Dragon Monarch System

Chapter 790:- Helpless and Defeated

After receiving the letter, Misako turned around to leave.

She purposely slowly walked out of the room. She was hoping Eldric would call her back.

Unfortunately, that never happened; his attention was never on her back. Rather, his attention was on the letter the Crown Prince had sent him. When she was about to close the door, she saw the Prime Minister looking pale as he read the letter. His face was covered in a layer of sweat. His hands were shaking as if he was reading something terrifying. ʼWhat happened?ʼ This was what she was left wondering.

She knew that, given her position, her curiosity would not be answered. Since she couldnʼt get his attention, she silently left. Meanwhile, Eldric couldnʼt calm his heart.

After reading the first part of the letter, Eldricʼs heart was filled with fear. When he read the second part, that fear changed to anger. It was as if the letter that Garrick had written him was meant to manipulate his emotions. [Sir Eldric, letʼs have a good chat. If you can give me something valuable in return, then I will consider letting your family live. Otherwise, I wouldnʼt mind severing their heads with my own sword.] [Also, if you tell anybody about this matter, although my fate will be sealed, I will also take your family with me. You can try me if you donʼt believe in my words.] After reading the last part, Eldric felt he could hear Garrick telling him these words. He was one of the few people who had been watching Garrickʼs growth. He knew that once the Crown Prince set his mind on something, it was impossible to change his mindset. When he desires a goal, he becomes extremely stubborn. He probably becomes the most stubborn man in the entire Empire. ʼI should calm down.ʼ He knew that in this situation, it was very important for him to be calm and collected. Getting angry would mean that he would make a rushed decision. ʼWhen he is stubborn, Garrick is a madman. Even if I involve His Majesty in this, he will still kill my family before I can rescue them.ʼ There was another thing that Eldric realized. ʼI donʼt think His Majesty would kill this son just to avenge the death of my family.ʼ Eldric wasnʼt naive to believe that he would get justice. Yes, Eldric and Charles were friends even before the beginning of the Dune Sovereignty. Yes, both of them have known each other since the last era. Their relationship is 15000+ years long. Yes, when it came to handling administrative, political, and economic matters, the Emperor trusted and valued Eldricʼs opinion more than Garrickʼs. But all that did not mean that Charles would pick Eldric over Garrick. After all, Blood was thicker than water. Charles would never kill his one and only son, whom he has been grooming to be the next Emperor for over 500 years now. ʼAt most, Garrick would be put to prison for a few hundred years.ʼ But that wasnʼt enough. Eldric wanted Garrick to die if he were to kill his entire family. ʼBastard!! If you were to touch my family, then I am personally coming after your life.ʼ Eldric tightly clenched his fists and thought. ʼI would stop at nothing to kill you. This is my promise.ʼ After a while, Eldric opened his palms. His nails had drawn out some drops of blood, but his mind was too occupied with thoughts of his family to care about the little pain. Eldric sighed out loud. Sigh....!!

With shaky hands, Eldric picked up the letter again. On the back of the letter, there is an address.

••••

”Will he come?” Emma asked while staring at the people that Garrick had kidnapped. Eldric did not have any family. So, everyone that was kidnapped belonged to his wifeʼs side. ”He will!! He cares more about this family than this Empire.” Garrick was polishing his sword. There were about 19 family members, including the grandparents. Everyone looked terrified of Garrick. Garrick paused for a second and looked at Eldricʼs wife. ”Donʼt worry, I wonʼt do any harm if your men agree to be loyal to me.” Although Garrick never liked the Prime Minister, he had to admit he was the best prime minister the Empire could ever have. Replacing Eldric would be too much work. Even if he managed to find another talented individual to take over, it would probably take a long time for the new Prime Minister to adapt and adjust. Not to mention, it would be a huge loss if a Prime Minister with over 15000+ years of experience just died. ʼI wish there was some way of extracting the experience of a person along with all of his knowledge.ʼ Garrick felt amused at his childish thoughts. If there was such a way, then Garrick would have enriched his mind with knowledge from all fields. After all, knowledge was priceless. Emma was standing behind Garrick. ʼIf everything goes according to plan, then Eldric should be here soon.ʼ Compared to Garrick, Emma wasnʼt that calm. After all, if one thing went wrong, then it would be the end of her. They were currently in a remote mansion. The Mansion was far from the Capitals.

