Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 6, Divine Grade Treasure Map, Hope for a Turnaround!

Han Ke patted Lu Fan’s head and gently smiled, “It doesn’t matter if it’s useless, at worst, we won’t think about Levelling Up in the future. Once you graduate from High School and get into University, I will continue to support you. If no University wants you, that’s okay. You can always run this bun shop with me. With my cooking skills, the two of us may not be rich and noble, but we at least won’t go hungry, right?”

Lu Fan nodded, grabbed Han Ke’s hand, and then forced a smile, “Auntie, you don’t need to comfort me, I already know this. Although the strong are the ones respected in this world, as long as we can survive, it is still not the worst outcome. I will work hard in the major exam. As long as I can get into a University, I will have the qualification to enter Dungeon Instances and earn money from it. If no University wants me, I will come back and run the shop with you.”

“En!” Han Ke smiled, withdrew her hand and said, “It’s good that you are not depressed. Actually, I think it’s enough for you to always stay by my side. I think the most important thing in this world is for you to be safe and sound.”

“Okay. That’s enough. Let’s quickly eat, or the food will get cold.”

“En.” Lu Fan could feel his heart fill with warmth as he nodded.

…

After finishing the meal, Lu Fan returned to his bed and lay there, his mind filled with countless thoughts.

When he grabbed Han Ke’s hand just now, he clearly felt that his Aunt’s smooth hands had become a bit rough.

Although his Aunt had always been pretty, working for so long still left traces on her.

His Aunt was only 26 years old. She was at her prime. How could he allow her to continue living in poverty like this, never seeing the light of day?

Lu Fan could not accept this. He would not accept this. He wanted a good life, and at the same time, he wanted his Aunt, who had been taking care of him, to lead a good life too.

However, his Profession…

At this moment, a mechanical voice sounded again:

Lu Fan immediately sat up from the bed. [That’s right! I still have this System!]

After the System popped up and revealed its existence, it had basically disappeared. Lu Fan had almost forgotten about its existence.

Currently, Lu Fan was puzzled. [Didn’t it say it would give me a Treasure Map? Why is there no change?]

Lu Fan soon realised the time the Treasure Maps were issued each day was fixed and today’s Treasure Map had, for some reason, arrived later than usual! [Regardless, with the System, I might still have a chance to turn things around!]

Lu Fan’s heart started pounding. He was overwhelmed by this sudden fortune. He was unable to accept it for a moment.

Originally, when he saw that the first Treasure Map was Mid Grade, he was a little disappointed. However, things had turned out for the better. The System actually directly upgraded the Mid Grade Treasure Map to a Divine Grade!

[This System is amazing!]

Of course, it was still too early to be happy now. If the coordinates of this Treasure Map were too far, somewhere Lu Fan couldn’t possibly go, it would still be all for nothing.

Moreover, the Divine Grade Treasure Map was the Highest Grade Treasure Map and couldn’t be synthesised. In other words, if he could not claim it, then this Treasure Map would have to be discarded.

Lu Fan opened the System Sub-Space and began to check the Divine Grade Treasure Map.

Treasure Map (Divine Grade): Coordinates – Mountain Stone Plains (341681,674331)
When viewing the coordinates, Lu Fan could also see a general map to understand the specific location indicated by the Treasure Map.

Upon seeing the four words ‘Mountain Stone Plains’, Lu Fan was overjoyed.

The Mountain Stone Plains was not unfamiliar to him. It was out in the wilderness, fifty kilometres outside of Jianghai City.

It was considered a Beginner Area. Not only was it not far from Jianghai City, but there were also not that many powerful Monsters there.

Previously, when Lu Fan and the other students followed the school’s teachers out to train, they went to the Mountain Stone Plains to hunt some weak Monsters.

Looking at the coordinates marked on the Treasure Map, Lu Fan knew that this place should be in the middle of the Mountain Stone Plains. It was much deeper than where the teacher had led them.

Most Monsters there were above Level 10, which was already quite dangerous for Lu Fan.

However, this Divine Grade Treasure Map might be Lu Fan’s last hope to turn things around. If he gave up now, then he would have to live at the bottom of society for the rest of his life!

Lu Fan did not hesitate at all. [I might get there and claim this Treasure Map!]

…

Late at night, when it was extremely quiet, when Han Ke had already gone to bed because she had to get up at 4 AM to prepare the buns, Lu Fan crawled out of bed stealthily. He took out a Beginner Machete hidden under his bed. He soon went to the kitchen to pack a bag of buns, before finally leaving home and heading straight for the city gate.
