Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1236: 1235 Self-inflicted

Entering the office, Bai Yiyi walked to the sofa and placed the bag on the coffee table.

“Would you like some water?”

Gu Kai closed the door and came over.

Bai Yiyi shook her head, “No, where’s the contract?”

“You sit first,” Gu Kai pointed to the sofa and then turned to go behind his desk, opened the drawer, and took out the contract.

After Bai Yiyi sat down, Gu Kai walked over with the contract, sat down on another sofa, and handed the contract to her, “Take a look first, if there’s anything that needs to be changed, feel free to modify it.”

Bai Yiyi didn’t say anything, took the contract, and quickly skimmed through it.

It was all the usual content, nothing needed changing.

She picked up a pen from the coffee table, signed her name at the bottom of the contract, then handed back both the contract and the pen to Gu Kai.

Gu Kai also promptly signed his name.

“This copy is for you. As your landlord, I should thank you for paying twenty years of rent all at once. For lunch today, tell me whatever you want to eat, my treat.”

“Are we going to Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion again?”

It was rare for the two to get along for more than three minutes without arguing. Seeing Gu Kai smiling now, charmingly handsome and exceptionally gentle, Bai Yiyi couldn’t help but tease.

Gu Kai lightly raised his brow: “Not going to Yi Pin Xuan, choose another place. I don’t want to be accused again that Mo Xiuchen is trying to support a wife and kids, nor do I want to be seen as freeloading.”

“How about a street stall?”

Bai Yiyi put the contract in her bag and stood up. Since this man was offering a meal and she hadn’t eaten yet, she might as well join him. She was actually curious to see if Young Master Gu, who grew up with a silver spoon, could stomach food from a street stall.

“Sure.”

Gu Kai saw through Bai Yiyi’s thoughts, and casually raised an eyebrow.

There are many street vendors outside the hospital.

However, Bai Yiyi didn’t want to be too conspicuous. Bringing Gu Kai to eat at a street stall outside the hospital would end up causing the nurses and patients’ relatives who adored him to tear her apart.

She took Gu Kai to another street and pointed at a stall selling fried rice noodles, “I’ll have fried rice noodles, will you?”

Gu Kai’s lips curled up into a faint smile, “Yes.”

“Good, boss, two orders of fried rice noodles, one large and one small.”

After placing the order, Bai Yiyi sat down at a table, Gu Kai also sat down beside her without any hesitation.

Honestly, such street stalls aren’t very clean.

Being a street stall, most of the diners are from the lower segments of society, some are migrant workers. Perhaps out of habit, many people casually throw their used tissues on the ground.

It looks particularly greasy.

And the tables and stools aren’t cleaned every day, the tables are somewhat better, but the stools clearly show a layer of long-settled grease

Yet, Gu Kai didn’t mind at all, he just sat down. It didn’t seem forced, he casually crossed his legs, propped an elbow on the table, took a glance at his phone, and placed it on the table.

Bai Yiyi leaned forward, glanced around, and asked in a lowered voice, “Have you been to a place like this before?”

“No.”

Gu Kai’s eyes flickered, and he replied cooperatively.

Sure enough, upon hearing his response, Bai Yiyi immediately started laughing. The noon sunlight just right hit her delicate fair face, and with that laugh, sunlight seemed to sparkle in her eyes.

At first glance, it was dazzling and captivating.

Gu Kai’s eyes shifted slightly, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth as he counter-asked, “Do you come here often?”

“Uh, I’m not like you rich folks who can afford fancy restaurants. I can’t just starve to death, so places like this become regular spots.”

Bai Yiyi spoke as if it was the absolute truth.

In reality, she wasn’t exactly a girl who had grown up in harsh conditions. Fu Jingyi hadn’t fulfilled his responsibilities as a father, but he did regularly send money to her mother.

However, she despised Fu Jingyi and, once she was old enough to understand, she tried her best not to spend his money, starting to work various jobs to earn her own money from her teenage years.

“You’re so pitiful, then should I return that money to you? Is that how you saved up your money?”

Gu Kai’s eyes showed a hint of pity as he asked with concern.

Bai Yiyi rolled her eyes, “I rent your villa and paying the rent is only proper. Don’t worry, I can manage a bit of saving and won’t live in your house for free.”

“I’m worried about Tongtong being aggrieved, not pitying you.” Gu Kai sat up straight, saying with a smile.

After chatting for a while, the owner finished cooking two servings of rice noodles and brought them over. Bai Yiyi immediately grabbed the vinegar from the table and started pouring it into Gu Kai’s bowl, followed by adding chili and sesame oil, while saying, “These noodles are tasteless, they must have a lot of spicy seasoning to be delicious.”

Gu Kai simply smiled without a word, watching her nearly add all the chili to his serving of rice noodles.

Once Bai Yiyi finished, Gu Kai suddenly reached over, pulled the bowl in front of her to his side, and pushed his bowl to Bai Yiyi, “I’m not very hungry, a smaller serving is fine for me. You work hard, eat the larger one.”

After saying that, he picked up some noodles with chopsticks and fed himself.

Bai Yiyi was still shocked, not even realizing when Gu Kai had prepared his chopsticks. Watching him eat a mouthful of the noodles, she couldn’t possibly snatch it back and could only grind her teeth in frustration.

Gu Kai tasted a bite, his handsome face breaking into a brilliant smile, “Hmm, it really is delicious. You should try it, it tastes just as good as anything from a high-end restaurant.”

“Sure, eat up.”

Bai Yiyi’s voice held a hint of gritting her teeth, her smile no longer as bright as before.

She actually didn’t like spicy food and couldn’t handle the numbing flavor of Sichuan peppercorns.

But the bowl of noodles in front of her was one she had seasoned herself. The owner had glanced her way earlier, possibly worried she couldn’t handle so much chili and would waste it.

Seeing her not moving to eat, Gu Kai said with a laugh, “I didn’t expect you to enjoy spicy food so much. If I hadn’t been having internal heat issues these days and needed to avoid spicy food, I would’ve challenged you to a contest. Here, let me mix it for you.”

“No need.”

Bai Yiyi frowned, reaching out to stop him.

Gu Kai caught her hand that reached out, speaking considerately, “Just wait.”

Bai Yiyi had inadvertently shot herself in the foot, watching as Gu Kai mixed up the bowl of noodles in front of her.

“All set, you can eat now. Try it out.”

Gu Kai acted like a gentleman, even his action of stirring the chili was graceful and charming. A couple of young girls nearby glanced over from time to time, their eyes filled with envy.

Bai Yiyi withdrew her hand, her smile stiff as she moved her mouth. Her ears caught Gu Kai’s deliberately lowered voice, thick with amusement, “Bai Yiyi, you can’t not eat. The owner might not mind wasting the noodles, but he’d be heartbroken over the wasted chili. Wasting is a shameful thing.”

“I’ll eat.”

Bai Yiyi glared at him, picking up a mouthful of the noodles with her chopsticks and feeding it into her mouth.

The chili was too spicy, her mouth instantly ablaze.

Sweat quickly appeared on the tip of her nose, and each time she ate something spicy, this happened. Under Gu Kai’s watchful eyes, Bai Yiyi forced down the noodles, the spiciness lingering all the way to her throat.
