Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”Mr. Hughes, I’m really just trying to help you. That day, I met Madam Hughes at the temple. She was anxiously praying for a peace talisman for you. Later, we talked a bit, and she asked me to predict a fortune for you. Madam Hughes found it very accurate, so she wanted me to do these things. She provided the money, and after it’s done, she promised to reward me with double the payment. Mr. Hughes, I really meant well.” Taoist Johnson said, trembling, unable to manage the intense pain in his eyes.

”You really aren’t a wise person. You have eyes but don’t use them.” To keep secrets is truly reckless; things aren’t so simple.

Joshua Hughes shook his head, stepped forward...

At this point, even as dumb as Taoist Johnson was, he realized things had gotten extremely serious. It seemed he had truly provoked Joshua Hughes. For someone like him, making people disappear from this world is as easy as squashing an ant.

”Mr. Hughes, I haven’t finished. I haven’t finished...” He shrank back a bit, extending his hand to stop Joshua Hughes from approaching. His gaze was as frightening as the bloody knife in his hand.

”It’s like this, Mr. Hughes. I know the Second Madam of the Yates Family. She said her daughter is already pregnant with your child, but you’ve been enchanted by another woman. That eyeless spirit she claimed to have seen too. She said as long as this was told to Mrs. Hughes, she would listen to me and give me a lot of money. I deliberately met Madam Hughes, telling her that a blind ghost was attached to the woman beside you, demanding your life. Madam Hughes almost fainted upon hearing this. Afterward, she believed everything I said, but we couldn’t approach you, so we followed you on your trip, hoping to find an opportunity to perform a ritual and get rid of that woman. I’ve told you everything I know, Mr. Hughes. I was just following Mrs. Yates’s instructions; I didn’t expect Madam Hughes to insist on that woman’s death. Those candies and the snake she prepared were not my doing...”

Taoist Johnson was trying desperately to clear himself. If he knew it was this hard to earn the money, he wouldn’t have tried. It seems he’s destined to get the money but not use it.

”You say it’s not related to you, and it isn’t?” Joshua Hughes laughed coldly, his voice devoid of emotion.

”Mr. Hughes, I was just, I was just...” Watching Joshua Hughes step closer, Taoist Johnson’s eyes widened in fear and despair: ”Mr. Hughes, spare me, please. I’ll leave here; I’ll disappear forever, alright? I’ll return all the money to you. I don’t want it...”

Joshua Hughes seemed too lazy to deal with him, just turned around and said, ”The northern mine is still short on people. Since his eyes are blind, he won’t need to see good scenery anyway. Let him spend his life mining there, with all his money.”

Alexander King smirked; this man’s way of dealing with others is indeed superior, making someone take millions underground as a laborer and never letting them out; it’s worse than death.

Dropping the knife, the bodyguard handed over a white damp towel. Joshua Hughes wiped the small smear of blood on his fingers: ”Let’s go.”

Years of brotherhood ensured he knew what he meant, nodded without caring for Taoist Johnson inside crying out in pain...

Their favorite breakfast is hidden in a small alley in the city: smooth and tender rice rolls, soft and sticky boat congee, seafood porridge, crispy fried dough sticks. The bloody scene moments before didn’t affect their appetite: ”Another bowl.”

Apparently, the porridge here suits Joshua Hughes’s taste.

”Good appetite?” Alexander King looked at Joshua Hughes, sweating and unbuttoning his shirt, revealing his sexy and rough collarbone with a clear, seemingly captivating bite mark.

”Of course, unlike you, lonely through the night.” Having resolved some matters, Joshua Hughes felt relieved, having exerted physical energy yesterday; now, naturally, his appetite was good.

A bowl of hot congee settled in his stomach, leading him to tease Alexander King a bit.

”I caught this Taoist Johnson for you; do you know how hard it was? Talking about roaming the world every day, the effort I put in, and you dare to make fun of me?” Alexander King, with a dark face, took a bite of the fried dough stick as if venting anger.
