Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 208: Chapter 208: None of Us Are Gods

Hearing Dong Yi’s words, Yu Mingyi was not surprised; everyone thought he should stay, which was not surprising.

”Hmm, I’ll try to adapt and manage my emotions, striving to fly a few more years.” That resignation letter was written just to soothe his own feelings.

Yu Mingyi knew that unless he died in the sky, the company would not agree to let him go, nor would his father.

”Don’t force yourself! Uncle, money is precious, but isn’t your safety important too?”

Yu Mingyi never expected that the first person to support him would be Dong Yi.

”Training a pilot may be expensive, but nothing is more valuable than your life. Since you already have a rejection reaction, you should follow your heart, don’t wait until something happens to regret it. What could be more important than a human life?”

Yu Mingyi felt a lump in his throat, it was these words that were not first spoken by his family, but by a child he considered a junior.

”I don’t consider this an illness, the psychological intervention group said I have no problems.”

”That’s not right! If you already don’t like it, how is that not a problem! Qian said there are people who inherently have the ability to resist psychological testing, and you’re one of those people. If the psychologist can’t see it, then ask your heart. If your heart doesn’t like it, forcing it will definitely lead to a breakdown!”

Dong Yi rarely said so much, this was really holding it in.

She always felt that after she ”fell” this time, as soon as she opened her eyes, she saw her uncle, and something felt different about him.

Taking advantage of being sick to make speaking easier, she had to say everything she was thinking.

”Uncle, your life is priceless, and flying is such a precise job. If you keep going like this, I’m really afraid you’ll break down, and then, I, I... I would be very sad!”

Yu Mingyi silently watched her, tears still hanging on her eyelashes.

”Waa!” Panpan seemed to have a nightmare and cried on the other bed, Yu Mingyi snapped out of it and immediately turned awkwardly, picked up his son, and patted him twice.

”He might need to use the bathroom, I’ll take him outside.”

Yu Mingyi almost fled with Panpan, opening the door to see his parents standing outside, and he widened his eyes in surprise.

”Dad, Mom?”

Upon hearing him call ”Dad, Mom,” Dong Yi struggled to sit up. Just then, Qian came in with some fruit, and seeing this scene, she keenly noticed Mr. Yu’s expression at Mr. Yu, and the shrewd Qian pretended not to see, going in to help Dong Yi lie down.

”Dad, why are you here?” Yu Mingyi didn’t expect his father to come, nor did he know how much he heard, but seeing the old man’s expression, it was clearly displeased.

”Came to check on you, we’ll talk about your issue later.” Mr. Yu had just finished speaking to him when Dong Yi heard it and struggled to sit up, with Qian quickly supporting her.

”Don’t blame my uncle, I said everything, I just feel you shouldn’t treat him like that!”

Qian immediately pulled her sleeve after hearing this.

Mr. Yu, with his status and temper, was not someone Dong Yi, a young girl, could confront head-on, but Dong Yi at this moment couldn’t care less, shook off Qian’s hand, and pointed at Mr. Yu.

”If you’re going to hit, hit me. Don’t talk about my uncle, you’ve pushed him to this point already, can’t you see how he’s hurting! He’s been living for you for thirty years, living unhappily, getting married, and divorced, working a job he doesn’t like. Having kids isn’t like playing with puppets you can manipulate—”

”Dong Yi, stop talking!” Yu Mingyi was breaking out in cold sweat.

He hurriedly blocked his father, ”Dad, she’s young, just a child, don’t take it to heart.”

”Get out of my way.” Mr. Yu pushed him aside, and Dong Yi, seeing him push so hard, didn’t care that she still felt dizzy and actually wanted to stand up against Mr. Yu.

Mrs. Yu got scared when she saw this, glanced at Qian, and signaled her to hold back, Qian shrugged with a helpless expression.

Some people just aren’t afraid, they’re ready to go all out with that surge of energy. Back when someone slandered Mr. Yu, Dong Yi was able to say to set someone on fire. Confronting an elder was nothing in comparison, not to mention, Dong Yi didn’t know Mr. Yu’s identity.

”Let her finish what she has to say. This little girl dares to confront me!” Mr. Yu felt humiliated by being confronted by Dong Yi in front of a room full of people.

”I’m just speaking on the matter, not confronting you. I just feel you should respect my uncle. If you want to serve the unit, do it yourself, don’t make my uncle a scapegoat.”

”Nonsense, what scapegoat!” Mr. Yu was so angry that veins were showing.

”How is he not a scapegoat! Do you know he gets agitated just sitting in the cockpit? Do you know he has stress-induced recurring dreams? You let him be a good child since he was little, he was a good child for so many years, when can he live for himself! He’s not your medal, he’s a person, with independent thoughts, with things he likes, why can’t you respect his wishes! Even if he stops flying and does something else, isn’t he still serving the country? Are other positions without contribution?!”

After Dong Yi finished speaking, the room fell into a dead silence.

Qian also didn’t expect her silent partner to speak so powerfully, that she could render Mr. Yu speechless.

By the end of her words, Dong Yi was in tears.

”Who can understand the feeling of clearly not liking something but having to strive for family? I remember my uncle said, if no one in the family was a pilot anymore, his father’s dream wouldn’t be fulfilled, if not him, then who? How much he cares for this family, how much he cares for the people in it, caring about the family’s feelings—is it foolish? How do you see my uncle? With just a phrase ’good child’, you sum him up, but besides these three words, don’t you have any other impression of him in your hearts, he’s a person, a living person...”

At the end, she burst into tears, making Mrs. Yu’s eyes red.

”We never treated him as a tool, nor did we undervalue him—we—”

He couldn’t continue; saying this made it feel heavy, as if they had mistreated the second child a lot.

Actually, it wasn’t intentional neglect. It’s just, with many children in the house, some may depend on themselves while others need attention, and naturally, neglect happens unintentionally. Parents aren’t deities, unable to be perfectly fair. All these children, they love them equally. As Dong Yi cried out these words, Mrs. Yu’s heart truly ached, feeling she had failed the second child greatly.

Qian, seeing the chaos, quickly stepped in to mediate, patting Dong Yi to comfort her emotions.

”Isn’t all this quite normal?”

Mr. Yu was fuming, Mrs. Yu was sad, Mr. Yu was looking at Dong Yi with a complicated expression, and Dong Yi, lying in Qian’s arms crying, listened as Qian spoke, and everyone turned their attention to her.
