Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1226: 1225 So tell me, who do you like?

Wen Jin chuckled lightly, “The food from the street stalls might taste good, but don’t you think it’s unhealthy and can easily make you sick after eating, especially since you’re a doctor yourself.”

“I’m not worried because I am a doctor.”

Gu Kai laughed and handed a skewer of grilled meat to him, “You should try it too, it really tastes very good. If only Ranran were here, how about I call Ranran over right now?”

“Go ahead and call. If Mo Xiuchen allows Ranran to come, I’ll treat you to a month’s worth of late-night snacks.”

Wen Jin’s lips carried a confident smile, mentioning Wen Ran his gaze was exceptionally warm, unlike a moment ago in the cemetery when he seemed to emit a deep chill and solitude.

“Really?”

Gu Kai put down the bamboo stick in his hand, took out his cellphone pretending to be about to make a call. Wen Jin simply smiled silently watching him.

He glanced at his phone and then tossed it back on the table, arching his handsome brows and said, “Forget it, Ranran’s already tired from taking care of the three kids every day, I can’t disturb her sleep being her brother.”

Wen Jin gave him a scornful look, “Making excuses just because you’re scared.”

“Ah Jin, let’s play rock-paper-scissors, whoever loses tells the other why they went to the cemetery tonight,” Gu Kai said with a twinkle of sharpness in his eyes.

He was very curious about Wen Jin’s actions tonight.

Wen Jin’s eyes twinkled, the smile at the corner of his mouth faded slightly as he said indifferently, “It’s not yet clear who will win or lose.”

“Let’s do it.”

Gu Kai picked up an empty glass on the side and poured two glasses of wine, but before he could speak, Wen Jin beat him to it: “Let’s play rock-paper-scissors.”

In the past, he and Ranran often played like this.

Gu Kai nodded with a smile, “Alright, rock-paper-scissors, I’m not afraid of you.”

As soon as it was said, the two played and Gu Kai lost. Wen Jin’s smile deepened, “Should I ask, or will you tell me yourself?”

Gu Kai cast a sideward glance at him and confessed proactively, “Tonight, Bai Yiyi’s mom said some things to me, and it upset me, so I just wanted to go and see my mom.”

As soon as he finished, the phone rang.

He pulled out his phone to see that it was his father, Gu Yan, calling.

Gu Kai pressed the answer button, reined in his emotions before answering, “Dad, I’m at Ah Jin’s place right now, don’t wait for me. I won’t come back tonight; I’ll stay over here.”

Wen Jin picked up his glass of wine and took a sip, his gaze lowered, a flicker of emotion passing through his eyes.

Gu Kai finished the call and continued, “Let’s go again.”

“You only said one sentence, you haven’t finished yet.”

Wen Jin frowned; this guy Gu Kai was clearly being shameless. Gu Kai raised his eyebrows and said with a laugh, “Let’s do the questioning later.”

“Questioning it is then, I’ll have you thoroughly convinced tonight.”

Ever since he was young, Wen Jin had played rock-paper-scissors with Wen Ran and had gained a lot of experience; he didn’t believe that Gu Kai could win against him.

So, the second time, Gu Kai lost again to Wen Jin.

“Ah Jin, you weren’t looking at which move I was going to make, were you?” Gu Kai frowned, Wen Jin laughed lightly, his tall figure leaning back into the sofa casually, “When Ranran and I play rock-paper-scissors, she could only win because I let her.”

“So this is your specialty, fair enough, I accept my loss. Tonight, besides, I will also avenge Ranran, go ahead and ask.”

Gu Kai picked up the glass of wine in front of him and downed it in one go.

“What did Yiyi’s mom tell you?”

Wen Jin watched Gu Kai with a smile.

Gu Kai frowned and recounted to Wen Jin what Bai Yuqin had said to him. Wen Jin smiled and said, “I think this proposal is not bad, Ah Kai, for Tongtong’s sake, you should really consider it. Yiyi is a nice girl, don’t force yourself to dislike her just because of Fu Jingyi.”

“What do you mean ‘force myself’? I really do dislike Bai Yiyi. She may act like a gentle lady in front of you guys, but she’s like a shrew when facing me.”

Gu Kai said with a displeased face. If Bai Yiyi could be nice to him as well, then perhaps…

“Yiyi is like a shrew in front of you because you’ve never been gentle to her.”

“Alright, enough chit-chat. You’ve asked your question, I’ve answered it, let’s continue.” Gu Kai smiled like a fox.

Finally, on the third try, Gu Kai won.

“Haha, Ah Jin, what goes around comes around, now it’s your turn.” Gu Kai laughed triumphantly, squinting his eyes, he asked, “Be honest, do you have someone you like?”

Wen Jin’s eyes flickered slightly as he lowered his head and picked up his cup.

“No.”

“Ah Jin, you can’t lie. It’s written all over your eyes, you definitely have someone you like. Come on, who is it? It’s not Bai Yiyi, is it? You’re exceptionally nice to Bai Yiyi.”

This was something Gu Kai had always wanted to know. Since he came back from abroad this time, he wanted to find out whether the relationship between Bai Yiyi and Wen Jin was merely that of boss and subordinate.

“I’m nice to everyone.”

A faint smile surfaced on Wen Jin’s face, but Gu Kai was certain he was being perfunctory. Gu Kai’s gaze became even sharper, “Ah Jin, how can we continue to play happily like this? Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone your secret. If you like Bai Yiyi, I’ll go speak for you.”

“Why do you always think that I like Bai Yiyi?”

Wen Jin held his wine cup, narrowing his eyes at Gu Kai.

“Then tell me, who do you like?”

Gu Kai raised his eyebrows, his expression suggesting that if Wen Jin couldn’t say who he liked, it must be Bai Yiyi, which made Wen Jin roll his eyes.

He tilted his head back and gulped down a cup of liquor, then grabbed the bottle to fill his cup again, his head bowed without looking at Gu Kai, “Yes, I do have someone I like.”

Wen Jin’s voice carried a mix of three parts repression, two parts loneliness, and one part of an unbearable ache.

Gu Kai showed a look of surprise, “Who is it?”

“Anyway, it’s not Bai Yiyi.”

Wen Jin glared at him and downed the newly poured drink in one go, a pretty and playful face emerging in his mind, knowing he shouldn’t harbor such feelings, yet unable to control himself.

Watching him drink cup after cup, Gu Kai’s handsome face showed a variety of emotions—astonishment, confusion, puzzlement, speculation—a myriad of emotions flickered in his eyes.

“Why not just go after the one you like instead of brooding over your drink?”

When Wen Jin said the person he liked was not Bai Yiyi, Gu Kai actually breathed a sigh of relief, “She’s married.”

“Married? Who is it? I’ve never heard you mention her.”

Gu Kai was even more confused now, focusing intently on Wen Jin, “Do I know her? Does Ranran know her?”

Hearing him mention Ranran, Wen Jin’s expression stiffened for a moment, then he lifted his eyelids to glance at Gu Kai before lowering his head and picking up a skewer from the table, “Aren’t you not going back tonight? Let’s just get thoroughly drunk.”

“Ah Jin, stop keeping me in suspense, just tell me who it is you like?”

“One question at a time.”

Wen Jin gave him a sidelong glance, refusing to answer.

“…Come on.” Gu Kai swore, determined to pry out from Wen Jin who he was in love with tonight.

Wen Jin handed him a skewer, “Not anymore, next time I feel like it, I’ll compete with you again.”
