Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 237: Chapter 228: Qian’s Fulfillment

Yu Mingli quickly cooperated with Qian, ”My sister-in-law was right. These two young ladies are about the same age, and mainly we want them to have fun. My younger brother is a bit busy with work usually, and his girlfriend here repeatedly urged us to take good care of them, haha.”

”Your brother seems like a straightforward person.” Mr. Teng’s eyes paused on his daughter’s face.

The greetings from outsiders had little effect on Teng Shuixian. She said coldly to Qian.

”If you can’t keep your promise, I’ll leave immediately. I hate people using me to get close to my father.”

”Shuixian!” Mr. Teng awkwardly smiled at Yu Mingli, ”My daughter here, I have spoiled her. Mr. Yu, please excuse us.”

”Come, watch the time.” Qian pointed to Teng Shuixian’s watch and picked up the Nine Linked Rings.

Teng Shuixian said to start, and all saw Qian’s ten fingers move swiftly, dazzling everyone present.

”Let me give you a trick, hold down two rings with your fingers and remove them, keeping your hand always holding on to the removed ring. This will increase your speed.”

As Qian explained, she was removing the rings, but what she was thinking about was her past life. When Yu Minglang used to hug her and guide her hands while teaching her, humans are indeed strange creatures. When they were together in their past life, she always thought their interactions were too quiet, but looking back after so many years, it was not so quiet after all.

The images of Yu Minglang from past and present overlapped in Qian’s mind. Recently, she occasionally dreamt, often unsure if it was the Yu Minglang from her past life or this life.

When they first started dating, Qian felt that young Yu Minglang looked different from the one she met in her past life. It felt like she had met a fake Yu Minglang.

However, as their relationship deepened, the drawn line in her heart began to blur, and she increasingly felt that he was just himself, no different from his past life.

Qian’s fingers were still quickly disentangling the Nine Linked Rings, with everyone only seeing her speedy fingers, unaware that there was a moment when her expression was dazed.

In her past life, maybe she really missed out on a love that should have been beautiful.

Teng Shuixian was initially skeptical, but when Qian’s hands moved faster and faster, her face finally showed belief. When Qian truly finished, she couldn’t help but reveal an admiring expression.

”You’re amazing, 4 minutes and 40 seconds.”

Qian placed the solved Nine Linked Rings on the table and returned to a calm state, modestly smiling.

”A bit rusty with my skills.”

”Can you teach me, any tips?” Teng Shuixian found a topic she was interested in, and began chatting.

Yu Mingli saw the situation and quickly had the waiter serve the dishes, starting idle chat with Mr. Teng, talking about inconsequential topics rather than business matters.

The dishes were soon served, and on Mr. Teng’s side, it was all relatively normal dishes, abalone, seafood, whatever was expensive, while in front of Qian were three small plates which seemed very ordinary, even calling them ordinary was polite, precisely speaking, they were a bit shabby.

In such a setting, these types of dishes shouldn’t appear: a plate of leek dumplings, a plate of fried yellow croaker, and a plate of scrambled eggs with tomatoes.

Noticing Mr. Teng’s odd look, Yu Mingli spoke the pre-arranged words with Qian.

”Sorry, Mr. Teng, my sister-in-law has some peculiar eating habits. She’s extremely picky, doesn’t like to eat, and we’ve been wondering if she’s planning to starve herself. The things she can eat are all these weird things.”

Mr. Teng didn’t show any displeasure but sighed appreciatively.

”Yes, my daughter is very picky with food as well. It’s a headache, making her eat something is quite difficult.”

”The young ones today, we don’t understand them, they’re all the same!” Yu Mingli raised his glass, and Mr. Teng clinked glasses with him.

It’s impossible they’re the same, Qian at most is a bit picky, but she’s definitely a normal person. Teng Shuixian’s picky eating has reached a pathological level, which Mr. Teng knows well but can’t say publicly.

Qian picked up a leek dumpling and said to Teng Shuixian, ”Want to try?”

”She already ate before coming, so she might not be hungry.” Mr. Teng answered for his daughter, also to avoid the awkwardness of Qian being refused.

Teng Shuixian is extremely picky, it’s common for her to not eat for two or three days, only drinking some rice soup, and sometimes even fainting from hunger and needing to get a nutritional drip. The house has all sorts of rare delicacies but no appetite. The unappealing leek dumplings, Mr. Teng thought his daughter wouldn’t eat.

But to his surprise, his extremely picky daughter actually took the leek dumpling from Qian’s hand and took a bite.

Qian smiled, also took one, pretending to enjoy it while biting into it. In truth, inside, Qian was silently crying.

It’s so awful... Being a doctor isn’t easy, to cure diseases, even such hideous things have to be swallowed, while pretending to enjoy it.

”Which side is the sun coming out on today? I must try this, it must be amazing for my daughter to eat so much.”

Yu Mingli was curious too. Yesterday, he tasted the scrambled eggs and fried fish, and the taste made him skip dinner. He hadn’t had the leek dumplings; could they be especially delicious?

The two bosses, filled with immense curiosity, each picked one up and bit into it.

And then, the world went silent.

”It’s awful, the leeks are too spicy, not handled well.” Qian was first to break the silence, watching the two big shots struggle with the bad taste, unable to spit it out, feeling quite gratified.

It’s not fair for only her to eat such a thing; this is perfect, if it’s awful, everyone suffers together.

At their status, the bosses couldn’t just spit it out, right? Being able to witness these two influential figures both being disgusted by a leek dumpling was fulfilling for Qian.

Serves you right, pretending and hiding your emotions all the time, come on, let’s hurt each other!

”These leeks, why are they so spicy!” Yu Mingli put down the leek dumpling, still with the spicy taste in his mouth, unlike chili pepper’s kind of spice, rather an unbearably bad taste.

”Is it awful?” Qian asked.

The elder brother could hardly laugh, feeling like his major deal was flying away.

”It’s awful.” The one who answered was Teng Shuixian. She said it was awful, but her hands didn’t stop, and she’d eaten more than half.

Mr. Teng was shocked, how did his daughter eat such awful tasting things? Qian then offered her a small fried fish.

”Try this as well.”

”Shuixian doesn’t eat fish.” Before Mr. Teng finished, he saw his daughter, who wouldn’t touch even the most luxurious deep-sea fish, biting into the meager little fish Qian handed her.

”Bitter...” Teng Shuixian said, her brows furrowed.

”I’ll try too, gosh, they didn’t clean out the gall, did they?” Qian said, pretending.

Yu Mingli swallowed hard, realizing the overly salty and horrible fried fish he ate yesterday wasn’t the final version. The final one was even enhanced, damn, not only salty but also bitter!

Not closing this deal is not a big issue now, what Yu Mingli worries is, by feeding such things to their beloved daughter, will it create enmity in the future?
