I Married the President

Chapter 141: Chapter 141: One More Battle Robe

Adrian Quincy politely declined. ”I’m not suited for this kind of event. You go have fun. I’ll be watching you.”

”You’re going to spy on me again!” Claire Sinclair was immediately upset, assuming he was going to have her followed again.

Adrian Quincy’s cold eyes narrowed, his tone stern. ”If I truly wanted to spy on you, you would be completely unaware. Claire, I just want you to know that my men won’t show themselves unless it’s absolutely necessary.”

The implication of his words suddenly hit Claire Sinclair. ”So, you’re saying that when that lecherous old man was harassing me, you were watching from the shadows the whole time?”

Adrian Quincy nodded.

”Then why didn’t you show yourself sooner? He was utterly disgusting!”

”I’m sorry,” Adrian Quincy apologized in a low voice.

’Of course, he wasn’t going to tell her that he hadn’t actually seen it with his own eyes. His subordinates had relayed the message, and he had appeared before her as quickly as he could.’

Seeing how sincere he was, Claire Sinclair couldn’t bring herself to stay angry.

”Forget it. I can’t blame you for something like this. I was just unlucky.”

Adrian Quincy’s tone softened. ”Claire, stay away from Ethan Kingsley from now on. Don’t get too close to him.”

”Uh... you saw that, too?”

Adrian Quincy gave a slight nod.

Claire Sinclair surprisingly felt a pang of guilt. She lowered her head and said, ”I was just nervous, my feet were frozen—Mmph!”

Before she could finish, the man’s lips crashed down on hers again.

It was a kiss to stake his claim, laced with punishment. Fierce and possessive, he devoured her soft, vulnerable lips, and the situation quickly spun out of control.

’I can’t take it anymore... This guy is kissing me too fiercely, I’m about to suffocate...’

Claire Sinclair’s brow furrowed deeply. Her small hands pressed against his solid chest as she tried to push him away.

As if sensing her discomfort, Adrian Quincy abruptly released her lips. He leaned in close to her ear, his voice hoarse with restraint. ”My jacket... don’t take it off. Go on down.”

With that, the man took a step back.

Claire Sinclair instantly felt the chill recede, and the tension vanished along with it, as if she had just survived a disaster.

Adrian Quincy reached out to adjust the suit jacket on her shoulders, as if to emphasize that this piece of his armor—and he himself—remained with her.

Claire Sinclair muttered under her breath, ”If I go down wearing your suit jacket, won’t people think I’m some kind of weirdo?”

”Your beauty already sets you apart. The jacket makes no difference.”

”...”

’Was that his roundabout way of calling me beautiful?’

Claire Sinclair found his words surprisingly pleasing. A faint smile touched her lips. ”Alright, I’m going down now. You have to wait for me.”

”Mhm,” Adrian Quincy nodded.

As Claire Sinclair started to turn, the man suddenly pulled her in by her slender waist, giving her one last, long kiss before finally letting her go.

Back in the second-floor grand hall, Claire Sinclair, as expected, drew many eyes. She could feel people’s questioning gazes on the black jacket she wore, but for some reason, she didn’t feel the least bit uncomfortable.

The host had already taken the stage in the center of the hall. The most crucial part of the M2L gala was about to begin: the ceremony to announce the new brand ambassador.

Reporters had already secured the best spots, hoisting DSLRs and video cameras, their lenses all trained on the stage.

Claire Sinclair stood in a relatively quiet corner, watching the stage from a distance.

CLICK...

The lights suddenly dimmed, leaving a single spotlight on the stage. The host’s voice boomed enthusiastically, ”Next, please welcome the President of M2L Group, Ethan Kingsley, to the stage! Young Master Kingsley will personally announce the name of our new brand ambassador! Let’s give a round of applause for Young Master Kingsley!”

As soon as the words left his mouth, thunderous applause erupted from the audience.
