Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1245: 1244 do you like me too?

After finishing lunch, the two left the restaurant and walked together to the parking lot.

Perhaps because the lunch was so delightful, Gu Kai gentlemanly opened the car door for Bai Yiyi, who reluctantly muttered a “thank you” before bending over to sit in the car.

Behind them, in a certain van, someone took several photos of Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi in quick succession.

Gu Kai, as if sensing something, suddenly turned his head to look around, but there was no one in the parking lot. He furrowed his brow, closed the car door, walked around the vehicle, and sat in the driver’s seat.

“Do you notice if someone seems to be…”

Gu Kai got in the car, but did not immediately fasten his seatbelt. Instead, he turned to Bai Yiyi, who was beside him, and asked.

“What do you mean? If it’s not a person, could it be a ghost?” Bai Yiyi thought Gu Kai might be going on about something nonsensical again.

Gu Kai frowned, speaking earnestly, “I felt like someone was behind us just now, but there’s not a single person in this parking lot. It’s really strange.”

Bai Yiyi shivered theatrically, wrapping her arms around herself, “Gu Kai, don’t scare me in broad daylight. I’m faint-hearted. If anything is following us, it must be a person, not a ghost. Moreover, it would definitely be a woman.”

“Why?”

Gu Kai was still looking outside the window, he casually asked upon hearing her words.

“Because you, Dr. Gu, are handsome, and all those women are smitten with you. Oh, I have a secret to tell you.”

Bai Yiyi said this and recalled the encounter with Wei Jingshan at the mall’s café, a smile forming in her eyes.

Gu Kai shifted his gaze back to her, his lips curving into a slight smile as well, “What secret?”

“I forgot which day exactly, I ran into Fang Zhiwei at the mall. She invited me for coffee and said a few things to me.”

Gu Kai gave her a look, his expression changing as swiftly as the weather, instantly turning sour, “Fang Zhiwei is also a secret, Bai Yiyi, have you lost your mind?”

Gu Kai had no interest in whatever Fang Zhiwei could have told Bai Yiyi.

“Listen to me, it’s not Fang Zhiwei who’s the secret, I’m just leading into it.” Bai Yiyi was in high spirits, “What I’m telling you is not what Fang Zhiwei said, but about your intern, what’s her name?”

“Wei Jingshan.”

A flicker of confusion passed through Gu Kai’s eyes, his expression relaxed slightly, and he looked at her with an air of Indifference. He was curious as to why she was bringing up Wei Jingshan.

Bai Yiyi nodded, with a smile beaming on her face: “Right, Wei Jingshan. I heard she has a crush on you.”

“Fang Zhiwei told you that?”

Gu Kai frowned; Wei Jingshan was just an intern after all.

“It’s not just Fang Zhiwei who said it. I saw it with my own eyes. Your intern is quite lively, right? If I say it out loud, you will definitely think that I have bad intentions towards her.”

“Spit it out if you’re going to say it; if not, then forget it.”

Seeing Bai Yiyi pause halfway and unwilling to continue, Gu Kai frowned displeasedly.

“Wei Jingshan purposefully mentioned to Fang Zhiwei that I went to find you that day and that she answered your phone call but forgot to tell you, asking whether you went to see me that night or not. At that moment, I felt Wei Jingshan’s liveliness and cuteness was all just an act.”

Bai Yiyi pouted, remembering Wei Jingshan’s smile, she frowned, “Later on, Fang Zhiwei told me that Wei Jingshan likes you. Rest assured, I’m telling you this not to make you stay away from Wei Jingshan, but to let you know how charming you are. Next time you need someone to act, you could consider the people already around you.”

“Do I really have that much charm?”

Gu Kai raised an eyebrow, laughter brimming in his eyes.

Bai Yiyi nodded, “Of course, it’s true. Wei Jingshan was smitten with you at first sight just from seeing you at school.”

Not to sow discord between her and Fang Zhiwei.

“Do you like me too?” Gu Kai suddenly leaned forward, his handsome features magnifying in front of Bai Yiyi, startling her and making her instinctively lean back.

“Don’t scare me, just drive.”

Bai Yiyi glared at him, turned to avoid his gaze, and looked away.

Gu Kai stared at her, noticing her indifferent expression, realizing she was truly just startled and showed no special feelings, he felt an unexpected twinge of loss.

With slightly pursed lips, Gu Kai sat up straight and drove off.

Watching Gu Kai’s Maybach drive away, the woman inside the van put down her camera with satisfaction, took out her cellphone, and answered a call.

“Did you get the photo?”

A woman’s voice came through the phone.

“I got it, darling, thanks for the tip. This explosive news will make tomorrow’s exclusive a big hit.”

“Heh, if you get promoted to editor-in-chief, remember to treat me to a meal.”

“Getting promoted isn’t that easy, but once tomorrow’s exclusive is out, those old reporters won’t dare look down on me anymore.”

The woman had a smug smile on her face as she thought about this.

“Mm, you write so well, make sure tomorrow’s exclusive is sensational.”

“Darling, just wait and read the newspaper tomorrow.”

When Qing Feng brought An Lin back, the four little darlings had just fallen asleep.

Wen Ran took An Lin around the nursery and then back to the master bedroom, made some herbal tea, and the two sat on the couch chatting.

“An Lin, if you’re tired, you can go to sleep first.” Seeing An Lin’s poor complexion, Wen Ran spoke with concern.

An Lin shook her head. Even though she wore a scarf, you could still vaguely see kiss marks on her neck – one could imagine just how intense her night with Qin Mu had been.

“Ranran, do you think I’m being particularly melodramatic? I like Ah Mu so much. After last night, I should be over the moon accepting him or sobbing for him to take responsibility. But now, I can’t convince myself to do either.”

A bitter smile emerged on An Lin’s lips; her eyes held an undeniable conflict.

“No, you’re not being melodramatic, An Lin, you’re just too kind.”

Wen Ran let out a light laugh, not wanting the conversation to become too heavy, and said in a deliberately lighthearted tone: “I also think you should joyfully accept him. How wonderful Qin Mu is. If he says he will take responsibility for you, then he’ll treat you well for a lifetime.”

“A lifetime.”

An Lin murmured, repeating her words.

Wen Ran nodded, softly saying, “Yeah, think about it, you like him so much, and you even confessed to him before, don’t you want to spend your life with him?”

“Ranran, if Ah Mu liked me too, of course I would want to spend my life with him. But he doesn’t like me. He’s with me because of responsibility. Over the decades to come, that will become the greatest pain in my heart.”

An Lin looked down sadly, “I can’t do it. Whenever I think that he’s with me out of responsibility, that he has no romantic feelings for me, it feels like my heart is being cut with a knife.”

“An Lin, Qin Mu will come to like you.”

“I’m afraid that even if he does say he likes me in the future, I won’t be able to convince myself to believe it.”

A hint of sorrow flickered in An Lin’s eyes, a sentiment beyond the understanding of others.
