Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 464: Chapter 367: Three Audition Segments

Zhou Yun entered her dressing room, and shortly after, her phone suddenly rang.

It was a call from Gu Huaichun.

Zhou Yun answered the phone and asked, ”What a rare event, you actually called me.”

Gu Huaichun sneered, ”If I don’t call you, I wouldn’t see you calling me either.”

”Why would I need to call you when I’m not single now?” Zhou Yun retorted sarcastically.

”Right, you’re not single now, and me calling you – doesn’t that seem like I have an ulterior motive?” Gu Huaichun also retorted without yielding.

Zhou Yun: ”...Speak if you have business, get lost if you don’t.”

”I have business.”

”Then speak.”

”I have a classmate who auditioned today for ’Falling Leaves,’ please look after him.” Gu Huaichun’s tone carried no hint of pleading, still arrogant as ever.

Zhou Yun couldn’t blame him, after all, it was Gu Huaichun who put a lot of effort into getting Wang Jing the role for ’Dark Sky’ sequel.

Without Gu Huaichun’s approval, Wang Jing, who was a nobody at the time, wouldn’t have caught the producer’s eye.

Zhou Yun sighed and said, ”Let me be honest with you, the producer for this play is Shi Luoqi, the director is Xue Qin, and I’m just an actress, I really don’t have much say.”

Gu Huaichun: ”I know, I didn’t expect your word to have much effect anyway, I’m just doing my duty of goodwill. He’s my classmate, I couldn’t bear not to make the call.”

Zhou Yun: ”Okay, what’s your classmate’s name? If I get a chance, I will look after him within my capabilities, but if he’s really not up to par, then there’s nothing I can do. At most, if there’s a suitable opportunity in my company’s future productions, I’ll consider him.”

”Mhm,” said Gu Huaichun, ”His name is Wui Zhichang, his acting is pretty solid, definitely more capable than me. In school, he was the most praised by the teachers.”

”Got it,” Zhou Yun emphasized again, ”I’m not lying to you, I really can’t do much for this play. Even I, the lead actress, am still not highly regarded by the director. I always feel she wants to replace me.”

”Wow, this director really has guts. You should introduce me; it’s not easy these days to find a director who doesn’t want to use you and thinks about replacing you,” Gu Huaichun started taunting again.

”Get lost,” Zhou Yun cursed, ”Being such an excellent actress as myself, anyone who doesn’t regard me highly is simply blind.”

”Alright, I got it. I’ll go tell Director Xue right now that you called her blind.”

”Shut your mouth, I’m done talking to you.”

After hanging up the phone, Zhou Yun curled her lips in amusement.

Sometimes, it really is all about fate.

Some people initially do not get along when they first collaborate, but end up becoming friends, occasionally chatting on the phone, joking around with each other.

Some people complete their collaborations without any conflicts, yet their interactions remain as plain as water, leaving no memorable impressions, just like drinking plain water for months.

Gu Huaichun was the first type, and Li Ci was the second.

Half an hour later, the final round of auditions began.

This was in a theater, specially borrowed by Shi Luoqi for the auditions.

Zhou Yun sat in a dark spot at the back of the room.

Six male actors came up on stage one by one to perform.

These six male actors were all new but not completely inexperienced; from their resumes, they all had several years of acting experience, mostly in stage and drama.

Revisiting their resumes, Zhou Yun sort of understood the casting direction.

They wanted to avoid using famous actors, yet did not want completely inexperienced newbies. The idea was to give the audience a hundred percent fresh experience, yet not too green.

From the script, the character Wan Long was actually the one with the most acting space and had the most significant amount of scenes among the three male roles.

The first to perform was an actor named Chen Zhiang.

He was auditioning for the role of Zhong Qiulai.

Chen Zhiang’s audition excerpt was exactly the scene where he persuades Wan Duoyan to return to the United States over the phone.

There wasn’t much acting in this scene—it was all in the dialogue.

Chen Zhiang, holding a phone, stood on the stage, entering into performance, emotionally intense.

The second actor to take the stage was Zhang Mo, whose acting style was completely different from Chen Zhiang. Zhang Mo performed more restrained, his tone was not very excited, but his eyes were filled with drama: from initial forbearance to growing impatience, and then visible misunderstanding displayed directly on his face, among other emotions.
