I Married the President

Chapter 128: Chapter 128: The Legendary Plight of Love

Claire Sinclair instinctively looked up. She’d almost forgotten that man had installed cameras in the house. He could see her every move from Quincy Manor.

’This feeling of being watched was awful!’

Claire Sinclair’s tone was sharp. ”I wasn’t planning on going anywhere.”

”In a bad mood?”

”No.”

”Claire, you seem upset.”

Claire Sinclair let out a dry laugh. ”Mr. Quincy, if I installed a few cameras where you live to monitor your every move, would you be happy?”

Adrian Quincy was honest, at least. ”I didn’t install any in the bedroom.”

Claire Sinclair: ”...”

As if sensing her skepticism, Adrian Quincy explained, ”I only installed the cameras to ensure your safety.”

’Evergreen Garden is one of the safest communities in Aethelgard, and the city itself is perfectly safe. What a lame excuse!’

Claire Sinclair felt his actions were completely unnecessary, perhaps even malicious. She protested, ”This community is perfectly safe. Please take the cameras down, or I’m moving out!”

”Claire, I can’t agree to that. If you insist on moving out, I’ll have people protect you covertly, but I don’t think that would be a wise choice.”

”That’s none of your business!” Claire Sinclair snapped, then hung up the phone.

’She was an adult, not some delicate flower in a greenhouse. Who the hell needed this kind of suffocating protection?’

Tch...

Claire Sinclair scoffed in disdain and turned to walk up to the second floor.

’Since there weren’t any cameras in the bedroom, she’d just stay in there. Then he wouldn’t be able to see her.’

「Quincy Manor.」

In his quiet office, Adrian Quincy sat at his desk, his gaze fixed on the empty surveillance feed. He couldn’t get the image of her pretty, sulking face out of his mind.

”Nancy Lockwood,” he called toward the door.

Nancy Lockwood entered, assuming her boss had an order for her. ”Young Master Quincy, you called?”

”If it were you, would you be okay with your husband installing cameras in the house?”

”...”

Nancy Lockwood was struck speechless. She never thought the aloof Young Master Quincy would ask such a question.

’Is this what they call being lovesick?’

Seeing Adrian Quincy’s impatient expression, Nancy Lockwood quickly answered, ”Objectively speaking, I could accept such an arrangement. But from a wife’s perspective, installing cameras is indeed a bit... inappropriate for a woman.”

”Why is it inappropriate?”

”Well, what if I wanted to prepare a surprise for the man I love, but my husband already knew my every move? Or what if I got my period and accidentally stained my clothes, and the person I care about saw it... Young Master Quincy, if you were in that position, how would you feel?”

Adrian Quincy’s brow furrowed. No wonder Claire was angry with him. It seemed he was beginning to understand why.

When he didn’t say anything, Nancy Lockwood couldn’t help but ask, ”Young Master Quincy, why do you ask?”

Adrian Quincy said gravely, ”Claire was about to go out just now. She might be in some kind of trouble. Go find out if anything happened at the newspaper agency today.”

Nancy Lockwood gave a military salute. ”Yes, sir!”

Adrian Quincy’s gaze returned to the monitor. He reached out, typed on the keyboard, and shut off the surveillance feed.

He then picked up his phone and sent her a text: *Claire, I’ve turned off the cameras. Get some rest tonight.*

He waited for a long time, but no reply came, and his spirits sank.

’Claire, are you still angry?’