Thanks to Emmaʼs ability to charm people, the people who were tasked to keep an eye on Garrick were able to kidnap Eldricʼs entire family and bring them far from the Capital. Emmaʼs ability to charm people, especially men, wasnʼt as strong as Lilithʼs or Sashaʼs. Being Succubus Empress, their ability to charm people was on a completely different level. Knock!! Knock!!!

”Is he here?” Garrick asked without lifting his head. Emma nodded her head. ”Yeah!!” ”Then let him in.” Garrick put the sword on his lap and raised his head. A Peak 5th-order cultivator walked in. Eldric was following the Peak 5th-order cultivator. Everyone related to Garrick was supporting him in this cause. Even his Peak 5th-order bodyguards were helping him. These people were more loyal to Garrick than Charles. It was Charles who ordered them to be more loyal to Garrick at the beginning when Garrick was very young. But who would have thought that one day, Garrick would use these people to fight against Charles? Eldricʼs wife looked slightly relieved to see Eldric here. But that quickly changed. ”Sir Eldric, itʼs an honor to meet you again.” Garrick arrogantly looked at Eldric. He felt very relieved to see that face of distress. Prime Minister always appeared to be calm, reserved, and very confident no matter what situation he was in.

But right now, he looked very helpless. ”Garrick, do you have any idea what youʼre doing?” Eldric tried to see if he could change Garrickʼs mind and end things peacefully. ʼAs for revenge, I will get plenty of opportunities to get my revenge on you.ʼ

”I know what I am doing,” Garrick responded in a calm tone. ”Garrick, do you realize youʼre ruining your future with your own hands,” Eldric asked. He hoped that this statement would change Garrickʼs mind as he knew Garrickʼs deep desire to impress his father and be the Next Emperor. ”If you quit whatever youʼre planning, then I promise I will pursue His Majesty to let you become the Next Emperor as soon as possible.” Eldric tried to appear as sincere as possible. But Garrick wasnʼt a two-year-old child who would believe in his lies. Not even Eldric had the opportunity to do this. And Garrick knew that.

”First of all, you should be addressing me as Your Royal Highness.” Eldric expression turned ugly upon hearing this. Seeing Garrick silently looking at him, Eldric knew that he had to correct himself and apologize. But he was extremely unwilling to apologize to the person who kidnapped his entire family and brought him here. ”My apologies, Your Royal Highness.” Eldric has never felt more humiliated in his life.

”Your apology is lacking sincerity. Do it again!!” Garrick responded in a bored tone. This time, Eldricʼs frustration became even more apparent. He tightly clenched his fists. His hands trembled in anger. ”Your Royal Highness, please forgive this lowly person for not appropriately addressing you.” Garrick smiled, staring at Eldric. He loved the expression on Eldricʼs face. Just this expression was worth this whole thing. ”Kneel!!” Garrick uttered in a soft tone. ”I beg your pardon!!” Eldric felt that he had misheard. ”I said, Kneel before your future King!!”

Hearing this sentence, Eldric could not hide his anger anymore. His eyes turned angry. He was the Prime Minister. The only time that he kneeled was during an official ceremony, which happened once every 20 years or even more. Eldric hated kneeling. He felt his whole face burn just with the thought of kneeling in front of Garrick. ”Garrick, donʼt go too far!!” Eldric roared. Seeing this, everyone was surprised, including his own family. Eldric always has been very calm but this time first time they had seen Eldric looking this angry. ”It seems you donʼt understand your situation.” Garrick made eye contact with one of his Peak 5th-order bodyguards. ”Do it!!” Eldric remained stunned as he witnessed one of his family membersʼs head being severed with a dagger. The whole thing took place within a few seconds. ----------------
