I Married the President

Chapter 148: Chapter 148: Seeing the Guests Out

Aiden Howkins held his breath and reported in a rush, ”Young Master Quincy, we just spotted the international fugitive ’Shadow’ on the surveillance cameras inside the hotel. Please evacuate immediately!”

Shadow was just the codename for an assassin from ”Wild Cherry House,” Country J’s most notorious assassination syndicate. They had long been at the top of Aridia’s blacklist.

No one knew where Wild Cherry House’s base was, but wherever they appeared, assassinations and conspiracies were sure to follow.

It was no wonder Aiden Howkins was so panicked. At this very moment, the most likely target for an assassination by Wild Cherry House was none other than the master of Quincy Manor, a future presidential candidate.

Adrian Quincy said in a low voice, ”Deploy more men. First, ensure the safety of everyone in the hotel. Sweep every corner. If you find a threat, eliminate it immediately.”

”Young Master Quincy...”

”What are you waiting for?”

”Yes, sir!” Aiden Howkins acknowledged the order and left with several men.

The remaining men escorted Adrian Quincy toward the bustling main hall.

Quiet music played in the hall as aristocrats and pseudo-aristocrats conversed elegantly, no one aware that the hotel had been infiltrated by dangerous individuals.

That is, until Adrian Quincy arrived, drawing everyone’s gaze.

The dignified figure’s pace was hurried. He exuded the aura of a king, and the air around him seemed to chill by several degrees.

Adrian Quincy cut through the crowd, finally stopping in front of Ethan Kingsley, who was chatting with several women, abruptly interrupting the man’s flirtations.

”End the banquet. Now.”

”Young Master Quincy, what are you—”

Before Ethan Kingsley could finish, the muzzle of a gun was suddenly pressed against his chin.

Adrian Quincy applied more pressure, digging the muzzle into his skin, and said, enunciating each word, ”End the banquet immediately, or face the consequences.”

Ethan Kingsley’s brow furrowed slightly. Although he was far from pleased about having a gun pointed at his head, he understood Adrian Quincy’s character.

Adrian Quincy wouldn’t do something like this unless it was an emergency.

In the end, Ethan Kingsley was a rational man. He turned and ordered his subordinates, ”The banquet is over. See the guests out.”

Having received their orders, several subordinates immediately moved to disperse the crowd.

Adrian Quincy put his gun away and turned to leave.

Ethan Kingsley grabbed his arm. ”Adrian Quincy, what’s going on?”

”I’m not necessarily their target. It could just as easily be you. You’re on your own.” Adrian Quincy shook off his hand and strode into the panicked crowd.

A moment later, Adrian Quincy grabbed hold of Claire Sinclair, who was being jostled by the crowd.

Before she could ask any questions, he quickly led her out of the main hall.

His pace was fast and his expression was grave. Claire Sinclair realized something must have happened, so she didn’t say a word.

Finally, once they were in the car, the world grew quiet.

Claire Sinclair turned to look at the man’s handsome, silent face and asked in a small voice, ”Mr. Quincy, what happened?”

The man replied nonchalantly, ”It’s nothing.”

’It’s obviously something!’

Claire Sinclair pouted. ’Fine, don’t tell me then.’

As if sensing the girl’s displeasure, Adrian Quincy turned to look at her downcast face and explained matter-of-factly, ”Dangerous individuals broke into the hotel. I’ve already sent people to investigate.”

”Dan-dangerous individuals?” The realization dawned on Claire Sinclair, and her heart leaped into her throat.

’To think something like that could happen at an event like this!’

Adrian Quincy reached out and took her small hand. ”Justice still prevails. No one will be allowed to stain this land we stand on with blood.”

The man’s gentle voice ended on a heavier note, filled with absolute resolve.

’There it is again...’

’That blood-pumping feeling.’
