Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”Mr. Hughes, we heard you have chosen a fiancée this year. Is it this lady here? But we also heard your fiancée is about to give birth, so it shouldn’t be her. May I boldly ask, who exactly is the Young Madam of the Hughes Clan?” The reporter’s question exploded like a bomb in the cinema lobby.

The news became even more sensational — Joshua Hughes’ fiancée is about to give birth, yet here he is playing romantic games with a little lover. The life of a billionaire indeed.

”Which agency are you from?” Joshua Hughes looked coldly at the reporter, his eyes as sharp as blades pierced through the noisy atmosphere, abruptly silencing it.

A cold glint settled in his deep eyes, lips parted slightly, as he faced a sea of flashing cameras, radiating a chilling aura.

On such a beautiful and serene night, with the young girl so happy, these people had to ruin it.

When he saw those few photos, an unfounded worry took hold in Joshua Hughes’ heart, as if an old wound was torn open once more, stinging with fiery pain. His fears and anxieties were laid bare by these people, bleeding raw and hard to look at.

These people were crazy. His thin lips moved slowly, pronouncing each word with icy, murderous intent. His voice was slightly hoarse: ”I’m giving you only five minutes, and after five minutes, whoever dares to stay here can just wait and see how their life turns out.”

”Mr. Hughes, is this a threat? We have freedom of speech; we have the right to speak.”

”This is a cinema, why should we leave...”

Joshua Hughes raised his wrist, wearing an old-fashioned, grand mechanical watch. ”It is a threat, you heard correctly. Give me your name.”

Joshua Hughes sneered as he looked at the reporter, really daring to talk about rights with him without knowing his place.

”You have freedom of speech, but that doesn’t mean you can talk recklessly. You have rights, but those rights don’t allow you to disregard personal privacy and take photos at will. Whoever publishes this today, the Hughes Clan’s lawyers will sue until your press runs out of the last cent.” Finally, he coldly left a remark: ”Just wait and see.” His eyes were icy blue, and he didn’t look at the reporters again.

He was often praised and surrounded by people, but a scene like this was new to him.

The person in his arms was so quiet she seemed nonexistent, her long eyelashes concealing her thoughts, nearly drowning in the overwhelming questions just now.

However, these people dared not photograph Joshua Hughes, but recklessly turned their cameras towards Avery Jane, relentlessly zooming in, showing no mercy.

It was too crowded, the camera flashes made Avery Jane uncomfortable enough to cover her side face with her hand. A journalist with a camera was pushed by those behind him, and the heavy machine nearly crashed down. The burly and fierce bodyguards beside Joshua Hughes stopped the journalist, and Joshua extended his strong arm to grab the camera lens, pushing it back with force, violently throwing the journalist and the machine to the ground.

”You...how...” The young journalist fell painfully, the camera lens hitting the ground and breaking. Joshua Hughes stood there like a deity, coldly looking at him: ”I never repeat myself.” Such a tone, such words, such a look brought some sense back to these frenzied people.

It’s not worth risking their careers for a piece of news. A path opened up, watching the tall and straight man and the slender and graceful woman leave, get into a car, and drive away.

”Avery, don’t overthink this, none of this is related to you, understand?” Joshua Hughes held her slightly cold hand, worried as he saw her expressionless and silent face.

”It’s fine, I’m not as fragile as you think. I now understand why we have a hidden marriage; your charm is really immense, even watching a movie draws in so many people to gawk. Luckily, we finished the movie before they came, otherwise it would’ve been a waste.” Avery Jane blinked, smiling faintly.

Joshua Hughes felt a sense of relief; thankfully, she didn’t overthink it, thankfully...

”Since I chose to trust you, I won’t doubt you again, just don’t lie to me.” Avery Jane lightly played with the buttons on his suit, the black buttons with an equally black ’H’ insignia, quite elusive unless you looked closely.
