I Married the President

Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Oppa from a Neighboring Country

After replying to the message, Claire Sinclair immediately typed out a string of code to block their auto-reply.

A few seconds later, a new page popped up on her computer: ”You are cordially invited to The Prankster Alliance’s party on June 2nd. Those who receive this and fail to attend will face the consequences.”

Heh...

Claire Sinclair laughed coldly. ’Everyone dies eventually. If I have to go, it might as well be for a worthy cause. But to die like a coward? That’s something I could never do.’

’On that day, I’ll make them understand that darkness can never defeat justice.’

Claire Sinclair shut down her computer, slipped it back into its bag, then stood up and walked out of the room.

...

「Computer Mall.」

Claire Sinclair browsed for a long time, walking from aisle to aisle, before finally choosing a mid-range laptop priced at just 8,000 yuan.

She planned to use this computer for work and writing, so she didn’t need top-of-the-line specs.

However, to throw those people off her trail, she couldn’t buy it under her own name.

’The fact that they’re targeting me must be related to the real-name registration system. So, I have to ask his opinion before I buy it.’

She picked up her phone and sent a message to Adrian Quincy: ”Mr. Quincy, I want to buy a laptop.”

She waited a long time before the man finally replied: ”Have you picked out a model?”

Claire: ”Mhm, I’ve already picked one out.”

Adrian Quincy: ”If you’ve chosen one, just buy it. You don’t need my permission.”

Claire: ”I have my own money, but I left in a hurry and forgot my bank card. I don’t have any funds on my phone either, so I’ll temporarily use your card. I’ll pay you back when I get home.”

She waited for what felt like an eternity, but he didn’t reply.

She was just thinking he must be busy when her phone suddenly rang. The caller ID read: Adrian Quincy.

Claire Sinclair froze for a second, then quickly answered the call. ”Mr. Quincy!”

”Where are you? I’ll come over.”

”I’m at the computer mall. Are you finished with your business?”

”I wasn’t busy. Which computer mall?”

Claire Sinclair thought about the news story from that morning, and a pang of sadness hit her. ”Um, I saw the news,” she said. ”You don’t have to be so upset. Even though the hero was lost, we’re still alive, which means we can still do a lot of meaningful things—”

Before she could finish, she thought she heard him chuckle softly on the other end.

Claire Sinclair’s eyes darted about. She found she couldn’t continue with her words of comfort, so she changed tack. ”Anyway, what I mean is, as long as we stay on the righteous path, we can honor the memory of the fallen hero.”

Adrian Quincy’s voice was low and serious. ”Claire, just tell me where you are. I’m coming to you.”

”Okay... I’m at New Century Computer Mall.”

”Wait for me there.” With that, he hung up.

Claire Sinclair put her phone back in her pocket and turned her gaze back to the laptop she had her eye on. She was just about to move the mouse to try it out when a large, slender hand shot out and grabbed it first.

The person skillfully pulled up a new page, gave the computer’s specs a quick once-over, and then rapidly typed out a string of code.

A moment later, he released the mouse and turned his head to look at Claire Sinclair.

It was only then that Claire Sinclair got a clear look at his face.

He had a sharp, V-shaped jaw, slender, upturned eyes, and a chiseled nose. His features were exquisite, but his eyes held a profound depth that seemed at odds with his devilishly handsome face.

He didn’t look like he was from around here; he looked more like a Korean celebrity.

The man suddenly started speaking, but it was in a language she couldn’t understand.

Claire Sinclair gave him an apologetic look. ”I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you’re saying. Could you speak English or Mandarin?”

The man immediately switched to English. ”This computer doesn’t meet its advertised specifications,” he said. ”It’ll get very laggy over time and won’t last long. I’d advise you to pick a different brand.”
