Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1237: 1236 you were schemed by Ah Kai

“Have some water.”

Gu Kai kindly poured a cup of water for Bai Yiyi and handed it over.

Bai Yiyi, feeling uncomfortably spicy, took the water without thinking and drank it, only to realize that although the water wasn’t hot enough to be undrinkable, it was still very warm.

The spice was already unbearable, and drinking such hot water was like adding fuel to the fire.

She exhaled with a puff and fanned her mouth with her hand.

“If you can’t eat it, just stop. Look at you trying to act tough, you can’t handle spicy food, yet you insist on having chili peppers.”

Gu Kai sighed softly, his face showing a helpless expression. As he spoke, he even pretended to reach for the plate in front of her, “Let’s switch. I’ll eat yours, and you eat mine.”

“No need.”

Bai Yiyi held onto the plate, not letting him take it.

Gu Kai smiled, “Alright, if you can’t eat it, just leave it, but don’t force yourself.”

“I can eat it,” Bai Yiyi cursed silently in her heart and continued eating.

Gu Kai was in a good mood, frequently finding topics to talk about with Bai Yiyi, who was sweating profusely from the spice but persevered and finished her portion of rice noodles.

“Wipe your sweat.”

After elegantly wiping the corners of his mouth, Gu Kai handed a tissue to Bai Yiyi. She took it and wiped the sweat off her face. Her originally fair cheeks turned bright red from the chili, making her look quite cute.

That’s what Gu Kai thought.

“Are you full, or do you want to eat something else?”

Gu Kai, while taking out his wallet to pay, asked in a gentlemanly manner.

Bai Yiyi shook her head, feeling nothing but a burning sensation in her stomach.

“Then let’s go.”

Gu Kai shrugged his shoulders, not insisting further, paid the bill, and they both walked back to the hospital. It was just across the street, a mere ten-minute walk.

On the way, Bai Yiyi remained silent, not saying a word.

Gu Kai didn’t talk either, but he was in high spirits, his mouth curved in a pleased smile.

“Doctor Gu, Mrs. Gu.”

As they reached the hospital, they ran into Qian Songnan.

Hearing Qian Songnan call out ‘Mrs. Gu,’ Gu Kai subconsciously turned and glanced at Bai Yiyi beside him.

Bai Yiyi frowned and looked at him displeasedly, signaling him to explain.

Gu Kai just laughed, “General Qian.”

“Doctor Gu and Mrs. Gu, are you free tonight? I would like to invite Doctor Gu and Mrs. Gu for a casual meal to express my thanks to Doctor Gu.”

Qian Songnan’s eyes wandered over Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi’s faces.

“I have a shift tonight, General Qian, please don’t bother.”

Gu Kai’s tone was calm and indifferent. He paused briefly, then added, “I need to drop Yiyi off at work.”

“Doctor Gu is really good to Mrs. Gu, I won’t disturb you two anymore, I’ll head to the ward first.”

Gu Kai walked with Bai Yiyi towards the parking lot, while Qian Songnan entered the hospital.

“I drove here myself, you don’t need to drop me off.”

Seeing Gu Kai actually bringing her to the parking spot to take her back to the factory, Bai Yiyi quickly refused, and glanced back at the hospital entrance, “Qian Songnan has already gone in.”

“Anyway, I’m free at noon, and it’s not yet time for work. Get in the car, I’ll drop you off.”

Gu Kai opened the car door and sat in the driver’s seat, seeing that Bai Yiyi had no intention of getting in, he stepped out again, strode to the other side, opened the passenger door, and said to her, “Get in.”

Bai Yiyi looked at him displeased, “I’ll drive myself back.”

“Your car, I’ll have someone drive it back for you later.” Gu Kai’s voice wasn’t loud, but his tone carried an inherent dominance and an air of no defiance.

Bai Yiyi hesitated for two seconds before bending down and sitting in the car.

As a result of eating too many chili peppers at lunch, Bai Yiyi suffered from severe stomach pain in the afternoon.

At four in the afternoon, Wen Jin went to find Bai Yiyi and pushed open the door of her office, only to see her lying on the desk.

“Yiyi, are you feeling unwell? Why do you look so pale?”

Hearing the door open, Bai Yiyi raised her head toward the door; Wen Jin saw her condition and couldn’t help frowning, asking with concern.

“It’s nothing, just that I ate too much spicy food at lunch, and now my stomach hurts.”

Bai Yiyi’s voice sounded distressed, and her elegant eyebrows were slightly furrowed.

“Ate too much spicy food?” Wen Jin flashed a hint of confusion in his eyes, walked to the desk, and asked with concern, “Didn’t you have lunch with Ah Kai? Don’t tell me, did he take you out for barbecue in the middle of the day?”

“Barbecue, no, we had stir-fried rice noodles.”

Bai Yiyi’s expression was a bit stiff; she had brought this upon herself, played by Gu Kai.

“You weren’t competing with Ah Kai to eat chili peppers, were you? Ah Kai can eat a lot of spicy food, don’t compete with him next time.”

Wen Jin said humorously.

Bai Yiyi flashed a look of astonishment, “You’re saying, Gu Kai can eat spicy food?”

“Otherwise, was it only you eating chili peppers, didn’t this happen because you were competing with Ah Kai?” Wen Jin was confused by Bai Yiyi’s question, her eyes flickered, and she counter-questioned instead.

Bai Yiyi pursed her lips, forcing out, “Not at all, I was trying to get back at him by adding lots of chili peppers, sesame oil, and vinegar to his portion of the stir-fried rice noodles. That cunning man, he didn’t object when I was adding them, and after I was done, he just snatched my portion…”

“Haha, Yiyi, so you got played by Ah Kai,” Wen Jin couldn’t help laughing unkindly.

Seeing Bai Yiyi’s grievous look, he held back his laughter, softly said, “You should just go home and rest after work. Next time, if this happens again, just don’t eat, why make yourself suffer?”

“You don’t know, what the street vendors cherish the most isn’t the food they sell, but the condiments that come free. When I was adding chili peppers, the vendor kept looking at me, probably distressed about his chili peppers. If I had added them and then not eaten it, not only would the vendor scold, but I’d feel guilty myself.”

“Now you might not feel guilty, but your stomach has suffered. Pack up, I’ll have the driver take you home.”

After saying that, Wen Jin took out his phone to make a call.

After dialing, he added, “Or, maybe you should go to the hospital to see if you need some medicine.”

“No need, I’ll just sleep it off at home.”

Kangning Hospital.

After finishing a surgery, Gu Kai returned to his office, just poured some water, and before he could drink, his phone rang.

He leisurely drank the water, then pulled out his phone, and seeing the caller ID, a faint smile appeared on his lips, his slender finger pressed the answer button, his voice cheerful: “Hello, Ranran.”

“Brother, I heard that you made Yiyi eat a lot of chili peppers at noon.”

“Ranran, who told you that? Did Bai Yiyi complain to you?”

Gu Kai chuckled, not denying it.

“No, Yiyi’s stomach hurts from eating too many chili peppers, my brother told her to go home and rest. Just now, it was my brother who called me to check on Yiyi.”

“Ah Jin told you? Bai Yiyi didn’t eat that many chili peppers, just a stomach ache, isn’t she too delicate?”

Gu Kai’s handsome brow lightly furrowed, his voice devoid of any remorse or concern.
