Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”It’s not like this, Joshua, it’s not like this...” Evelyn murmured to herself, exposing this side of her completely to the man in front of her, leaving Evelyn feeling utterly ashamed.

The bodyguard in black had already escorted the stunned secretary out, and Evelyn wondered how he would deal with her.

Joshua reached out his hand and pinched Evelyn’s chin, turning her face to be directly opposite his. His voice was as calm as before, yet it sent shivers down one’s spine, more terrifying than when he was in a rage.

”Do you know why I haven’t seriously investigated you or brought down the Yates Family? I’ve been busy winning Avery Jane’s heart, busy ensuring her daily life is joyful and fulfilling. I don’t have time to think about your messy affairs. I’ve been busy keeping her endlessly pleased through the nights...” His words were gentle, yet his gaze was like icy blades—cold and sharp.

The force in his hand gradually increased, sending a feeling like her bones were being crushed up through Evelyn’s jaw, but none of the physical pain compared to the mental impact of Joshua’s words.

Tears streamed down Evelyn’s face; such words hurt more than death itself.

”I warned you not to touch Avery Jane, not to provoke me, did you disregard my words?” Joshua’s words carried cold severity and sternness, completely ignoring Evelyn’s hand clutching her aching stomach.

”I really won’t do it again, Joshua, please give me another chance. I’ll be good to Avery Jane, I’ll treat her well in the future...” Evelyn pleaded desperately, not knowing to what extent Joshua could tolerate her. But this time, it seemed he was truly angry.

Joshua laughed coldly, his grip suddenly tightened, and his tone was even colder and more merciless—

”Do you think you have another chance?” Joshua didn’t leave her any leeway.

”No, Joshua...” Evelyn’s eyes were filled with panic, mixed with a hint of despair: ”Joshua, please, considering how I’ve served you wholeheartedly before, forgive me this time...”

”In my eyes, you’re just a woman who came to me willingly, though you might be considered the most expensive escort.” Joshua looked at her disdainfully. He was most annoyed by these women who clearly wanted to take advantage of the Hughes Family yet dared to pretend with pleasantries; it was utterly ridiculous.

Evelyn’s tears flowed even more fiercely; it was at this moment that she realized how Joshua truly viewed her. She despised the Yates Family for dragging her into such a predicament, having waited months for everything to fall into place once her child was born. But why did it turn out like this?

She never thought Joshua would be so ruthless for Avery Jane.

Joshua seemed unwilling to watch her tear-stained face any longer: ”From this moment on, leave the Hughes Family, you’re no longer related to me.”

The most annoying are the women who overestimate themselves.

”Joshua, do you really want me to leave? You can’t, I’m carrying your child, the Hughes Family blood, can you bear to let the Hughes Family blood wander outside? According to the Hughes Family rules, this child has the right to inherit the family business, you can’t do this...” Evelyn’s face turned ashen, her sobs nearly choking her. Her now swollen body slipped off the sofa, knelt on the floor, crawled over, and hugged Joshua’s leg: ”I don’t want to leave, Joshua, no...”

”You have no choice.” Joshua, indifferent to her cries and pleas, stood up elegantly.

”Watch her, don’t let her take anything from the Hughes Family, not a single thing, understand?” Joshua coldly said to the housekeeper.

”Isn’t this child part of the Hughes Family, Joshua? Are you not allowing me to take him either? Why don’t you just cut open my stomach and keep the child here...” Evelyn’s hair was disheveled, her gaze full of indignation.

”This is indeed my Hughes Family, the child is indeed part of the Hughes Family, but have you ever thought, I am not the only one with the Hughes surname?” Joshua leaned down elegantly and coldly, looking at her tear-drenched face, having run out of patience to play along any further with her.

Originally, he intended to wait a month or two for the mystery to unfold and then give everyone a surprising revelation, to settle a score on behalf of his deceased father. Luis Hughes and his father had always been a source of great dissatisfaction for him.
