Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 491: Chapter 383: The New Production Crew

Zhou Yun knew her thoughts were contradictory.

On one hand, she hoped that Song Chi would see her as someone special, seeing how busy and hard she worked, he would feel sorry for her and would want her to rest more.

On the other hand, she didn’t want Song Chi to show favoritism and let her skip many of the responsibilities she ought to bear.

Zhou Yun finished her snacks and turned to look at Song Chi, asking, ”But, what about Su Yan?”

”Hm?” Song Chi frowned, ”What about Su Yan?”

”No, I mean, isn’t she the main actress of this drama? Logically, shouldn’t she be the one who needs to take on most of the promotional work? Why haven’t I seen her doing any promotion?”

”She is currently recording a show and can’t make time; the schedule was set too hastily,” Song Chi explained, ”We’re communicating with her, and she is very keen herself. Once she finishes recording her show, she will focus on promoting this drama.”

”I thought she might be unwilling to promote because of the displeasures during the filming before.”

”Do you think she’s foolish? This show is currently the hottest, she appeared even before you, and the discussions about her in this drama are not less than those about you. If she missed this opportunity, just because she’s a bit upset, wouldn’t her efforts in filming be wasted?”

Zhou Yun said, ”Who knows what she’s thinking, I just can’t understand her logic.”

Song Chi stopped short of saying more.

”What’s the matter? What do you want to say?” Zhou Yun asked.

Song Chi said, ”She indeed had some discontent, but not about the matters during the filming before. Her agent brought up that the crew is focusing too much on promoting you, even though she is the main actress. They believe the promotion should focus more on her.”

”That’s one way to put it, and it’s not exactly wrong,” Zhou Yun wasn’t surprised by Su Yan’s agent’s stance; it was something that woman would do.

Song Chi chuckled, ”Of course, we didn’t agree with her. We just said that we haven’t put more promotional efforts on you. The trending searches these days are your own doing, due to your fans backing you. How can the production team stop you from trending? That would be crazy, right?”

Hearing this, Zhou Yun instantly pursed her lips, ”You say that, isn’t Su Yan’s agent furious?”

”Indeed, quite furious, but what we said were all true. Those trending topics, how many did we buy?” Song Chi said, ”If she has the ability, she should also get a nomination for Best Actress at the Qingmu Award, then she too could trend.”

Zhou Yun laughed.

”I suddenly feel like you will benefit like a fisherman.”

”Hm?” Song Chi was startled and asked, ”Why? What benefit?”

Zhou Yun said, ”Based on what I know about Su Yan and her agent, they definitely won’t sit by and let me get more attention and popularity in this drama than Su Yan. So, to outshine me, they will try every possible means, like trending searches, press releases and such. I actually think that you guys can save some money on promotion; if you don’t buy, they will.”

Song Chi: ”...”

Zhou Yun said, ”Really, don’t doubt me, just wait and see. Soon, maybe tomorrow, her trending topics will come out.”

Zhou Yun’s words almost became a prophecy.

The next day when Song Chi woke up and checked Weibo and TikTok, indeed, Su Yan was prominent in the trending searches.

Trending keyword: Su Yan, the ideal wife for all men.

Clicking in, it became even clearer.

All praises about Su Yan being sensible, gentle, and wise in the drama ”Heart Inquiry.”

Clearly, these contents were created by marketing.

Song Chi turned his head to look at Zhou Yun, who was still half-asleep beside him, lips slightly parted, unaware that her prediction had come true.

Actually, during many drama releases, one can see actors from the same crew releasing press releases against each other just to outdo one another.

Especially in hit dramas, conflicts arise not just among actors of the same gender, but even between male and female leads.

Many main actors, who seem inseparable in the drama, struggle over various resources behind the scenes, creating undercurrents.

Zhou Lan had guessed early on that Su Yan’s side would release press releases to overshadow Zhou Yun.

But she did not expect them to appear so soon.
