Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 476: Chapter 375: Marketing Strategies

Wu Chengbao called Song Chi out so late because of the post shared by the producer of ”Mother and Son Inn”.

After the jokes, a group of people seriously began discussing many matters that follow.

First and foremost, how to face the aggressive ”confrontation” from ”Mother and Son Inn”.

”Damn, to put it unpleasantly, isn’t ’Mother and Son Inn’ just sticking to us like a plaster, forcibly creating a confrontation for the sake of clout?”

Zhou Yun saw a man with shoulder-length hair slam a cigarette box on the table, speaking in an annoyed tone, ”A low-budget comedy, seriously, its performance is just this, it’s not a movie, there are so many examples of making more from less, it’s been decades, do they really think it’s so easy to make a hit out of comedy genre TV shows?”

”Isn’t it just because it’s hard, so they are forcibly riding on our coattails?” Another person smirked, somewhat sarcastically saying, ”Hongcheng TV Station is as disgusting as ever, for the sake of ratings, they’d stoop to any low, matching our release dates, aimlessly linking ’Mother and Son Inn’ with ’Heart Inquiry’.”

”It’s exactly because they see the proof in ’Heart Inquiry’, so they specifically chose a comedy to compete.”

A few people griped for a while.

Wu Chengbao tapped on the table, making everyone quiet down and look towards him.

He said, ”Right now, we all clearly understand the situation; we are targeted, which is normal. With ’Heart Inquiry’ being such a major play, it faced many sabotages during approval, and finally, when it got scheduled, other platforms don’t want to see us dominate alone. They thought of a nasty tactic to leech some traffic, which is normal. Now, even if we curse them from head to toe and satisfy ourselves verbally, it essentially does no good. The key issue is, how do we shake off this annoying plaster?”

After hearing the previous frustrated remarks, when it came to Wu Chengbao, his words were calm and steady, without any anger, gentle yet compelling, with a soothing power.

Moreover, he always grasped the crux of the matter.

Right now, cursing isn’t useful; the key is to see how to counteract their moves.

”Don’t respond.” Song Chi spoke, ”At this time, no matter what we respond, they will seize something to fuel the second wave of marketing. We should just focus on our own promotion, not mentioning ’Mother and Son Inn’ related to anything, especially in media interviews coming up; make sure not to mention ’Mother and Son Inn’ or to respond to any of their provocations.”

”But if we don’t respond to anything, allowing them to direct public opinion and slander us, then later on, we will lose the initiative,” the long-haired man said.

”We still need to intensify our own promotional campaign.” Wu Chengbao said, ”In my view, just focus on our promotion. Song Chi is right, no matter what we respond, it only provides ’Mother and Son Inn’ more topics. We can’t let them monopolize the heat; just let them play their own game. Everyone isn’t a fool, both Hongcheng TV Station and Haiyu Net staging such a drama, unless they plan not to collaborate with us in the future, they wouldn’t go too far.”

Zhou Yun, as an outsider, had been silent all along.

She just listened.

The man with long shoulder-length hair spoke again, ”Then comes the second issue, how should we handle the promotion for ’Heart Inquiry’? Our scheduling was too hasty, Su Yan’s schedule doesn’t align, and Zhou Yun is about to join the filming soon.”

He glanced at Zhou Yun.

”The promotions requiring artists personally to take the stage are the most basic,” said a woman who hadn’t spoken until now, ”As for topic marketing and promotions, I’ll handle the plans, but the key lies in, what are the artists’ acceptance limits? Honestly speaking, the first two episodes aired today, from a promotion and marketing perspective, don’t have many enticing points to operate on; Zhou Yun and Su Yan had limited screen time focused mainly on Brother Chi, which included mainly male roles, and my team has been tracking all kinds of data, as of now, the discussion volume on various topics is lower than our estimation, and today’s aired episodes aren’t really the content that the main audience likes to watch.”

”Isn’t everyone discussing Brother Chi’s acting?” someone inquired.

The woman in charge of drama promotions straightforwardly stated, ”Brother Chi’s good acting is universally acknowledged, and while this discussion is heated, it’s not enough to convert onlookers into drama followers; the conversion rate is very low. In today’s market, rarely do people watch a show just because of an actor’s good performance. Actually, for the past six months about this drama前期 discussion, what the audience most wants to see are the romantic scenes involving Brother Chi, Su Yan, and Zhou Yun; a lot of real-time discussions today were also anticipating this.”
