Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 218: Chapter 218: Drawn by the Scent of Money (Extra for 1,800 Monthly Tickets)

For someone who grew up in an environment with a strong preference for males, Jia Xiufang has really made great progress to get to this point.

”Silly girl, what you earn is yours. I’ve only got two kids, you and your brother, so my money will be yours in the future.” Jia Xiufang felt warm being hugged by her daughter, and thinking about how tough the past years had been for her, tears began to fall.

Finally able to provide a better life for the kids, the bitterness has turned into sweetness.

”Mom, don’t say these things in front of Zilong, especially when it comes to money. You absolutely shouldn’t say it like that, don’t give him the impression that all your money is for him, understand?” When it comes to Chen, Qian has to be cautious.

That kid would start misbehaving as soon as he has money; if you want him to succeed, you absolutely can’t let him have the idea that he can rely on his mother.

”Qian’er, if your brother asks about money, what should I say?” Jia Xiufang also felt her son was a bit cocky; if she told him, this boy would definitely become worse.

”Regarding the relocation, you can’t hide it. How much money, how many houses, there are plenty of people who will tell him. If that kid learns we’ve become suddenly wealthy, he’ll definitely turn bad, might even go out showing off and making random friends. He’s the type who wouldn’t even realize he’s been sold out.”

Qian’s analysis of her brother is pretty accurate; Chen is precisely the type who’s lacking in common sense, blindly pursuing brotherhood and has a strong admiration for those mingling in society, always wanting to do great things but achieving nothing.

”Qian’er, don’t talk about your brother like that, when you’re away studying, your brother always misses you. He’s still young and sometimes doesn’t understand things, but remember, you are siblings, and at any time, when encountering issues, family is always more reliable, got it?”

Qian rolled her eyes, ”Mom, your thinking is wrong. What do you mean by he’s still young? Let me tell you, he’s young, but we’re not young anymore. If we don’t handle this brat well, the little child inside will never grow up. I definitely don’t want to clean up his mess in the future.”

Jia Xiufang originally intended to argue back a bit, but then glanced out the window and saw Chen Zilong pushing a bicycle out of the yard; outside the courtyard were also two yellow-haired boys with bicycles.

”Zilong, where are you going!” Jia Xiufang shouted as she opened the window.

”Mom, we’re going out shopping, I’ll be back soon.” After shouting, Chen Zilong pedaled off on his bike, not coming back no matter how much Jia Xiufang called, leaving her furious.

”This little rascal! I’ve been saying it all along, he should not hang out with those riffraff, but he just won’t listen! The little bit of money in his pocket, I should’ve taken it away. I bet those two guys are bringing him to play video games and making him treat them, it drives me crazy!”

The money Chen Zilong earned from doing odd jobs, besides buying gifts for his mom and sister, he also kept a little for himself. Qian’s control stopped him from gaming, and normally there’s nothing much to spend on; these few bad friends constantly invite him out to play, Jia Xiufang couldn’t stop them.

”See, what did I say? With his type, if you don’t manage him, sooner or later, he’ll squander all your money.”

Chen Zilong isn’t fundamentally rotten; he’s just lacking common sense and has the unique juvenile delusion temperament of an edgy kid, always wanting to be cool and doing silly things.

”I’ll put it in a fixed deposit.” Jia Xiufang now had nobody to consult, she discussed everything with Qian.

”I’ve already said, don’t put it in a fixed deposit. Use the money to buy property. I’ll tell you where to buy. Don’t buy residential housing, buy commercial property. Exchange as much commercial space as you can for the 200 square meters. Buying two or three sets of residential housing is useless; how much rent can you get? You need commercial shops. How much would the rent be?”

”Then where do we live? You don’t even have a single house; the three of us won’t have a home.” Jia Xiufang was startled by her daughter.

”Who said we won’t have a home? My grandma’s apartment, we’ll directly get a three-bedroom unit, adding a little extra money would be enough.”

According to Qian’s calculations, after the relocation, Jia Xiufang could have one commercial property, one residential property, and use all the money to buy the soon-to-be relocated flat, getting more apartments post-relocation. Her mother could become wealthy just living off the rent for the rest of her life.

”My grandma... I forgot about that!” Jia Xiufang suddenly remembered; her own mother had been living with her for half a year, and her second sister-in-law’s family hadn’t visited once, probably thinking they had gained a big advantage.

”How’s my grandma been recently?” Qian asked.

”Still the same, her mind is a bit muddled. Yesterday she even asked who Zilong was. Recently, she’s been speaking incoherently. I asked the people at the health center, they said she’s old and has a bit of dementia. I wanted to discuss this with your second uncle, but he hung up when I called and let the dogs loose when I visited...oh, what to do.”

Seeing her mother so distressed, Qian didn’t say much, she simply patted her.

Comparing to the time when her grandmother got dementia in her past life, it’s already been delayed a bit. Jia Xiufang has truly cared for the elderly, and her grandmother has somewhat enjoyed life. Sadly, birth, old age, sickness, and death are unchangeable things.

”Qian’er, regarding your grandma’s apartment, can we really have a share?” Jia Xiufang wasn’t caring for the elderly with an eye on the inheritance; she hadn’t paid much attention to her daughter’s talk about needing a house, especially since there hadn’t been any relocation, but now that it’s happening, the house has become a big deal.

”Mom, now is not the time for you to retreat if you want to. How have they been involved during the years you’ve cared for the elderly? You’ve served the elderly for so long, what have their family done? Pull yourself together; this house, you have to get it!”

Qian deliberately provoked her mother to prevent her from voluntarily giving up.

”It’s not about whether you want to compete anymore. For the sake of this house, there will inevitably be a fight between you, my eldest uncle, and my second uncle. My second uncle’s family bullied you for so many years while occupying the old lady’s money. It’s time to give them a taste of their own medicine. Even if you don’t say anything, my eldest uncle will certainly take action.”

Relocation really tests human nature. It’s not just happening in their family; other families also have similar disputes over inheritance.

As if to verify Qian’s words, while she was discussing this with Jia Xiufang inside, there was a commotion outside.

Even upstairs, they could hear the yelling below.

”Xiufang! Xiufang, are you home?” The voice of her second aunt was extremely penetrating, sharp enough to hurt their ears even from upstairs.

”Coming!” Jia Xiufang responded, whispering to Qian.

”See, her nose is sharper than a dog’s, comes rushing over as soon as she smells the money.”

Grandma had been staying here for quite a while, fell sick several times during her stay. Jia Xiufang cycled her on a tricycle several times past her second uncle’s house but never said a word about visiting grandma, much less bringing any food or fruits over; they never even showed up once.

Now, when talk of relocation began, they immediately showed up.

Jia Xiufang brought Qian downstairs, only to see her second aunt had two burly cousins in tow, and her second uncle with a face full of meat also came.
