I Married the President

Chapter 150: Chapter 150: I’m Waiting for You

”Why aren’t you asleep yet?” Adrian Quincy suddenly spoke, startling Claire Sinclair, who was lost in her own little world.

Claire Sinclair whipped around, her legs clamping together as her heart inexplicably began to pound out of rhythm.

”Um... I... I can’t sleep...” Claire Sinclair almost blurted out, ”I was waiting for you.”

’I wanted to know what time he usually goes to bed. I wanted to understand him better...’

Adrian Quincy walked up to her. He slipped an arm around her waist, suddenly pulling her into his embrace. He looked down, their eyes meeting.

Even though he was dressed, Claire Sinclair could still feel the scorching heat of his body, as hot as the blood flowing through his veins. This sensation, so real yet so dreamlike, made her willing to lose herself to him completely.

She couldn’t help but lift her head, seeking out his thin lips and slowly claiming his tenderness. She wanted to become one with him, to never be apart.

...

Afterward.

Claire Sinclair was thoroughly exhausted and soon fell into a deep sleep.

Adrian Quincy showered and returned to bed, but felt no desire to sleep. He sat beside the slumbering girl, tablet in hand, mulling over what had happened at the hotel that night.

The room was dark, illuminated only by the moonlight filtering in through the window and the glow from the tablet.

The girl suddenly turned over. As if sensing the light from the tablet, she slowly opened her eyes. Seeing that he was still sitting up, her drowsiness vanished in an instant.

”Why aren’t you sleeping?” Claire Sinclair asked, her eyes fixed on the perfect contours of his face.

Adrian Quincy looked down to meet her gaze and said in a low voice, ”I’m about to.”

”Don’t just say you’re ’about to,’ lie down and sleep now. What time is it...” As she spoke, Claire Sinclair suddenly sat up and made a move to get out of bed.

Adrian Quincy grabbed her arm. ”Where are you going?”

”To pee...”

”...”

A rather awkward topic.

When Claire Sinclair came back from the bathroom and got back into bed, she found that he was still sitting up, staring at his tablet.

’What on earth is he doing instead of sleeping?’

Mustering a sudden burst of courage, Claire Sinclair snatched the tablet from him. ”What are you looking at that’s keeping you from sleeping? Let me see, too.”

The next second, her eyes flew wide. She stared in astonishment at the sentence on the tablet—”On June 2nd, you are cordially invited to witness The Prankster Alliance’s carnival party. May you all be overflowing with evil.”

’It’s that mysterious hacker again!’

Adrian Quincy suddenly reached out, smoothly took the tablet back, and placed it on the nightstand. ”Let’s sleep,” he said gently, then lay down on the bed.

Claire Sinclair burrowed into his arms like a clingy kitten, snuggling against his chest. She cautiously tested the waters. ”I saw it. What does that sentence mean?”

”Someone is provoking us. Something might happen on June 2nd, and I’m trying to figure out what they’re planning.”

”Did you take a picture of that from a computer screen?”

”Yeah.”

Claire Sinclair pretended to offer a casual reminder. ”My best friend once recommended a foreign TV show to me. It was all about hackers who use the internet to commit crimes. Some hackers like to issue a challenge online first and then go on a rampage, messing with traffic lights, hospitals, campus social networks... Basically, any workplace connected to the internet could become their target.”

At her words, Adrian Quincy’s brow furrowed, and he remained silent.

Thinking she had said something wrong, Claire Sinclair quickly backtracked. ”Maybe I’ve just been watching too much TV. Don’t worry about it. I’m going to sleep...”

”Claire,” the man said suddenly.

Claire Sinclair replied instinctively, ”Hmm?”
