Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 228: Chapter 228: Still Just a Kid

This afternoon, they plan to handle the money allocation, but without the old lady’s signature, at least there should be some authorization letter; otherwise, the money can’t be released.

With Yu Minglang blocking them, Second Uncle couldn’t get the elder and, under Second Aunt’s instigation, came up with this lousy idea, not realizing they’d run into Yu Minglang’s line of fire.

”Yaming, take charge of filing the lawsuit. I have to return to the army tomorrow, so I might not be able to follow up on everything,” Yu Minglang patted his friend’s shoulder.

Yaming nodded, ”The priority is to nullify the authorization letter they have. If, as you say, the elder is already demented and incapacitated, their actions will surely face legal trouble. We can also sue for the unauthorized entry and drugging of the elderly.”

Yu Minglang nodded; he’s fully capable of handling this, but he can’t manage it himself, so he’s leaving it to his friend to save Qian the effort.

Jia Xiufang was deeply shocked, ”Drugging the elderly!!!”

How despicable, for a bit of money, they abandoned mom and went crazy like this. The elder is so old, this could harm her immeasurably.

”I’ve already called an ambulance; it should be here soon,” Yu Minglang said.

Qian patted Jia Xiufang, ”I told you not to use your moral standards to restrict rotten people, and don’t let others’ mistakes upset you, Mom. Just leave everything to us and don’t worry or soft-hearted about their family matters.”

When goodness meets evil, it’s always the goodness that gets hurt first. To protect those around her cherishing this ”goodness,” she doesn’t mind becoming the ”evil.”

With Yu Minglang and Qian, Jia Xiufang didn’t have to worry at all. Yu Minglang arranged everything clearly in advance, the elder was sent to the hospital, and the doctor confirmed she was drugged. The dosage wasn’t high, so a stomach pump was not necessary, but Jia Xiufang was furious. After calling Big Uncle, he immediately said he would come over and join Jia Xiufang in confronting Second Uncle’s family.

Second Uncle’s family obtained the elder’s fingerprint authorization letter and excitedly went to collect the money. The initial resettlement fund from the demolition was 50,000 yuan, issued as a check. They were thrilled with the check, and all the elder’s ID documents were with them. Fearing unforeseen circumstances, they rushed straight to the bank after leaving the village committee.

Everyone was trying to collect this money, so the queue was quite long. Second Aunt waited feeling both anxious and smug.

”Chen Xiaoqian, that little misfortune bringer, thought she was so capable, huh? Didn’t the money still get collected by us? What’s the big deal about finding a soldier? Soldiers are all poor, serves her right to be poor all her life.”

”Hurry and get the money; I just feel a bit uneasy.” Second Uncle was intimidated by Yu Minglang.

”What’s so uneasy? The elder’s fingerprint is with us, the ID is in our home, the household registration is in our home too, the demolition office recognizes these things, not people. Let them keep that damn old lady, serves them right!”

Just as Second Aunt was boasting, it was her turn in line. She was delighted and held the check and elder’s documents, just when she was about to hand them over, a hand slapped her shoulder.

”What the hell, get in line, don’t cut!” Second Aunt was staring intently as the bank clerk used the account machine to count the money, soon it’d be hers too.

”Are you Hao Dapao and Zhen Xiaojie?”

Second Uncle and Second Aunt turned around simultaneously, several plainclothes officers stood beside them.

”We suspect you’re involved in unauthorized entry and poisoning the elder. Please cooperate with us for further investigation.”

”Who poisoned anyone! We just gave some sleeping pills!” Second Uncle shouted, and Second Aunt immediately slapped him.

”You idiot, spouting nonsense!”

It’s over, all over. No need for interrogation, this fool directly admitted!

Handling these two idiots required no effort, they confessed everything clearly at the station. Second Aunt had a slight legal awareness, but Second Uncle was indignant, not feeling wrong at all.

He argued at the police station, insisting it was his mother, he’s the son, so shouldn’t the demolition money go to the son rather than the daughter? As for the drugging, that was even simpler, he thought the elder was too old and forgetful, refused to press her fingerprint, so they gave some medicine, completely unaware of the criminal implications.

Second Uncle kept shouting, saying the drugs wouldn’t kill, so why arrest him, he wanted to collect the money, if delayed further, the bank would close...

Such ignorant thoughts were difficult to convey, after several failed explanations, they didn’t bother reasoning any longer, directly detained him.

Yu Minglang’s long-awaited midnight movie date was thwarted again.

Qian had to accompany her mom. Given the family drama, Jia Xiufang was both angry and distressed, and Qian couldn’t just leave her behind with indifference.

After talking with Jia Xiufang until midnight, Qian went back to her little place and sent Yu Minglang a text.

Are you asleep?

In less than 20 seconds, he replied, Not asleep.

Yu Minglang had now returned to his father’s house. After handling the situation at Qian’s place, he went home to be with his parents. Coincidentally, Mr. Yu was at home, and he and his father were playing chess.

Mrs. Yu had already urged them to rest several times, but the father and son were engrossed in their chess battle, and directed her to make tea, caught in a fierce game.

Just as Yu Minglang was about to win against the old man, Qian’s text arrived.

Mr. Yu took advantage of Yu Minglang’s distraction with the phone, quickly placing the horse that Yu Minglang had just captured back on the board, and then sipping tea calmly.

Usually sharp-eyed, Yu Laomao didn’t notice his father’s sneaky move; he glanced at the message and smiled slightly.

”Keep it down, I can see your tongue.” Mr. Yu mocked Yu Minglang while capturing one of Yu Minglang’s pieces.

”Dad, I need to go now. I’m still a kid; sleeping late isn’t good for my health.”

After his phone buzzed with another text, Yu Minglang got up decisively.

Mei’s second text was very meaningful.

She only sent three words, I’m hungry.

Seeing his son wanting to leave just hours after he came home, Mr. Yu grabbed his wrist.

”Yu Laomao, can’t you have some decency? Finish the game before leaving!”

Yu Minglang glanced at the board, the old man was so shameless, stealing pieces and undoing moves, but even so, he could defeat his father in ten more minutes.

However, that wouldn’t do, ten minutes were too long. Yu Minglang didn’t want to waste a single minute.

Seeing the old man’s persistent demeanor... Yu Minglang’s eyes rolled, suddenly, he swiftly turned over the chess board!

The pieces scattered all over Mr. Yu’s study’s recliner bed where the father and son sat to play chess.

”Yu Minglang! You bastard!” Mr. Yu was furious, blowing his beard.

Yu Minglang feigned innocence.

”Dad, my hand slipped, can’t play anymore. I’ll come back another day to enjoy the senior fun with you.”
