Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1228: 1227 I have slept with someone

Yiyi took a bath and went downstairs, just as Gu Kai arrived at her house.

“Want some water?”

She sat on the sofa and watched the man enter from the vestibule, showing no intention of getting up to pour him water.

Gu Kai squinted his eyes, his gaze lingered on her for two seconds. She wasn’t wearing her cartoon pajamas tonight, yet still looked just as childish.

“Are you eternally young at heart, or do you think you are forever eighteen?”

Instead of answering, he countered with a question, and Yiyi’s face darkened, her chin lifted proudly, retorting irritably, “What’s it to you?”

Gu Kai walked to the sofa with an air of entitlement, leaned his tall frame into it, and commanded, “Pour me a glass of water. I’ve been discussing issues with those foreigners tonight, and my throat is all hoarse.”

Yiyi scoffed but still got up and poured him a glass of water. She placed the cup in front of him and sat back down on the sofa, unable to resist making a sarcastic remark, “You were probably sweet-talking some beauties on a date, talked too much and ended up with a hoarse throat, right?”

She had seen him leaving the hospital with a woman, enough with the pretense already.

Hearing this, Gu Kai’s narrow eyes squinted, a smirk curled up on his lips. Holding the cup without drinking, he probed Yiyi, “Yiyi, how do you know I was on a date with a beauty? Which eye saw it?”

“Both eyes saw it, rest assured, I’m not as perverted as you. I wouldn’t say I’d have to agree should you get married; don’t mention dating women, whether you sleep or cohabit with someone, I won’t interfere.”

“I actually have slept with a woman.”

Gu Kai raised his eyebrows, saying smugly.

“That woman is your intern, isn’t she? You got together with her in just a few days, and you aren’t ashamed but rather proud of it, utterly shameless.”

Yiyi’s face immediately turned disdainful upon hearing him admit to have really slept with someone.

“Your mind is truly filthy. Have I ever said I slept with my intern, Yiyi? I’m not like you, lusting after every man you see. I’ve lived for thirty-one years, and, to this date, I’ve only slept with one woman, ruining her innocence.”

As Gu Kai spoke, his tone slowed down and he elegantly took a sip of water, emphasizing the words “ruined her innocence.”

Miss Bai’s originally disdainful eyes now filled with anger, her small face flushed red as she glared at him, “You’re insane.”

Rather than getting upset, Gu Kai laughed.

He put down the cup, lazily leaning back on the sofa, and brought the conversation back on track, “When you called this afternoon, I was in the operating room. It was an emergency, and my phone was with the intern, she’s the one who took the call.”

Yiyi didn’t respond, not believing a word.

Unless they were more than just colleagues, why would his phone be with her after work, and the two of them leaving the hospital together?

Gu Kai squinted, seeing Yiyi’s skepticism and disdain, and felt a sudden surge of anger. He bit his lip and decided not to explain further, instead asking bluntly, “What do you want, just say it!”

“What illness does Songnan’s son have?”

Yiyi asked bluntly, no pleasantries.

Upon hearing this, Gu Kai’s handsome face darkened. Instead of answering, he countered, “Why do you care about that, are you having second thoughts?”

“Second thoughts about what?”

Yiyi was genuinely puzzled.

“Yiyi, I’m warning you, I’ll interfere not only with your marriage but if you shamelessly mess around with men or become someone’s mistress, you can forget about ever seeing Tongtong.”

“What nonsense are you spouting?”

Yiyi glared at Gu Kai angrily. What did he take her for?

“Then tell me, why are you suddenly so interested in Songnan, don’t tell me it’s because he’s your client, that excuse is so stupid, only an idiot would believe you.”

Gu Kai didn’t know where his anger was coming from, but he was just angry.

To prevent Songnan from pestering her, Wen Jin had brought Mo Xiuchen to meet Songnan, though eventually, Songnan, because of his son’s illness, was forced to make the greatest concession…

But if Yiyi really got involved with that old man, he would take Tongtong away right now and ensure she never saw her again.

Yiyi, irritated, her breathing uneven and her chest heaving, “Do you think I want to concern myself with Songnan’s issues? If it wasn’t for you playing the hero, saving your ex-girlfriend, getting caught on video and posted online, Songnan wouldn’t have found out about Zhi Wei and your relationship, threatened her, and used it to blackmail me. I couldn’t care less about your messy affairs.”

“Spell it out for me, what did Songnan do?”

Gu Kai was a bit confused, sitting upright on the sofa, leaning slightly forward, his gaze intensely fixed on Yiyi.

Yiyi pursed her lips, simply stating, “The man who warned Zhi Wei that night was Songnan.”

“So it was him.”

Gu Kai’s eyes flickered, a look of realization dawning on him.

He knew it, he wasn’t a womanizer, and Yiyi hated him enough to stay away; how could someone have gone to warn Zhi Wei not to harry him.

Yiyi nodded, “I only found out this afternoon myself. Songnan said, you must cure his son, otherwise, he’ll tell Zhi Wei that it was me who instigated him.”

That was Songnan’s implication.

Gu Kai’s handsome face grew even more somber.

Yiyi continued, “Gu Kai, I don’t want to be involved with what’s going on between you and Zhi Wei. Not just this, I don’t want to meddle in other things either.”

“I know. I’ll handle this matter, you don’t need to worry.”

Gu Kai’s words were somber yet resolute.

“I promised Songnan I’d give him an answer.” Yiyi hesitated, then asked, “What disease does his son have, is it incurable?”

“It’s a very rare disease. Those medical terms, even if I told you, you wouldn’t understand. However, I’ve already called my mentor over, and later, I’ll find Songnan.”

Gu Kai tried to put it as plainly as possible, so Yiyi could understand and be reassured.

Yiyi looked at him in surprise, “Is there hope?”

“Mmm, if it’s surgery, there’s a fifty percent chance of success; it’s mainly because the condition is complicated and requires several surgeries to be performed simultaneously. You didn’t tell anyone else about Songnan warning Zhi Wei, did you?”

Gu Kai’s tone shifted, his gaze sharply piercing into Yiyi.

Yiyi shook her head, “No, after Songnan left, I called you.”

“Don’t tell anyone, I’ll handle it, and don’t worry about Songnan’s words, I’ve already explained to Zhi Wei that we have no relationship, he can’t stir up anything.”

“I didn’t expect Songnan to be so despicable.”

Yiyi clenched her teeth in hatred, she had only thought the man named Songnan was lecherous, not that he was also so despicable and shameless.

Gu Kai sneered mockingly, “Those kinds of people, what tricks wouldn’t they use, pity you’re still so naive being a professional woman.”
