainly didn’t want to become anyone’s lackeys; as long as they could have the Demon Lord in their grasp... with the Toril Gods’ tendency to bully the weak, even if they hated them, what could they really do?

Having seen many Evil Gods and Devils commit atrocities on the Ferun Great Land yet manage to escape unscathed, they were full of confidence about their future.

These people seemed to never consider the possibility of their schemes failing.

If they offended Ambori, perhaps they would have a bit of hope.

If the Toril Gods were truly as generous as they appeared, how could those Demon Lords of the Bottomless Abyss behave so courteously?

Except for the Evil Gods, all other deities try to show their gentle side before their followers... even if they were decisive in killing, they could still be magnanimous.

Other matters would not be resolved publicly... just like how Six Fingers was caught in the Main World twice in a row... both times were after he mocked Valkin.

The timing was managed very well each time... once was when Six Fingers completely occupied three layers of the Abyss, and the Bottomless Abyss was about to elevate him to a status similar to a Double-headed Baboon.

When Six Fingers felt he was just a step away, he suddenly got an opportunity to successfully draw a perfect world into the Abyss.

Then he got detained.

The second time was when Double-headed Baboon’s subordinates betrayed, and Six Fingers planned to capitalize... the Witch Queen summoned and trapped him.

The first time was fine, at least Six Fingers remained a refined captive, but the second time... if he hadn’t gone in a male form, how would he and Valkin face different outcomes?

It seemed like these matters had nothing to do with the Toril Gods, but ever since then, even the most violent Double-headed Baboon only allowed his Demon Priests to preach in Toril.

Whereas those Evil Gods residing in the Abyss from Toril were quite active.

Since then, Toril and those Great Lords of the Bottomless Abyss tacitly agreed... for preaching, sacrifices, and other evil deeds, each would use their own means, whoever loses, just resigns themselves to fate.

But they must never publicly humiliate Toril again.

Those Demon Lords weigh their differences from Six Fingers, and until loopholes appear in Toril that they can exploit, they won’t waste too much effort in this world... their real enemies are always the Devils and other Demon Lords.

There are so many worlds; unless they form a mortal grudge, why would Demon Lords persistently fight against a flourishing world?

Their allure will always be the dying worlds.

Though most Toril people don’t understand these matters, those at high levels, like Elaströ, are quite aware.

Thus, when facing the troubles stirred by Evil Gods and Demons, they remain quite composed... though the lower level populace might suffer, they’re definitely not incapable of dealing with it.

However, the Haber family has been brainwashed by the defamation of the gods circulating in the shadows... it makes one wonder if they’ve read that part of the Cyrine Scripture which specifically curses the Toril Gods, leading them to believe they could commit so many deeds and still escape unscathed.

The Haber Mage’s face on the giant screen looked grim, evoking a sense of confusion and helplessness among the spectators.

Perhaps, deep down, they knew they were not as talented as a remarkable Archmage like Kelben nor as inherently elevated as the Demigods possessing bloodline, but dealing with some High-level Professionals like the Undead Tribe was no problem.

As long as the Undead Tribe’s numbers were so few that they couldn’t completely protect Edna, they had countless ways to capture Edna, and maybe even bring along that Half-Elf.

These guys’ hatred towards the Demigods surpassed those like Kelben from the Talented Faction... it’s no surprise as they had no idea that Kelben wasn’t the Kelben they knew.

In their minds, Black Staff was that kid of decent talent who slowly climbed to the Deepwater City’s upper echelon through hard work, finally receiving the Goddess of Magic’s favor, however, the real Kelben is the true grandchild of that good kid, a descendant of the pure High Elf’s Half-Elf.

He simply switched bodies, but what ran through him was the Elf Blood of the Demigods from ten thousand years ago.

That old Haber must have never seen Kelben, otherwise, how could that Black Staff possibly get along with them well?

Wouldn’t he just have knocked off the Haber family?

Kelben’s biological father was an Elf Noble escaping from Mis Zhunuo of Comanso!

Honestly speaking, once Hill realized how Elder Mage Habel got his High Knowledge Stone, he had a pity for Black Staff... he was wholeheartedly trying to rebuild the family, yet personally supported Haber stained with his family’s blood.

It’s a pity, the funniest part is that neither of them knew about the hatred between them.

But... Kelben will certainly know in the future.

He will realize what role the teleportation crystal handcrafted by the Goddess of Magic, given to the poor, oppressed Haber family from next door, played.

