Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1204: 1203 Returning your favor, we’re even

“I didn’t want Yiyi to go, the client who came today has some past grievances with Yiyi.”

On the other end of the line, Wen Jin seemed to hesitate before he lightly explained.

Standing tall in front of the elevator, Gu Kai raised his hand to press the elevator button but paused slightly, curiously asking, “What kind of grievances? Was it her ex-lover?”

“Ah Kai, Yiyi has never dated before, where would an ex-lover come from? You really have a deep prejudice against her. That man, back then, her boss drugged her, trying to send her off to a client, who is an old lecher.”

“Really?”

Gu Kai’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, a touch of darkness tinting his eyes as he pressed the button.

“Yes, of course, it’s true. Speaking of which, he played a role as the matchmaker between you and Yiyi.”

“Ah Jin, don’t misuse descriptors. Such a scumbag, why are you even dealing with him in business? Just kick him out.”

“Kick him out, in the business world, we can’t just talk about personal grievances, we have to consider interests too. This cooperation is related to our pharmaceuticals entering the western market…”

The elevator arrived, Gu Kai interrupted Wen Jin, “I’m coming over now, we’ll talk later.”

Wen Jin seemed to want to say more, but Gu Kai had already hung up the call.

He looked at the call log on his phone screen, a pleased curve appearing on his lips.

It seems Gu Kai still cares about Bai Yiyi. Hearing that the man who almost took advantage of Bai Yiyi years ago was an old lecher, he got angry and wanted him to drive away Qian Songnan.

Bai Yiyi didn’t know Wen Jin had called Gu Kai.

Before leaving work, she made another trip to Wen Jin’s office, where Wen Jin was reviewing documents, asking her to go home first.

Leaving the office building, she walked towards her car space, but just a few steps away, she saw Gu Kai’s car drive in from outside.

The Maybach stopped in front of her, and instinctively, Bai Yiyi took a step back as the car window rolled down, revealing Gu Kai’s stern features.

“Bai Yiyi, have you finished work?”

Bai Yiyi’s eyes flickered, puzzled by his anger, not recalling having offended him today, “Yes, I’m done for the day, is there something you need?”

Gu Kai opened the car door, stepped out, and stood in front of her, effectively blocking the sunset’s afterglow shining down on her.

Feeling an overwhelming pressure, Bai Yiyi took another step back.

She frowned slightly, displeased, “This isn’t a parking spot, you can’t park your car here.”

“I heard that the client you have to entertain tonight is that scum who wanted to take advantage of you back then?”

Gu Kai ignored her comment, his eyes intensely fixed on her.

A hint of shock flickered through Bai Yiyi’s eyes as she asked, “How did you know?”

“Never mind how I know, just tell me, is it him or not?”

Gu Kai’s face was somber, his presence gloomy. Wen Jin on the phone earlier hadn’t finished speaking, it seemed like that man attempted to take advantage of her that afternoon as well.

Bai Yiyi blinked, somewhat confused by the source of Gu Kai’s anger; could it be because of her?

Oh, how could it be.

“Yes, his name is Qian Songnan. Back then, my boss drugged my drink to please him.”

Bai Yiyi explained coldly—if not for that night, how would she have gotten entangled with the annoying man in front of her.

“So, when he saw you this afternoon, he recognized you and tried to take advantage again?”

A chill flashed in Gu Kai’s eyes. Regardless of whether Bai Yiyi was involved with him or not, she was still his daughter’s mother, not someone any man could bully.

Besides, he was a scumbag, an old lecher.

Bai Yiyi’s complexion changed, “Did President Wen call you?”

“Yiyi, Ah Kai, what are you two doing there?”

As Bai Yiyi spoke, Wen Jin’s voice came from in front of the office building.

He strode over, his eyes sweeping past Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi, “I waited upstairs for half a day and didn’t see you come up, Yiyi, it was me who asked Ah Kai to come, you should go home, later, Ah Kai will come with me to meet Qian Songnan.”

Wen Jin’s words caused Bai Yiyi to widen her eyes in astonishment.

“President Wen?”

She didn’t understand the intention behind Wen Jin’s actions.

Wen Jin smiled gently and said, “You go back, don’t worry about Qian Songnan’s matter.”

“Why let her go back? Let her come with us, I’d like to see, does that Mr. Qian really dare to be a hooligan in G City?”

Gu Kai sneered coldly.

That cold and arrogant demeanor, completely different from his gentle and refined appearance when wearing a white coat, yet this side of him held a fatal charm.

Bai Yiyi looked at Gu Kai somewhat dazedly; she couldn’t believe that this man, who disliked her so much, was now seemingly ready to stand up for her.

Gu Kai turned his eyes, coldly looking at Bai Yiyi, and after a moment, his lips curled into a smile, “You helped me yesterday, tonight I’m returning the favor, and then we’re even!”

He deliberately slowed his speech when he said ‘even.’

The smile on his lips was profound.

Wen Jin didn’t understand what he meant by ‘even,’ confusion emerging between his brows.

Bai Yiyi’s face changed slightly, she spoke discontentedly, “This is a different matter.”

“What different matter, it’s settled then, I guarantee that Mr. Qian won’t dare to lay a hand on you again, Ah Jin, where are you hosting them tonight?”

“Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion.”

“Good, you go ahead, Bai Yiyi and I will come a little later.”

After speaking, Gu Kai pulled Bai Yiyi around the car, opened the door of the passenger seat, and pushed her into the car.

“Gu Kai, you…”

Bai Yiyi protested discontentedly, but Gu Kai glanced at her, shut the car door, signaled to Wen Jin with his eyes, then opened the driver’s door and sat in the car.

**

“Gu Kai, where are you taking me?”

As the Maybach drove out of the pharmaceutical factory, Gu Kai headed towards the downtown area, Bai Yiyi sitting in the passenger seat asked with a frown and an angry face.

Gu Kai turned his head, simply giving her a faint glance, “Taking you to have dinner.”

“Dinner?”

Bai Yiyi asked puzzledly: “Aren’t you supposed to be meeting with President Wen and clients tonight?”

“Would you be able to eat, seeing an old lecher drooling over you?”

Gu Kai mocked with a laugh.

“Gu Kai, don’t you dare talk to me in that mocking tone again.” Bai Yiyi pointed her finger at him.

Gu Kai squinted his eyes, freed one hand, and grabbed her finger pointing at him, “Bai Yiyi, don’t point fingers at me.”

Bai Yiyi, unprepared for being grabbed, her face changed immediately, and she struggled, “Let go.”

Gu Kai laughed and released his hand, his large hand taking hold of the steering wheel again, “What’s Qian Songnan’s background, and the business profits you’ll be discussing this time, tell me everything you know in detail.”

“Why are you asking all this?”

“It’s useful.”

Gu Kai replied tersely.

Bai Yiyi pursed her lips, “I heard from a previous boss that Qian Songnan seems to have a very strong backing, when he met him back then…”

Gu Kai didn’t interrupt Bai Yiyi, listening quietly to her description, his brows knitting into a coldness uncharacteristic of the season.
