Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

Donna was frightened by Joshua Hughes’ demeanor, but she knew in her heart that he was only trying to scare her. Joshua Hughes had no reason to create enemies at this time, especially since Maitland was no ordinary person.

”I insist, otherwise I will notify Maitland immediately, and I will call the police right away.” Conquering a rebellious man is a long journey; Camilla took so many years to reach the prince’s side, so time will prove everything. They are truly meant for each other.

”As you wish, but are you sure you won’t be agitated?” Joshua Hughes turned and left. Since Avery Jane already knew of Donna’s existence, there was little point in hiding it further. It’s better for her to see, to extinguish her hopes.

The rooms on the top floor are numerous, all incredibly large luxury suites. Donna chose a room closest to Joshua Hughes, right next door, accompanied by two nurses.

She was still very weak. A nurse gently spoke to her while pushing her wheelchair along the deck, ”Miss Donna, you should wear more clothes; this is when your body’s resistance is weakest.”

”You are here to take care of me, not to manage me. Please know your place.” Donna coldly replied without even glancing at the nurse. These people were really annoying, meddling in her business.

In the dedicated kitchen on the top floor, the bodyguards had already checked all the food. At this time, five-star chefs were preparing dinner for the esteemed guests residing here.

The long dining table was covered with a white tablecloth that was heartbreakingly pristine, and silver cutlery was already set out. Donna waved her hand to have the nurse push her to take a look. Uniformed waiters set out two sets of cutlery, vivid red roses in the center of the table shone like rubies. Perhaps dinner together was a good idea.

A bottle of red wine was opened on top; is this a day to celebrate? Traditional holidays important to the U.S.A were just like ordinary days to her. There was no one on the top floor; she hadn’t seen anyone since coming up. Was tonight dinner for her and him alone? Donna secretly delighted in her heart.

New Year’s gifts were placed on the table—in a white brocade box was the most beautiful Kashmir Blue Sapphire necklace carefully crafted. The cornflower blue sapphire with velvet-like bluish-purple color was irresistibly captivating. Even a slightly small genuine Kashmir Blue Sapphire had already soared to over five million at auctions in recent years. Not to mention such a large pendant, considering mining of such sapphires ceased over a hundred years ago, they couldn’t be found on the market, only in the hands of a few collectors. Donna was seeing such a large Kashmir Blue Sapphire for the first time, eyes gleaming with greed, as any woman would be moved by such a necklace.

”Don’t touch it.” A cold voice rose behind her, as a pair of large hands removed the white brocade box from her grasp.

”Hughes, I like it.” Women are naturally defenseless against beautiful, mesmerizing gems, and Donna was no exception. Any jewelry she took a liking to, she’d always managed to have Maitland acquire for her. This necklace was alluring to the extreme, dazzling with captivating fire under such dim lighting.

”But I don’t like you.” His implication was clear—the necklace was for someone cherished.

This necklace was personally selected from among the priceless jewels in the Hughes Family’s vault because blue sapphires symbolize loyalty, constancy, love, and honesty. He couldn’t be honest with her. When they first met, he wasn’t loving at all, so using this breathtaking blue sapphire to convey his apology for what he couldn’t offer. Besides, only such a gemstone could compete with the beauty of the ocean along this stunning coastline.

The door to Joshua Hughes’ room opened from within as a woman in a white long nightgown, hair slightly disheveled, stood sleepily at the door.

The man looked at her, his eyes slowly filled with affection. His lips gradually curled into a seductive smile...

”I thought you’d sleep until dawn again, Avery.” His voice carried adoration as he walked over, holding her hand, lowering his head to kiss her still sleepy cheek. When he’d entered earlier, she’d been sleeping sweetly, in a gentle, daughter-like pose, so he hadn’t disturbed her, wishing to let her sleep a bit more. Unexpectedly, she awoke on her own, probably hungry.

When Avery Jane awoke, it seemed there was the call of an island outside the window. She sat up in bed, looking out the window, Joshua Hughes’ tall, sturdy figure was unmistakably a short distance away, its powerful, conflicted presence ensuring she wouldn’t get it wrong.

