Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 235: Chapter 226: Sugar and Fists (100+ Monthly Ticket Update)

If Qian were the Qian from 10 years ago, she might not be as insightful. But that’s how life has shaped her understanding. If she doesn’t end up with Yu Minglang, it won’t matter that much. But if they ever reach the point of sharing a household registration, can she escape the influence of the Yu Family?

Obviously, it’s impossible. Even if she tries to distance herself, would outsiders do the same?

Wherever she goes, she’ll be labeled as part of the Yu Family. Since she can’t avoid it, she might as well stand firm from the start and use her ability to prove everything.

Jia Xiufang chatted casually with Qian for a while before quickly shifting the conversation to the results of today’s negotiations with their eldest uncle’s family.

”Qian’er, your eldest uncle said that we’re all family, so let’s not make things too big. We won’t sue your second uncle. As for the house, we’ll split it among the three families. Your second uncle’s two kids also came over today and agree with this.”

Qian scoffed, ”My eldest uncle sure knows how to play peacemaker. He wants our family to be the bad guys while he acts like a good guy and still wants a free house?”

”Well, your eldest uncle has a point. No matter what, he’s my brother. If we really go to court, no one will look good.”

”There’s room for negotiation, but you can’t just agree to whatever eldest uncle says. He wants to be the good guy on both sides and throw you out to be the bad one. No way!”

”Then what do you suggest?” Jia Xiufang asked Qian.

”When asking for help, people should have the right attitude. If they want to negotiate, they need to come to you directly. Eldest uncle doesn’t have the final say. When we were in trouble, did he step up to help? Now he wants to be the head of the family, but who gives him face? Yu Minglang’s lawyer friends have already notified our local resettlement office. Without a signature from all three of you, nobody can take the money.”

”Oh?! Is that even possible?”

”Usually, the money from demolition is given to the homeowner. Right now, it’s not that strict. In cases like second uncle’s, where the house deed is in my grandmother’s name, if no one causes trouble, my grandmother’s agreement makes it his. But now that Yu Minglang’s lawyer has raised doubts, the resettlement office will put a hold on it and consider the house disputed. If you don’t sign, if eldest uncle doesn’t sign, nobody can take it. If anyone tries to take the house, I’ll sue them until they’re left with just their underwear!”

Qian means that unless second uncle’s family has the right attitude, no one should think about taking the house. The topic of supporting the elderly must be discussed among the families; don’t treat Jia Xiufang like a fool.

”Qian’er, wouldn’t acting this way offend your eldest uncle’s family too?”

”Mom, you’re mistaken. Let me tell you, if you give someone a candy, they’ll forget about you after eating it. But if you give them a slap, they’ll remember you for a lifetime. After this incident, see who dares to bully our family anymore. When kindness and malice meet, the kind always suffers. But does being kind help you now? If you don’t fight, what happens to the elders?”

”I’ll take care of them.”

”That’s not going to work. My grandmother, though muddled, still wants her sons to care for her at heart. Don’t feel guilty about this. Look at it from another angle: if my grandfather were alive, how would he distribute things?”

”Your grandfather... would definitely give the house to the sons and some money to me, or maybe buy our family a car.”

Qian nodded, ”So, we’re just following grandfather’s wishes now. If he were alive, you siblings might not be fighting over money, and there would still be someone to take care of the elderly. Ultimately, it’s because my grandmother isn’t managing her children well. Now that she’s muddled, we’re helping her settle things.”

Seeing Jia Xiufang still didn’t understand, Qian patted her, ”We’ll split the house evenly, freeze the elderly’s money, and whoever takes care of them well gets the money. If second uncle can rotate with you to take care of the elderly, give them the money after the elderly pass away — you don’t need it. This way, someone will take care of the elderly, and he won’t cause trouble. Eldest uncle doesn’t want to provide care, but he must pay. This money goes towards healthcare and food for the elderly.”

Initially, second uncle wanted to take everything, but Yu Minglang had a hold on it before it escalated. In the large scale, it’s a criminal case; in small scale, it’s a family dispute. By putting second uncle at rock bottom before giving him some small benefits, he can be managed obediently.

If Jia Xiufang is always soft, even if she takes a step back, second uncle would take everything for granted without being grateful, so better to force him to a dead end and then give him a way out. Only then will he respect Jia Xiufang — that’s the nature of people.

Jia Xiufang was swayed by Qian and had a plan in mind. Now she couldn’t oppose her daughter, whose brain was sharper than anything.

After calming her mother, Qian called Chen Zilong over.

”Dalong, tomorrow you follow mom. If our cousins come over, and eldest uncle tries to convince mom to sign and agree with second uncle, lie down on the couch and refuse to get up. Complain that you’re in pain and make mom take you to the hospital to disrupt everything.”

”Sis, such a big deal, why aren’t you at home?”

”I have even bigger issues to handle.” The demolition of this small house isn’t significant to Qian; she just wanted to vent and deal with those tricky relatives.

Compared to the price of a house, the business Qian has tomorrow is as big as a plot of land.

”I’m a bit unsure... Sis, I want to buy a phone.”

Chen Zilong didn’t care about much else; he just knew their home is going to be demolished, which means he might get money.

A middle schooler wanting a phone? Qian internally sneered at this brat who only thinks about showing off but displayed a friendly smile.

”Dalong, you’re the boy of this house. The greater the ability, the greater the responsibility. If you want something, you must achieve it through your efforts. Do you understand?”

Chen Zilong’s eyes lit up, ”Sis, are you saying if I handle what you’ve told me, you’ll buy me a phone?”

Qian smiled silently, leaving the not-so-bright Chen Zilong smoothly tricked by his sister.

”Sis, don’t worry, I’ll definitely sort out what you told me clearly.”

”There’s also one more thing: if anyone dares to verbally attack or insult mom, you should fight back, as hard as you can. If you can’t, note it down and tell Lang.”

Given this sacred task, Chen Zilong felt like a real man, patting his chest loudly.

”Sis, rest assured, it’ll be perfect.”

After handling matters, Qian did a quick cleanup and lay on the bed to rest.

To her, these were small issues and didn’t feel tiring. She had eaten a bit too much earlier at Yu Minglang’s parents’ home and then tasted dishes at her brother’s place in the afternoon, leaving her feeling slightly indigested.

She was about to sit up and ask Jia Xiufang for some hawthorn pills.

Jia Xiufang pushed the door open and entered, holding a plate of food.

Seeing this, Qian let out a helpless groan and pulled the blanket over herself.
