Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 210: Chapter 210: Proud of You

After flying a lap with his dad, Mr. Yu didn’t mention anything about staying at the unit, but there was an unspoken bond between father and son.

Once they landed smoothly, Mr. Yu took off his helmet.

”I truly love this blue sky, and although there are times I want to give up, as long as I’m soaring in the sky, guarding the airspace, my heart is full of strength. Now that I’m older, I’ve surpassed the flying age, otherwise, I’d really want to personally take you flying, so you can see for yourself what an incredible experience you’re giving up!”

”You... agreed?” Yu Mingyi heard his father’s words and wondered if it meant he agreed to him resigning?

Was this the sun rising from a different side?

”You’ve all grown up and have your own ideas. What I think is the best, maybe you’ve already grown out of...” Mr. Yu looked at the blue sky with a sense of longing. It was the most beautiful sight in his eyes.

Yu Mingyi’s nose tingled with a bit of soreness.

In that moment, he suddenly understood that his father’s feelings for him were not imposed; rather, his father truly wanted to share the world’s best things with them.

”You still have a few years before reaching the resignation age. If you really can’t fly and truly hate it, I will arrange for you to be transferred to ground duty. When you reach the unit’s stipulated age, you can choose whether to stay or leave, I won’t force you.”

”Dad?” Yu Mingyi had truly not expected his father would say such words.

”I am heartbroken that a talent trained by the unit at great cost would make such a decision. But if you really can’t fly because of physical reasons, to protect you and the unit’s property, we respect your choice.”

As his father was about to leave, Yu Mingyi called out to him.

”Then, as a father, what do you think of this issue?”

Mr. Yu tossed the helmet to him.

”As long as you’re happy.”

In that moment, the sunlight reflected on his father’s head, the white hair clearly visible. Yu Mingyi looked at his father against the light, recalling how he always looked up to him as a child, only now realized that his father was actually shorter than him and had gradually grown older.

When his father said ”as long as you’re happy,” Yu Mingyi’s eyes turned slightly red.

Mr. Yu walked over and patted his shoulder, ”I am very happy to have been able to sit in a plane you piloted before you make a final decision. You are one of the best pilots I’ve ever seen, whatever decision you make... Son, I am proud of you... Dammit, that girl Qian must have influenced me, this is so corny.”

Mr. Yu awkwardly looked away, not wanting to see his son’s emotional expression.

”But I’m warning you, you brat. Whether you switch posts or resign is up to you, but if you don’t do well in another post and waste the family’s efforts in nurturing you, I’ll still whack you. No matter how old you are, you’re still my son!”

The last words were so soft that Yu Mingyi almost thought he was hearing things.

His father’s figure had already walked away.

Yu Mingyi stood on the runway, watching the planes take off and land, staring at the long tails the planes left in the clear blue sky.

His father’s words and Dong Yi’s words alternated in his mind, his father asked, do you really dislike the blue sky, do you really hate being a proud pilot...

Dong Yi said, the scene of him saving people frequently appeared in her dreams.

The joy of being lifted above his father’s head when he said he wanted to be a pilot as a child, the excitement of his first flight, and the sense of mission during his rescue missions merged together, and his heart replaced by impulse.

Looking at the blue sky, the aircraft not far away, that feeling of annoyance suddenly disappeared. A sense of anticipation, passion, a renewed sense of honor and longing spread in his heart, Yu Mingyi muttered to himself.

”I... want to try again...”

In the hospital, Mrs. Yu had already left first, and Qian was accompanying Dong Yi.

”Qian, why do you think my uncle hates flying, really... isn’t there another way?”

”People’s feelings at certain times may just be a matter of too much intensity, what’s commonly called ’being stuck in a rut,’ which is an emotional state almost everyone experiences. Some people get over it, while others never do. Honestly, how many people in this world truly know what they like?”

”I really hope he can get through this because I faintly feel he might not be emotionless towards the sky.” The Yu Mingyi in Dong Yi’s dreams, from the moment he stepped down from the plane, he seemed like heaven’s pride, eternally engraved in her heart.

”I guess Uncle already has a plan. No matter how many big theories a psychologist tells him, they can’t compare to a warm word from a family member. Sometimes I can’t figure out——”

Before Qian finished her sentence, her phone rang.

It was a text from Yu Minglang.

”Qian, have you eaten yet? Are you busy with your studies? I’m fine, five back.”

Qian laughed.

He probably took time during a break to quickly send a text, and before he could finish it, the break was over, so he had to turn off the phone, leaving no time to correct the typos.

’Five back’ was probably supposed to be ’don’t reply’?

She laughed at her phone, while Dong Yi waited for her unfinished sentence.

”Qian?”

”What I wanted to say is, sometimes I don’t understand why, often times, the key to solving many mental issues might just be the simplest word from someone who cares. To an outsider, it might just be an ordinary sentence, but it could have an incalculable impact on the person involved.”

Like the typo-ridden text sent by Yu Minglang in his spare time, absolutely meaningless but comforting when read.

”Why is the human heart so complex...?” Dong Yi didn’t get it. She racked her brains but couldn’t figure it out.

”Yes, the human heart is the most complex and simplest thing. A random sentence can leave someone with a shadow for life, but a random sentence could also solve years of mental anguish. Many illnesses we are still researching and exploring, it’s very interesting.” Qian said with profound significance, studying complex conditions was her lifelong pursuit.

When Dong Yi was discharged, Yu Mingyi came to pick her up. As he dropped her off at the school’s entrance, Yu Mingyi said to Dong Yi somewhat uneasily.

”Dong Yi, I’ve decided to temporarily withdraw my resignation.”

”Is it because Grandpa disagreed? Did I cause trouble for you? I’ll go apologize to Grandpa, ask him not to make things difficult for you.”

”No, it’s me——” It felt a bit embarrassing to say this to someone younger, but Yu Mingyi decided to tell Dong Yi anyway.

”I’m better now.”

”Huh?”

”The feeling of hatred is gone, in any case, after I cancel the leave, I will return to flying, you... don’t worry about me anymore.”

After flying a lap with his father, Yu Mingyi had been standing at the airport for hours, that oppressive feeling seemed to vanish suddenly.

Dong Yi saw his heartfelt expression, and she broke into a bright smile.

”As long as you’re happy.”

Yu Mingyi also flashed her a cheerful smile, a smile that left Dong Yi utterly stunned.
