I Married the President

Chapter 130: Chapter 130: Can’t Handle It Alone

He strode over and grabbed Claire Sinclair by the arm. ”You bitch, who were you just calling a dumbass?”

Claire Sinclair froze, not expecting him to get physical. A wave of fear washed over her and her mind went blank. She struggled instinctively. ”What do you think you’re doing? Get your hands off me!”

”So what if I touch you, you bitch? You got the guts? Say it again!”

The words had barely left his mouth when Phoebe Lockwood suddenly emerged from the building. She rushed to stop him. ”Cousin, what are you doing here? Let her go, now!”

’This moron of a cousin is always throwing Dad’s name around to bully people. How dare he cause a scene right in front of the Astoria Daily building? Is he trying to ruin Dad?!’

At that moment, Phoebe Lockwood had to ignore the fact that Claire Sinclair was a thorn in her side. Her only thought was to stop her cousin’s foolishness.

The handsome blond man glanced at Phoebe Lockwood. Far from backing down, he grew even more brazen. Still gripping Claire Sinclair’s arm, he whined, ”Vera, you’re just in time! This ungrateful woman had the nerve to call me names—”

”I told you to let go! Didn’t you hear me?” Phoebe Lockwood snapped, startling the handsome blond man.

The blond man instinctively let go and asked in a hushed voice, ”Vera, what’s wrong?”

Phoebe Lockwood whispered in his ear, ”Apologize to her. Now.”

”What? Why should I—”

”Apologize. Immediately!”

Faced with Phoebe Lockwood’s forceful tone, the blond man didn’t dare to push his luck. He reluctantly said to Claire Sinclair, ”Hey beautiful, my bad about just now.”

Claire Sinclair glanced at the pair. Catching sight of a familiar car pulling up out of the corner of her eye, she said nothing and headed straight for the understated black sedan.

When Phoebe Lockwood and the blond man saw the prominent ”Quincy” insignia at the start of the license plate number, their hearts leaped into their throats.

In Aridia, only official cabinet vehicles had license plates that began with such an insignia.

A license plate starting with the ”Quincy” insignia was unmistakably a vehicle from Quincy Manor.

It was only after they watched Claire Sinclair get into the car that the two of them snapped back to their senses.

The blond man’s voice trembled as he asked, ”Vera, what’s that woman’s connection to Quincy Manor?”

”How should I know!” Phoebe Lockwood retorted resentfully.

’What the hell is so special about that damn bitch Claire Sinclair? Not only did she catch M2L’s eye, but now she’s getting into a private car from Quincy Manor!’

At that moment, Phoebe Lockwood was wild with jealousy.

...

Once in the car, Claire Sinclair heaved a long sigh of relief. She said to Aiden Howkins, who was driving, ”Aiden, can you stop at Splendor Plaza in a bit? I need to buy a dress.”

Aiden Howkins smiled. ”Young Madam, you’re looking to buy an evening gown, correct? Young Master Quincy has already selected one for you. He instructed me to take you directly to the styling salon. The dress is waiting for you there.”

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. ’Don’t tell me Adrian Quincy has people watching me at the newspaper office, too?’

’Can’t a person get a little personal space?!’

The thought annoyed Claire Sinclair. ”How did he know I needed an evening gown?”

”Young Master Quincy had someone make inquiries last night. Young Madam, he isn’t monitoring you. He’s just worried about you, which is why he made these arrangements.”

”I don’t want his concern, and I don’t want his dress. If you’re not going to take me to Splendor Plaza, then pull over. I’ll get there myself.”

Aiden’s heart sank. ’It’s over. The Young Madam is still furious. I don’t think I can handle this on my own.’

”Young Madam, these are Young Master Quincy’s orders. If I fail to complete this task, I’ll be subject to military discipline. Why don’t you give him a call yourself and tell him?”
