Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 7, Mountain Stone Plains

Translator: Silavin

At 4 AM, Han Ke groggily got up. Although each day was tiring, Han Ke did not complain for Lu Fan’s sake.

Han Ke originally wanted to go to the bathroom to quietly freshen up, but she soon found that the door to Lu Fan’s room was open. His bed was folded neatly and cleanly too.

She was naturally stunned, not expecting Lu Fan to be up so early.

“Fan’er, are you up already?” Han Ke called out, but got no response.

Soon, Han Ke found a letter left by Lu Fan on the living room coffee table. Opening it, the familiar handwriting caught her eye.

‘Auntie, I’m going to the Mountain Stone Plains for a few days. Wait for me at home. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. When I come back, I will definitely let you have a good life!’ Through his handwriting, Han Ke seemed to vaguely see Lu Fan’s resolute face.

“This child… How can he go to Mountain Stone Plains alone…” Even though Lu Fan told Han Ke not to worry, Han Ke’s heart still tightened after seeing this letter.

In her view, Lu Fan probably wanted to go to the Mountain Stone Plains to level up before he took the major exam. He was striving to get into a University to qualify for entrance to Dungeon Instances.

This made Han Ke feel guilty. [If only I had managed to become a Combat Specialised Profession back then. Why must all the pressure be placed on your shoulders instead…]

…

Dawn, when the sky was dark, with only a hint of light emerging in the east.

Lu Fan sat in a coach bus, resting with his eyes closed.

On the coach bus, besides the driver, there were a dozen or so people who seemed to be above Level 10. They all already had a Profession Change. They were most likely going to the wilderness to level up or collect materials to sell.

This was the purpose of such coach buses, to take people to the wilderness.

Of course, with Monsters rampant in the wilderness, these coach buses would not go very far. They would go about fifty kilometres from Jianghai City, with a terminal at the end.

Still, they at least save some walking time for those who went out of the city to hunt Monsters.

Finally, the coach bus stopped at the terminal. There was a simple stronghold here, guarded by a few Level 10+ Combat Specialised guards to protect the safety of this terminal.

This was also the frontline outpost to the wilderness. Walking further into the depths of the Mountain Stone Plains, there would be no more guards stationed.

Once encountering Actively Hostile Monsters, one could only choose to fight to possibly survive.

Lu Fan got off the coach bus with the others. The group basically had no interaction and dispersed on their own after getting off, heading into the depths of the Mountain Stone Plains.

Just now on the coach bus, a team of Monster Material Hunters wanted to recruit Lu Fan to join them, but Lu Fan refused.

Firstly, Monster Material Hunters were a mixed bag. Most of them were experts who had been through a lot in the wilderness. Killing and robbing came easily to them. Lu Fan didn’t want to risk associating with such people.

Even though it was very dangerous for Lu Fan to walk alone in the depths of the Mountain Stone Plains, with powerful Monsters around, it wasn’t more dangerous than being with them.

Moreover, Lu Fan was going to claim a Treasure Map, which might not be on the same route as the Monster Material Hunters.

After getting off at the terminal, Lu Fan carried his Beginner Machete on his back and advanced according to the coordinates marked on the Treasure Map.

He quickly entered the middle area of the Mountain Stone Plains.

At this time, the sun had risen and the scenery of the Mountain Stone Plains could be seen in full view.

It was very similar to a place called the Great Black Plains on Blue Star, where Lu Fan was previously.

The land was flat and open, with rugged rocks, and some areas had half-man-tall vegetation.

Some Level 7 Giant Horned Antelopes and Level 8 Horned Horses could be seen occasionally, walking in herds.

These Monsters were not actively aggressive. As long as Lu Fan did not provoke them, they would not cause trouble.

However, Lu Fan soon encountered the first obstacle in the Mountain Stone Plains – a Bloodthirsty Gray Fox.

This was a Monster that was at the top of the food chain. Seeing a Human like Lu Fan, it naturally had the intention to actively attack.

Lu Fan directly used Appraisal Eye on its head and its Attributes were immediately visible.

Bloodthirsty Gray Fox: Actively Hostile Monster
Level: 10

Strength: 15

Agility: 31

Mana: 10

Endurance: 14

Skills: Bloodthirst (Attacking the enemy can restore 10% of its own Health Points), Bloodthirsty Combo (Can quickly attack the enemy twice)

A Level 10 Monster, on par with Lu Fan’s level. Judging from its Attributes, it should be an Agility Type Monster, since its Strength and Endurance were average.

Just based on Attributes alone, Lu Fan still had a slight advantage.

All four of Lu Fan’s Attributes were above 20 points. In a straight fight, he definitely wouldn’t lose to this Bloodthirsty Gray Fox.

However, this was mainly because Lu Fan was a top student in Jianghai Third Academy, so his Attributes were very high.

Generally, Level 10 students had four Attributes around 10 points each. Once one encountered this Bloodthirsty Gray Fox in the wilderness, they would definitely have no chance of survival.

Right now, this Bloodthirsty Gray Fox was already following behind Lu Fan and could attack at any time. Lu Fan naturally would not sit still and wait for death. He drew out the Beginner Machete from his back, intending to directly solve the issue.

One Bloodthirsty Gray Fox was fine. If he encountered other Actively Hostile Monsters and got surrounded by them, Lu Fan was afraid he would die in the wilderness before reaching the location marked on the Treasure Map.
