Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”Is this okay now?” Avery Jane leaned forward playfully and gave Joshua Hughes a quick peck on the cheek, barely qualifying as a kiss, as her lips parted from his cheek almost instantly.

Joshua Hughes flicked his fingers lightly, and the remaining large portion of his cigarette traced a nice parabola in the air before falling to the ground.......

”Half-hearted...” Joshua’s magnetic voice resounded in the air.

The bodyguards tactfully turned their heads away, relying solely on their keen ears and sense of smell to gauge the situation around them.

”Avery, Avery...” It seemed calling her name was the only way to forget those nauseating memories.

”What should we eat tonight?” Joshua looked at her rosy cheeks, the way she was breathing heavily, so adorable, it made him almost want to kiss her again.

”I’ll treat tonight, I got paid, but I’ll choose the place. The places you choose are hardly meant for humans, they’re outrageously expensive.” Avery Jane remembered every time he took her to dinner, it was always somewhere insanely expensive, she imagined she’d have to stay there washing dishes.

”You’re treating?” Joshua looked at her enthusiastic expression, not wanting to dampen her spirits, he let her take the lead.

But when they arrived, he started to feel the headache coming on, a bustling night market, a place saturated with the smoke and fireworks scent.

She actually took him to a night market food street. They seemed quite out of place here, unknowing onlookers might think they were filming an idol drama, a long-legged, aristocratic uncle with a gentle, sexy, sweet Cinderella, what a perfect pair. Yet when looking around, there were no cameras, followed closely by two silent, burly men in black suits.

”Sour and spicy noodles, grilled chicken wings, grilled mushrooms, and boss, one more serving of grilled potato...” Avery Jane ordered a bunch in one go, all her favorites. She had once been here with Emma White and it was incredibly tasty. Of course, the restaurants Joshua went to always had very classy dishes with excellent taste. But she kept craving the aroma of these foods, and she could hardly resist when smelling the wafting fragrances.

The barbeque stall owner was working up a sweat, zealously shaking cumin, chili, and all sorts of flavor-boosting seasonings onto the skewers: ”Miss, take a seat, I’ll give you an extra tofu skewer.”

The owner didn’t even lift his head, he called every girl ”Miss,” but when he did look up, he was taken aback.

She is extremely beautiful, leagues more stunning than the ’flower of the night market’ here!

”Does Miss have a boyfriend? Consider me, I’m an outstanding young man. If you want to be the boss lady, leave a number, in the future, the barbeque, and maybe the whole stall, are free for you.” The barbeque brother busily flipping skewers greeted Avery Jane. Avery laughed and said, ”I’m already married.”

She glanced at Joshua Hughes behind her, looking a bit gloomy, and tugged his sleeve: ”He’s joking, last time he said the same to Emma.” All the while leading him to find a seat.

”How did I end up liking you, you have no sense of humor.” Avery Jane settled into a chair, looking at Joshua Hughes, who really wasn’t suited to dining here, as his polished shoes touched the oily floor, guessing he might want to throw away his shoes: ”Feeling regret?”

Joshua pinched Avery’s cheek, teasingly threatening: ”No, you’re so impressive, why would I regret?” The dangerous air around the man made Avery quickly placate him with a smile. Joshua whispered lowly in her ear: ”How am I impressive?” The intimate words left Avery a bit speechless.

”You’re impressive in every way, is that good enough?” Avery said randomly, as the barbeque brother brought their skewers, Avery nudged the man almost sticking to her side: ”Hurry up and eat, these are really good.” Saying that, she already grabbed a chicken wing skewer and started munching. Joshua watched her eat with gusto, unsure if she liked the skewers here or the thick layer of various seasonings on them.

She shouted that it’s spicy but refused to stop eating. Joshua watched her, thinking this was more her treat than his. After they finished eating and got in the car, the street was crowded, the bodyguards’ cars followed closely, the vehicle moved slowly.
