Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

Joshua Hughes drank his wine and glanced at the woman leaning against him. Beautiful like a flower, why couldn’t he let go of that stubborn and hard-headed woman? Damn it....

Joshua closed his eyes, trying to convince himself that it wasn’t her he couldn’t live without, that not having her wouldn’t mean he would die.

Yet, no matter how passionate the beautiful girl was, he remained the same, coldly drinking his wine.

”Let go, get out...” The calm male voice carried no trace of excitement.

The beautiful girl froze—is her effort not enough, or is she not doing well enough?

Ever since he met Avery Jane, he felt that if it wasn’t her, he didn’t want anyone else; he had no interest and found everything repulsive.....

”Get out.....” Seeing the blonde girl crawling on the ground wanting to approach, Joshua coldly rebuked her. Not only his voice but also his eyes were chilling, as if soaked in icy water; fierce and brutal light shot out from his piercing eyes, like a beast lurking within him, bloodthirsty and cruel.

His long leg kicked, and the girl’s soft, tender, flower-like body was sent flying several meters away, her head hitting the sofa opposite, looking miserable and pitiful. The blonde girl was scared stiff by this sudden change; she thought he was a deity, but he wasn’t—he was a devil, terrifying and horrific like a devil from the depths of the inferno....

The window was open, a cold wind blew in, and he suddenly woke up—what was he doing?

Leaving her alone at home, what she received in the past two days was already too much for her to completely digest, yet he still said such cruel words to provoke her. Damn it, he didn’t do it on purpose, he just didn’t know how to explain.

Joshua finally understood—no matter who you are, there will always come a time where you’re helpless. He couldn’t explain the past between him and Avery Jane; he was too cruel to her, which made it impossible to even speak of it.

The car drove quickly, running through countless red lights, like a fast-paced movie, speeding all the way home.

The lights were off, the whole house was dark—did she go out?

Impossible, any time she went out, her bodyguards would immediately report to him. Turning on the living room lights, the warm orange glow spilled out, illuminating every corner of the room. This time, she used to love curling up on the sofa watching TV, enjoying all kinds of boring shows wholeheartedly.

He pushed open the bedroom door and could almost hear the soft sobbing in the darkness. He reached out to press the switch on the wall, the wall lamp lit up, and Joshua’s heart felt like it was being slashed by a knife. She didn’t move, still curled up at the spot where he left her. Her small head leaned against her knees, shoulders trembling gently. Her densely flowing hair spread out so much that it almost covered her entire petite body. Heartache rolled in like a tidal wave—how could he just leave her like this? She had no memory, no family or friends, only him, yet when she was so heartbroken, he cruelly abandoned her, like discarding a little pet that couldn’t fend for itself.

”Avery, Avery......” He tried to calm himself, to make his voice sound not so shaky and strange.

”Avery, don’t be afraid, it’s me.” His voice was firm and full of strength. Slowly stepping forward, he embraced her......

His embrace was warm and safe, carrying the faint scent of alcohol and his unique musky aroma. Avery Jane, like a lost child who found home, lifted her head, stretched out her soft arms and wrapped them around his neck: ”I won’t ask anymore, I won’t ask anything ever again, please don’t leave me.....”

Her eyes were red, like a pitiful little rabbit. Her voice carried helplessness and sobs, fiercely impacting Joshua’s heart, causing it to throb and ache with a heartache-like pain.

”Avery, it’s my fault, it’s my fault, I’m sorry....,” Joshua tightly hugged her petite body. Her body was a bit cold and stiff, having curled up for too long, her limbs were already starting to numb. How could he treat her like this?

Joshua cursed himself ferociously in his heart, wanting to give her the best, yet he was the one who hurt her the most.

”You won’t leave me, will you?” Avery Jane trembled as she spoke. She had been so scared; she didn’t know exactly who she was. On one side was Joshua Hughes, on another were those people outside—Donna, Beckett Wright, and the woman who called today—but she knew she could only choose one side. Yet, when Joshua shut the door and left, she realized just how dependent and reluctant she was towards him. All the things he had done were for her, yet she continued to entangle him, even if he deceived her. Avery Jane believed it was a well-intentioned lie, so she wouldn’t guess anymore. Such mutual suspicion was too painful.....
