Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 209: Chapter 209: Once a Chuunibyou Too

”Second Brother cares about his parents, and Uncle and Aunt care about Second Brother, but no one is a worm in another’s belly. They are eager to express affection but fail to communicate correctly, leading to chaos. We are all family, not class enemies. If we sit down and talk openly, everything will be fine.”

The typical mode of interaction in Chinese families is silent expression, with little communication. There are barriers and generational gaps, but it doesn’t mean there is no affection. What Dong Yi said from her unique perspective about Mr. Yu is only half right. For people like Mr. and Mrs. Yu’s generation to achieve this is already remarkable. You can’t hold them to the standards of the younger generation.

”If everyone could be perfect, we wouldn’t need psychologists. It takes all kinds to make a world. The reason the world is so colorful is precisely because everyone is different. Otherwise, wouldn’t thousands of families live the same way? In the end, it’s just a matter of love and being loved but not expressing it clearly.”

”You little girl, don’t act like a peacemaker! It’s really sickening...” Mr. Yu was still angry, but his mood had somewhat softened.

Qian wasn’t upset by being scolded, and she said with a smile.

”Honestly, Uncle, from a psychologist’s point of view, although Second Brother and you have some communication barriers, a family with a distorted and unloving atmosphere couldn’t raise a responsible man like Second Brother. Why does Second Brother care so much about you? Isn’t it because of his attachment to family? In a family with shallow feelings like yours, they’d have hated each other long ago. How could they blame themselves?”

Qian’s timely intervention eased the situation a bit.

Dong Yi also stopped her tears and thought for a moment, ”I’m sorry, what I said earlier was a bit over the line.”

”Hmph, you little brat, you’re the first to dare point at my nose and scold me.” Mr. Yu snorted. Seeing that he seemed less angry, Yu Mingyi glanced gratefully at Qian, thinking her every word hit the mark.

”But I stand by my opinion. Please let Uncle choose what he likes for himself!” Dong Yi lowered her head, intending to bow, but forgot she was still recovering from a concussion. As she lowered her head, her vision went black, and she fell forward. Qian hurriedly supported her.

”Take good care of yourself, Yu Mingyi, you, come back to the unit with me!” Mr. Yu pointed at Yu Mingyi. Dong Yi wanted to say something but was silenced by Qian, who stuffed fruit in her mouth. When she’d freed herself, Mr. Yu and Yu Mingyi had already left.

”Qian—”

”Enough, you’ve said plenty already.” Qian made a shushing gesture.

Mrs. Yu scooped a bowl of soup for Dong Yi, ”Thank you, young lady. If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t have known about Mr. Yu’s issues.”

”Grandma, I didn’t mean to be disrespectful. I was just...” Dong Yi felt a bit regretful about her harsh words earlier, seeing how kind Mrs. Yu was to her.

Actually, she could have expressed herself more tactfully, not having Qian’s finesse.

”It’s alright. You were concerned about Mr. Yu; I understand. Alas, it’s our fault for communicating too little with him.”

Mr. Yu had been sensible since childhood. Some things Mr. and Mrs. Yu thought he knew without needing a heart-to-heart, and they never expected he would suffer so much.

”Auntie, it’s alright. Please don’t blame yourself. Every family has its bumps; it’s all too normal. Maybe if Second Brother and Uncle talk, they might resolve their issues.”

”Hopefully.” Mrs. Yu sighed, uncertain if her husband would lose his temper with Mr. Yu now.

Yu Mingyi was in his father’s car, and the driver drove to the unit’s airfield.

”I’ll give you some time; go change clothes. I’ll wait for you each half an hour.”

”Dad, what do you plan to do?” Yu Mingyi didn’t understand his father’s intentions.

”Follow orders! Why so much nonsense!”

Yu Mingyi changed his clothes and arrived at the airfield, and to his surprise, his father was also in his flight attire, even wearing a helmet?

The unit’s leaders heard Mr. Yu was here and all gathered because Mr. Yu had rendered outstanding service to the unit back in the day. Mr. Yu was giving a speech when he saw Yu Mingyi approaching and called out a command.

”Yu Mingyi!”

”Present!”

”Prepare for takeoff!”

”Yes!” Yu Mingyi boarded the plane with his father.

The unit leaders exchanged glances.

”What’s Mr. Yu up to...?” one leader asked, taken aback by immediately getting on a plane after arriving.

”He knows how to teach his son well. Like father, like son.” Another leader remarked, watching the Yu father and son board the plane, expressing admiration.

Yu Mingyi sat silently alongside his father in a two-seater light aircraft, the training plane for beginners at the airfield, a piece of cake for Yu Mingyi.

Sitting in the cockpit wasn’t new, but having his father beside him was a first. Yu Mingyi couldn’t put into words the feelings he had.

Since childhood, he’d known his father was a remarkable pilot. When was a few years old, he told his father that he wanted to fly planes when grew up. His father was thrilled, holding him up on his shoulders. Growing up and flying planes had been a reality, but there was never a moment like now, seeing his father in that seat.

He skillfully executed flight procedures, and until the plane took off and soared into the sky, Mr. Yu remained silent.

Watching his son pilot the plane with ease, Mr. Yu spoke.

”Do you particularly hate flying and the blue sky?”

”Actually, not really...” Yu Mingyi also had no idea how things turned out this way.

When he first joined the unit and got on a plane, he was also thrilled, but over the past two years, the pressure had been mounting, especially after marrying Wang Xiaohong. He often felt inexplicably frustrated.

”There are times when I hate it too.”

Mr. Yu’s words widened Yu Mingyi’s eyes in surprise. He’d always thought his father was the kind of person who’d shed his last drop of blood in the sky.

”From the outside, people always see pilots as especially remarkable. But let them come up here and try it! Crammed into a cockpit the size of a desk, mentally on edge, wrapped up like a leather dumpling. Look at the uniform, it’s dashing, but once while wearing it, they can’t take it! They say our salaries are high, but that’s what we risk our lives for. Pilots must have this kind of treatment!”

Yu Mingyi nodded; his father had never shared these thoughts, yet they resonated deeply with him.

”That younger sibling of mine B always obnoxiously saying we’re like birds flying all over the sky every day. But he knows nothing!”

”Yeah, especially before takeoff, we’re bossed around by ground staff like grandsons. Whatever they say, we do. It’s frustrating, constantly being regulated in such a tight space.”

”Exactly, it feels just like that.”

Finally, there was a point of connection, instantly bringing them closer.

When the plane takes off and soars through the clouds, it’s truly exhilarating. Haha, no one can control it’s a liberating feeling, like being a king up in the sky. You look down and laugh at those things your mom can’t handle anymore! Once you fly high, you’re the top of the sky!” Mr. Yu said with pride.

Yu Mingyi was left speechless, realizing his father also had such a whimsical side?
