Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”You dare to wear this kind of swimsuit out?” The conservative swimsuit was simple black with a peach-colored border, without any flashy elements. Emma White almost wanted to look down on Avery Jane.

”Are you pitying me or something? Trying not to steal my thunder?” These days, those without figures want to make something fake to show, while those with figures hide them for fear of letting others’ eyes indulge like eating ice cream. It’s truly strange.

”No, it’s just that I’m not used to it. That seems way too revealing.” Avery Jane thought about the scanty fabric that could be crumpled into a small ball in her palm, how could she wear it?

The bodyguards in black always kept a distance of about three meters away from them, not getting too close so as not to affect their mood while shopping, yet not straying too far, ensuring they could rush in at the first sign of danger.

In the small room downstairs, the surveillance screens were switching, capturing every move of the two girls, seen through a pair of eyes that had become unfamiliar long ago.

Avery Jane suddenly remembered the marks on her body, traces from the night of passion left on her skin. She reckoned she couldn’t wear a swimsuit today. Joshua Hughes had messed up the schedule she and Emma White had planned earlier; otherwise, they should be heading to the heated pool for a swim.

”Emma White, let’s not go swimming, okay? Didn’t you say you wanted to watch a movie?” Watching a movie to pass the time was also a good idea.

”What’s the matter with you, Avery Jane? Didn’t we agree to go swimming?” Emma White looked suspiciously at Avery Jane. Her awkward demeanor aroused more suspicion, her glance inadvertently sweeping over Avery Jane’s face. On the skin around her ears and neck were suspicious purple-red marks. With a speed that seemed faster than a thunderbolt, she pulled Avery Jane’s collar for a quick look, and her mind suddenly felt like it exploded.

Though it was just a glance, Avery Jane was already blushing, clutching her collar, adjusting her purple long scarf: ”Emma White, stop it.” What was wrong with Emma’s mind being so vast?

Her figure was truly damn good, Emma White almost cursed. The perfect shape would make all women envious, covered with kiss marks of varying depths, his boyfriend was clearly very obsessed with her. Those marks were a testament to a man’s most ardent impulse and emotion.

”Was last night crazy?” Emma White asked maliciously.

”No.” Avery Jane nearly wanted to flee; such topics terrified her the most.

Suddenly, there was a man in front, wearing a white shirt and black trousers, turning slightly to show the black-rimmed glasses he wore, his slender lean hand holding a phone. The scene felt so familiar, and the man seemed familiar too, as though she had seen him somewhere before...

It seemed like it was long ago, perhaps even in a past life. The scene shifted like a slow-motion movie, as though it was at a seashore, but it was a scorching summer, not like the current coolness. The wind blew through the coconut trees along the seashore, rustling softly, everything blurry, the shore misted with heat. Gradually, a figure appeared, standing far away, smiling at her. The same stark white shirt, black trousers, his colors were so black and white distinct, yet his face was indistinct, blurry, as though wearing such black-rimmed glasses...

She turned her head to continue chasing the waves, but when she turned back to look at the smiling man standing there, he had gradually faded away like dew evaporated by the sun. Then under the strong sunlight, an elegant robust figure slowly approached, closer and closer, bearing an irresistible aura. The imposing silhouette basked in dazzling light, each step steady and determined, the strikingly resolute and handsome face suddenly engraved in her eyes, like the master of heaven and earth appearing in her vision. Joshua Hughes, it was him, with a faint scent of musk, enticingly approaching her...

”Avery Jane, what’s wrong with you?” Emma White cautiously asked, watching Avery Jane stand there dazedly, like a beautiful statue lost in thought. The bodyguards in black immediately reported such unusual actions, a deep irresistible command from the earpiece of a man said, ”Bring her up immediately.”

Bursts of palpitations made Avery Jane unbearably uncomfortable, so she decided not to see the movie, bidding farewell to Emma White, her mind adrift as she headed towards the top floor, like a wandering soul.

Joshua Hughes stood on the deck, watching Avery Jane slowly approaching, her complexion not looking good, lacking her enchanting allure of earlier today’s rain-soaked floral beauty: ”What’s happening, why are you unhappy?”

His tone was gentle, without any extra emotions, extending his hand to embrace Avery Jane’s shoulder: ”Seems like the weather is changing, shall we go inside? I’ll make you a cup of hot tea, alright?” Seeing the complex emotions flash through Avery Jane’s eyes, he lovingly stroked her hair: ”Are you having a delayed adolescence? Where are these sentiments coming from?” Joshua’s low voice held evident affection.

Avery Jane was startled, not expecting him to say that, feeling slightly embarrassed. He really was patient with her, yet she was like this.

”No, I’ve just been thinking about my past, but I can’t recall anything.” She lowered her head in disappointment; a person without a past is like a tree without roots. This feeling was truly unbearable; others wouldn’t understand, even Joshua Hughes, the closest person to her now.

Joshua lifted her up and carried her inside the house, placing her on the sofa as a touch of emotion swept through Avery Jane’s heart. If she never remembers, could she rely on his love to get through life?
