Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 479: Chapter 376: Worse Than Ever

”They haven’t made any response?”

”No, the reporters I arranged also proactively interviewed them, but they did not respond.”

”Really cautious of them, they don’t want to give us any handle.”

The two people engaged in the conversation were an executive of Haiyu Net and a manager under him.

”But taking this step was right, the first day’s viewing figures for ’Mother and Son Inn’ doubled compared to the forecast. Just proceed according to the strategy we set before, it doesn’t matter if they don’t respond; the news we’ve released has already attracted attention.”

”Should we mention ’Heart Inquiry’ during today’s live event for ’Mother and Son Inn’?”

”Let the host bring it up, ask why ’Mother and Son Inn’ dares to set the same premiere date as a big production like ’Heart Inquiry’, and let our representative respond by saying it’s because we trust Director Niu Tu’s capabilities and believe in the quality of this drama. That’s all, I’ll arrange the rest.”

”Got it.”

...

Zhou Yun actually guessed that the ’Mother and Son Inn’ team wouldn’t easily give up on leveraging the popularity of ’Heart Inquiry’.

However, Zhou Yun really didn’t expect a party could be so shamelessly brazen.

That night, ’Mother and Son Inn’ held an online live event with the leading actors, a standard promotional tactic.

It was only when the host asked the question: ”Yesterday was not only the premiere date for ’Mother and Son Inn’, but also for a big production like ’Heart Inquiry’. President Cheng, what were your thoughts?”

President Cheng, dressed in a smart suit, smiled faintly, somewhat unexpectedly glancing at the host before saying, ”That’s quite a sharp question.”

The host laughed awkwardly.

President Cheng said: ”We at Haiyu Net are aware that ’Heart Inquiry’ brought together three major celebrities like Song Chi, Su Yan, and Zhou Yun. Ordinary dramas cannot compete with them, but I have confidence in Director Niu Tu, and I also have confidence in ’Mother and Son Inn’. In fact, up to an hour ago, the viewing figures for ’Mother and Son Inn’ have already surged to fifty million, which actually marks a phase of victory for this drama and proves that its quality has been recognized by the audience.”

”So, President Cheng, you mean ’Mother and Son Inn’ is not afraid of competition from ’Heart Inquiry’?”

”Of course, we’ve strictly controlled costs from the production phase. In fact, the pressure on ’Mother and Son Inn’ definitely isn’t as great as on ’Heart Inquiry’. The funding for one ’Heart Inquiry’ could produce ten ’Mother and Son Inn’.” President Cheng casually smiled, ”The achievements of our ’Mother and Son Inn’ are now more than just ten percent of ’Heart Inquiry’.”

...

Zhou Yun, seeing the clip of this live event on Weibo, was so irritated her eyes rolled.

Zheng Xiaojue noticed Zhou Yun’s anger and curiously turned to her, asking, ”Sister Xiao Yun, what made you so mad?”

Zhou Yun sneered, ”Some shameless people doing shameless things.”

Zheng Xiaojue blinked her large eyes, asking, ”What happened?”

Zhou Yun shook her head, ”Take a look.”

Zhou Yun handed her phone to Zheng Xiaojue.

After watching the video Zhou Yun had seen, Zheng Xiaojue immediately understood why Zhou Yun was so angry.

”President Cheng is really annoying! His words are so repulsive.” Zheng Xiaojue expressed her emotions unreservedly, ”By saying that, isn’t he just trying to create an illusion that ’Mother and Son Inn’ is achieving more with less? And bringing up ’Heart Inquiry’, what does it have to do with him? It’s not his money being spent on that big production, why is he being so sour!”

Zhou Yun hadn’t expected Zheng Xiaojue to actually grasp what the video was discussing. Previously, Zheng Xiaojue often couldn’t keep up with the conversations between her and Zhou Lan and didn’t understand what they were talking about. It seems like Zheng Xiaojue had gradually gotten to understand some things about the industry through exposure.

”He said those things during the live event, isn’t he afraid of provoking our dislike?” Zheng Xiaojue said puzzled, ”Isn’t he offending people this way?”

Zhou Yun replied, ”That’s exactly the effect he wants, to deliberately infuriate us or to use these words to anger the fans of ’Heart Inquiry’, provoking conflicts, so that the topic heat of ’Mother and Son Inn’ also surges. Anyway, they will benefit.”

”Sister Xiao Yun, based on what you’re saying, then we can’t respond to them?” Zheng Xiaojue said worriedly, ”If that’s the case, then we can only stew in our own frustration, right?”

Zhou Yun nodded, ”Yeah, if that’s the case, we can only stew in our own frustration. We still need to give them some trouble, we can’t let them be so reckless.”

Zheng Xiaojue fell into deep thought, clearly considering ways to cause some trouble for ’Mother and Son Inn’.

Seeing Zheng Xiaojue in thought, Zhou Yun laughed and said, ”Alright, we don’t need to rack our brains over this here. We have professionals to handle these things. It’s getting late, you should head home and rest.”

Zheng Xiaojue gave an acknowledgment, nodding and said, ”Then I will come over tomorrow morning. I need to catch a plane early in the morning, Sister Xiao Yun, I’ll be here at seven.”

Zhou Yun propped her face with her hand, saying, ”I really would rather stay up late than get up early.”

Zheng Xiaojue laughed and said, ”Go to bed early, then you can wake up early.”

Especially in winter. This season, whether it’s the overcast sky, the dim lighting, or the biting cold wind, makes one reluctant to move around. Having a small heater by the window, with central heating inside the house, enjoying the snow view through the window, is delightful. Being exposed directly to the cold, harsh wind of nature, even the seams of the bones are protesting.

Song Chi called Zhou Yun to inform her about a meeting at the company in the evening, telling her to go to sleep first.

Although she had anticipated it, receiving the call still made Zhou Yun sigh helplessly.

Unable to return home tomorrow, having to stay over in Beijing, and unable to meet Song Chi tonight, all because of that damnable President Cheng!

Zhou Yun thought, thankfully she hadn’t chosen Chen Jing; if she had chosen Chen Jing to co-star with her previously, she would probably be infuriated to death by now.

Although Zhou Yun knew that this issue probably had nothing to do with the actors Fan Zhu and Chen Jing, due to the issue at hand, her perception of them had also worsened.

Before going to sleep, she posted a tweet out of spite: Continuing to watch ’Heart Inquiry’ tonight.

Regardless of whatever tricks these clowns are playing, she fully believed in the quality of ’Heart Inquiry’ and was confident that the tricks of these clowns could not affect it.