Upon exiting the room, she realized that it wasn’t only him outside but another woman, a beautiful mixed-race woman in a wheelchair, though still with a sickly look, her outstanding appearance and alluring figure were still undeniable.

Her gaze dimmed for a moment as Joshua Hughes led her to a seat at the dining table, pouring her a glass of warm water and handing it to her.

:”Avery, let me introduce you. This is the chief representative of Maitland Group and Mr. Adam Matt’s fiancée.” Joshua Hughes said casually, yet this identity still dropped a heavy stone into Avery Jane’s heart, instantly stirring her tranquil mind.

This was her first time seeing Donna so up close, Joshua Hughes’ first woman he’d thought of marrying. Truly very beautiful, otherwise, how could she make such an outstanding man so moved?

Just like Avery Jane, Donna was carefully observing her rival, the woman in front of her wore no makeup, refreshing like a **** girl, yet exuding the charm of being nurtured by a man’s tenderness. Is this the type Hughes likes?

:”Her room had an issue, so she had to move to the top floor.” Joshua Hughes watched Avery Jane sip the water from her cup slowly, his voice tender, yet his gaze towards Donna was as cold as frost, commanding her silently that she was merely a guest, not to speak too much.

Donna naturally didn’t touch this man’s reverse scale, since she’d been living upstairs these few days, there’d been plenty of chances to discuss with this little girl the man they had shared. Share experiences...

”Hello, Miss Avery Jane doesn’t mind, right?” Donna smiled, her lips looked a little pitiful without color.

”No.” Avery Jane responded softly. Was she supposed to be enthusiastic in front of her husband’s ex? She couldn’t do it, thinking of how they had once been so in love made her uncomfortable.

When the chef delivered the meticulously prepared dinner, Donna realized she had indeed been overly sentimental earlier. Joshua Hughes hadn’t planned to invite her to dinner at all.

:”Avery, see, I don’t have anything to do with her.” Joshua Hughes looked at Avery Jane’s little face, seemingly a bit unhappy, but couldn’t quite say why. Leaning close to her ear, he whispered, met with a forceful shove from Avery Jane. That bastard, he brought his ex-lover up here and dared to shamelessly say such things. Did he truly think she was a fool? Donna’s gaze hadn’t left him, seemingly about to strip his clothes off.

Joshua Hughes realized it was a mistake to let this dodgy woman stay upstairs. Now, the little woman beside him, curvaceous and soft, emanated a faint fragrance, stirring his desire.

:”Madam Maitland may return to her room.” Joshua Hughes gestured to the nurse to push the annoying woman inside.

:”Is this the Hughes Clan’s way of hospitality? Hughes, you wouldn’t even invite me to dinner?” Donna said hatefully. Ever since that woman appeared, Hughes’ eyes seemed glued to her, unable to shift even a bit.

:”These things aren’t suitable for you.” The table was full of delicacies—seafood feast and exquisite desserts. For a normal person, it would surely be a chance to feast, but for a patient who just underwent gastric lavage, it’s undoubtedly inappropriate.

The guards stepped forward, taking the wheelchair from the nurse, regardless of Donna’s objections, pushing her back into the room and closing the door.

The red velvet curtain gently fell, layers of gauze within, crystal lights inside the tent lit up, food on the table emitted an enticing aroma, Joshua Hughes poured her a glass of red wine.

”The timing is just right, Avery, have a drink.” The light cast her little face beautifully, his voice low and deep, resonating like ripples in her ear amidst the layers of curtains. Joshua Hughes couldn’t contain the stir within him, taking her sensitive earlobe in his mouth, feeling her body tremble slightly.

”Don’t mess around...there are people outside...” Her sweet voice emerged from her ruby lips, surrounded by the couple’s heated ambiance.

”It’s not me causing trouble, it’s my Avery being too beautiful. Every sight of you makes me lose control—it’s your fault. You must take responsibility...” His ambiguous words matched his actions. Avery Jane nearly choked on the succulent foie gras as he spoke.

He loved flirting with her sweetly like this, enjoying it immensely, completely disregarding Donna, maybe that woman meant less than air to him—without a shred of presence.