Hill couldn’t help but look up at the sky... The Tablets of Fate are truly terrifying!

Kelben defied the destiny arranged for him by the tablets, insisting on resurrecting by the favor of Mystra before the matter was settled, and the end was truly miserable... Killing someone and breaking their spirit doesn’t even begin to describe the malice of the tablets.

He even felt that his hatred for Kelben was getting weaker... Hill really thought that having Mystra grow to thoroughly detest the beloved general she had single-handedly elevated, and possibly even stripping him of his identity as a Chosen, was enough for Kelben to bear.

But it turned out that fate could be even more cruel.

Knowing everything, Kelben might not have enough willpower, or the courage to support him to continue living.

The Haber Mage on the grand screen was still in a daze... Their dullness clearly proved at this moment that their intelligence was certainly not higher than their talents.

But Hill understood, this was because the Elder Mage Habel finally realized that their scheming was more likely to fail... Taking too much advantage on the Path of Destiny, the day of backlash has finally arrived.

The always foggy eyes of Old Habel were instantly filled with red blood vessels... Their trump card had been used, and the Shadow Energy Core could not be used again shortly.

Yet the undead in front, not a single hair was lost!

As long as they could successfully sacrifice Edna, they could hide with the Demon Lord directly into the high-temperature magma layer below the earth’s veins, and when the World Gate opened again, they would directly open the gate according to the beacon to Mark City!

Moreover, their descendants were already hiding in a safe place, just waiting for the great success and they could hide behind the blade of the Lady of Pain and grow strong together with them!

But what to do now?

Wake up the Demon Lord prematurely?

But they had sacrificed hundreds of their clansmen’s lives to make that guy fall asleep!

Old Habel looked around... and the feet of those three old mages quickly retreated a step.

They wouldn’t sacrifice their own lives!

He looked down at the struggling Adanko... If nothing else works, they might have to see if Adanko’s meager Soul Force could awaken that demon!

Although doing so, Adanko’s soul would be completely obliterated, without even the chance to go to the Styx, but when he wanted to surpass Marko to become the Chief of the Habel, didn’t he say he was willing to give up his soul for the development of the family?

Old Habel straightened his chest with effort, let Adanko fulfill his promise!

But... that demon was always greedy, no one could guarantee if the faint Soul Fire of Adanko could let him smell the scent and awaken.

Old Habel frowned, knelt down, and gave Adanko a bottle of Soul Elixir... This was a Moon Soul Elixir he had bought at a high price from the Silvermoon Temple, capable of strengthening the soul, simply a life-saving potion for mages.

A bottle could at least let him live another 100 years!

If not forced, he would not bear to use it on others! Adanko is lucky!

Old Habel faced forward with a serious expression, now, just waiting to see if Adanko’s soul recovered first, or if the undead arrived first!

He turned his head and gazed at a Black Robe Mage on the far right: ”Damo, go stop those reinforcements! I allow you to use any means, even Long Saddle Town can be sacrificed.”

The mage called Damo’s face changed... The old guy wanted him to bear the sin of kin-murder!

What does it mean to be sacrificed!

He wanted him to blow up Long Saddle Town, trapping the undead underground!

He glanced up at the old thing, followed that fierce gaze at the Adanko lying on the ground... realized if he didn’t want to end up like this weak and helpless Clan Leader, he had to bear this black pot.

As for escape... they already committed such an enormous crime, surrounded by countless enemies nearby... Leaving the control of the old guy’s Demon Lord, he estimated he wouldn’t survive a day!

Damo slightly bent his waist, turned, and slid into the door... The black robe dragged on the ground, making a hissy-sound like his currently restless heart.

If back then, they chose to become a Lich, wouldn’t they be better off than the current situation?

Wanting to continue enjoying the mortal world’s delights, unwilling to become a Skeleton... But now?

What a joke, claiming to do anything for the family’s propagation, only to end up having to personally destroy your own homeland!

Damo gritted his teeth, fortunately, he had a backup plan, raising one of his descendants purely and naively, sent under Marko... Even if total annihilation, he would still have a trace of bloodline to remain in the world!

Damo gently raised his head, looking at the center of the magnificent hall, that stone throne firmly locked by massive nine-sided crystal cones, on which lay a red-haired giant gorilla over 20 meters tall, sleeping soundly.

He gritted his teeth, quickly left through another door.
