Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1124: Chapter 916: The Haber Family Wanting to Leave Toril

Regarding Celene’s inquiry, Hill actually has some understanding, but he can’t explain it.

How the Undead Tribe managed to clear such large, safe, danger-free tracts of land in Neverwinter Valley so quickly is definitely because they used their packages very flexibly.

Doing so, at least when a trap is triggered, people can be a little further away, and if they’re lucky, they survive... It’s hard to imagine how much blood and tears it took to become so clever.

Moreover, Hill also saw some bricks from the Succubus Queen’s palace on Giant’s Ridge Mountain, probably because someone also participated in the activity of dismantling the palace to sell, but either forgot or thought the money wasn’t worth the hassle, so they didn’t care.

After all, neither Hill nor the Temple of Time and Space planned to collect those broken tiles and bricks, unless they sold them at garbage prices... The Undead Tribe could only sell to some Toril junk dealers or Wandering Traders who specialize in collecting these things.

But these small traders have limited money, and those who can come up with ten thousand gold coins are wealthy merchants, so many from the Undead Tribe can only try their luck in a few cities to see who first meets these tired traders willing to buy.

Luckily, the value of these things remains, and merchants are very willing to buy at a bargain, otherwise, the Road Eunuchs who treat the matter as a great discovery would get scolded to death.

For many who rely on daily tasks to get rich, over a thousand gold coins are still worth the trouble, but for the Black Rose and Magic Cult who like to find fun in games, often spending money to buy gold coins in PVP, it’s a bit too difficult to scavenge all over for merchants who can buy.

They can only gamble on their luck.

Not only are there those broken remnants, many in the Undead Tribe also have copper iron ore they dug up along the way... then they are too lazy to refine it, selling that kind of thing is not worth it... but letting it go is out of the question since they bent down and dug it themselves!

Strength can be wasted, but never in vain.

In essence, many rather keep these things in their package waiting for the right opportunity, than just throw them away.

Fortunately, this time there’s a good reason, everyone took the opportunity to clean their packages... in doing so, they’ve also earnestly contributed to family merit!

Although the merit points earned are not high, it’s at least not given for nothing.

So the high platform they built, thanks to adding some high-level materials, turned out to be quite sturdy.

At least when Elvia was jumping around to test its stability, the three-meter-high platform didn’t wobble at all.

I wonder why this time the enemy gave the Undead Tribe such ample preparation time... When a section of the stone wall on the eastern side fell down with a crash, the Undead Tribe even had time to gather their knights at the east side of the platform.

Even Leonard had enough time to rush over and grow the thorns on that side to three meters high.

So even if the enemies appearing seem strong, no one on the stone platform, whether from the Undead Tribe or Toril people, felt panic-stricken.

Dozens of coal-black fur, with fiery red eyes, muscled, full of violent killing intent in their gaze, and silver horns on their heads, these creatures slowly crossed the empty space towards the high platform from the east side.

So it’s Dark Unicorns!

These wicked creatures are crafted from unicorns soaked in devil blood and other concoctions... The Haber Family truly lives up to its name as a mage family in the Toril World!

Be it demon or devil, good or evil, if it’s of value, it all ends up on their experiment table.

Leonard and Josanie were quite furious, the fairy dragon watching those unicorns that have lost their minds, angrily let out a shrill cry... The Unicorn Goddess and Josanie’s origin, the Lost Peak, have always been closely associated.

The furious charge of the Dark Unicorns suddenly stuttered before they reached the high platform, and this was enough for the knights in the front row to flawlessly fend off their attack.

Even if these unicorns shattered her illusions, Josanie’s shriek never stopped, she was nearly despairingly shouting: ”Relieve them! Give them relief!

Ahhh! Damn Haber! I will kill them all!”

Leonard, although he said nothing, also stopped conserving his mana, and the thorns by the eastern wall rapidly grew, almost instantly reaching eight or nine meters high.

The dark brown vines covered in deep green thorns, the wrist-thick vines hung with leaf clusters like baskets, when those Dark Unicorns passed by, the clusters snapped open, each blade behaving like a knife slashing across the unicorns’ bodies... The ceaseless suction noises revealed to everyone the terrifying nature of the Nature Mage.

”These were specially prepared for Leonard, weren’t they?” Celene understandingly pointed out.

Hill understood what Celene meant... As long as these unicorns hadn’t perished utterly, Leonard and his fairy dragon wouldn’t be able to do anything else.

Those close to nature detested these creatures’ very existence.

Hill too, watching those Dark Unicorns on the giant screen, felt a wave of nausea... If not for suppressing that impulse with rationality, he might have rushed over and intervened.

”The Haber Family surely has ties with Sel.” Shaer said icily.

Dark Unicorns, they were created by the Red Robe Mages... In Sel, there are several female legions using these creatures as mounts.

Even turning into evil creatures, unicorns still only allow evil female humans or Dark Elves to ride them.

Hill frowned... And that’s why he dares not travel the Ferun Great Land.

He really couldn’t guarantee that he could keep silent in the face of such cruel means.

But even the Natural Divine System didn’t declare war on Sel; how could an outsider like him have the right to meddle in such matters?

Hill’s heart, which had been tumbling just moments ago, finally stabilized... He quietly continued watching the battle on the giant screen.

”Who will the next wave of enemies target?” Celene asked curiously, ”It should be the Undead Tribe, right?”

”That White Dragon,” Shaer argued back, ”The Haber Family is after Edna, so they must lure away the two strongest by her side.

As for the Undead Tribe, no matter how strong they are, they don’t have Transcendents; the Haber Family can still afford the 30-level Transcendent Assassin.”

Hill couldn’t help but glance at that big tree... Among Toril’s notable Transcendent Assassins, they were either followers of Mask or under Cyric’s command.

Shaer probably even knew exactly which individuals the Haber Family had hired.

The silver-blue moonlight in the pool seemed to express Celene’s displeasure, writhing a bit: ”I don’t believe it! How could the White Dragon Queen be stronger than the Undead Tribe!

Are you just trying to contradict me?”

Even Hill’s temples twitched slightly... Was Celene once again bored?

Shaer, who was usually calm, seemed startled by her sister’s sudden theatrics and hesitated to speak.

Fortunately, a few more undead Bone Dragons already charged down on the screen... From their not-so-large, rather slender skeletal frames, it could be seen they were White Dragons modified by Necromancers.

”Ah!” Elvia suddenly shouted angrily, ”Damn it! How dare you dig up the White Dragon Cemetery! Haber Family! I’ll make sure you have no place to rest in peace!”

She soared swiftly, heading straight for those Bone Dragons, which clearly lacked any intelligence.

”Sanda King Sister! Help Elvia!” Edna shouted anxiously.

Although Elvia was an Ancient White Dragon, facing five mindless and pain-insensitive Undead Dragons was quite dangerous.

’Old Age Striking King’ stretched out her hand, and an Ancient White Dragon surged out from her wrist, rushing directly towards Elvia’s battlefield without a word being spoken.

The Undead Tribe stirred slightly, and soon, over a dozen White Dragons appeared above them... all of which were older, the kind whose intelligence had already stabilized.

The ones who had just come of age were not released.

”Hmm...” Celene, who had just been acting insane, instantly calmed down, ”This is a real strike~ The Haber Family has been exposed for nothing!

Digging up a Dragon’s Tomb, even those Dragon Lich who have abandoned their Giant Dragon identity from the Dragon Worship Church will not let the Haber Family off.”

”It’s clear they’re not planning to stay in Toril anymore.” Shaer finally said, ”They probably plan to sacrifice Edna and then escape to Mark City with the whole family.”

Hill understood Shaer’s meaning; if the Haber Family could find a way to hide until Toril World opened to the outside again, they would certainly open a portal to Mark City to escape.

And before that, with the protection of a Demon Lord firmly under their control, hiding in the Underdark would be easy for them.

No matter how much the Giant Dragons hated them, even if the Chromatic Dragon Queen were alerted, the Haber Family living under Lady of Pain’s protection would still fare well... Mark City can expand infinitely; they don’t think they’d have a hard time staying there.

They didn’t go before because the Haber Family lacked the ability, but now, who can deal with them when they have a powerful Demon Lord under their control?

Hill sneered disdainfully: ”Dreams that beautiful will indeed invite divine retribution.”

Celene laughed, ”When White Dragons go mad, they are quite strong!”

The Bone Dragons were indeed insane, even as they were torn to pieces by those White Dragons, they still tried to attack everything around them.

But the Undead Priests below kept throwing Holy Spells upwards, and the Holy Rain in the sky continued without pause, making the movements of the Bone Dragons increasingly slow.

When a large enough crack was made in the head of one Bone Dragon, the Soulfire, which came into direct contact with the Holy Rain, suddenly stalled.

The Bone Dragon, plummeting to the ground, let out a peculiar, tragic hiss... The Holy Magic indeed made it unbearable, but it also made it recall some of its past.

Upon hearing the hiss, the White Dragons became even more frenzied.

The mastermind behind the scenes, realizing something was wrong, swiftly sent out a third batch of enemies... From the hastily descending figures, it was clear they hadn’t planned to act so soon.

The Haber Family’s Mage Army had arrived.
