Invincible Little School Doctor

Chapter 425: Chapter 424: Foiled

”It’s better already?” Old Master Xiang still couldn’t quite believe it.

But at that moment, the old man’s wife suddenly exclaimed, ”Old man, your legs, you can move your legs, they really are working!”

”What?”

Old Master Xiang immediately tried to move his legs and, sure enough, they indeed had sensation and he could move them.

”Incredible, it’s truly incredible! I never imagined that I, this old coot, would be able to move my legs again...” Old Master Xiang was overwhelmed with excitement, tears streaming down, and he eventually burst into laughter.

Old Master Xiang’s wife, thrilled, stepped forward and grasped Ye Haochuan’s hand, saying, ”Doctor Ye, thank you, thank you so much...”

”No need for that,” Ye Haochuan replied with a slight smile, ”First, let’s calm down, while I carefully lay Old Master Xiang down.”

Realizing her overzealousness, Old Master Xiang’s wife hurriedly said, ”Look at how overjoyed I am. Okay then, I won’t disturb you anymore, Doctor Ye.”

After she stepped back, Ye Haochuan then slowly retracted his True Qi and laid Old Master Xiang down.

With his wife’s help, Old Master Xiang got dressed and, still looking exhilarated, moved forward to shake Ye Haochuan’s hand, saying, ”Doctor Ye, you truly are divine. I have seen so many specialists, but none could do anything about my condition. I never expected that under your care, I would be healed. No wonder so many people call you Junior Godly Doctor Ye; you really live up to the name!”

”I don’t dare accept such praise, not at all...” Ye Haochuan repeatedly waved his hands in modest denial.

Unable to contain her excitement, Old Master Xiang’s wife hurried to open the door and share the good news with her sons and daughters-in-law.

”What? Mom, Dad’s illness has been cured?”

”This is too incredible. Doctor Ye is so young, yet his medical skills are extraordinary!”

”Right, right, his medical skills are indeed at a national level, incredible!”

While everyone was expressing their amazement, Tao Dongsheng and his daughter Tao Ying on the side watched with both shock and joy. Old Secretary Xiang’s illness had been a concern for many, and it had not been cured for a long time. They hadn’t expected it to be healed by such a young physician as Ye Haochuan!

Then, Old Master Xiang suddenly asked Ye Haochuan, ”Doctor Ye, how much should I pay for the consultation?”

”Since you were referred by Mayor Lin, I’ll waive the consultation fee,” Ye Haochuan said with a smile.

He had his strategy. Although Old Master Xiang was no longer carrying heavyweight duties in the province, his influence was not to be underestimated. If he could establish a good relationship with him, he would undoubtedly gain an additional protective umbrella.

While he wasn’t afraid of Haishan City’s local heavies like Secretary Tao and Commander Ma, these issues would still complicate Xiao Haimie’s plan to revitalize the Xiao Family. As someone on the Martial Arts Path, naturally, he couldn’t afford to waste too much time on these worldly affairs.

Having Old Master Xiang as a protective umbrella meant many things wouldn’t require his direct intervention, nor would he need to reveal his Ancient Martial Arts disciple identity, allowing him to resolve issues effortlessly—why not do it?

”How can we not pay a consultation fee?” said Old Master Xiang, and turning to his eldest son, he ordered, ”Xiang Tian, prepare a one million check!”

”One million?” Old Master Xiang’s family members were all shocked.

Although their Xiang family was involved in politics and legal business, one million was a trivial amount for them, but one million for a consultation fee seemed excessively high, didn’t it?

Seeing his son and daughters-in-law hesitate, Old Master Xiang huffed, ”What’s the matter? Can’t bear it? Haven’t you thought about how much money I’ve spent over the years treating this illness? If it weren’t for Junior Godly Doctor Ye’s intervention, I’m afraid it would cost even more in the future.”

Hearing this, Xiang Tian swiftly took out a check, swiftly filled in the amount, and handed it to Ye Haochuan, saying, ”Doctor Ye, please accept this.”

Ye Haochuan still refused to accept it.

Both parties were thus politely insistent, each more determined than the last, when suddenly the cry of a child broke the deadlock between them.

”Eh? Is this...”

Ye Haochuan looked at Old Master Xiang, who was about to introduce them, but at that moment, Tao Dongsheng approached quickly and with a smile plastered on his face, said, ”I’m friends with Old Master Xiang. I’ve heard about the miraculous medical skills of Junior Godly Doctor Ye, so I brought my little granddaughter over to see if she could be helped by the Junior Godly Doctor Ye’s divine abilities.”

What a joke, he’d specifically avoided bringing his son-in-law, Ma Tao, precisely to hide his identity, aiming to have Ye Haochuan treat his granddaughter. If Old Secretary Xiang revealed his identity, what treatment could there be?

Ye Haochuan frowned. According to his plan, he was supposed to spend the afternoon cultivating and performing alchemy. This disturbance was quite inconvenient, but since they had come to him, how could he refuse? So he nodded, ”Bring her over, let me take a look first.”

Tao Dongsheng immediately gestured to Tao Ying, who hurriedly carried her daughter Tongtong to Ye Haochuan.

Ye Haochuan took one glance and suddenly seemed surprised, ”Polio?”

”Exactly, exactly, Junior Godly Doctor Ye is truly incredible. Without even examining her, you’ve diagnosed the illness,” Tao Ying said with a smile.

Nodding, Ye Haochuan asked the Xiang family members to leave first. After all, the rented room was too small, and too many people talking could interfere with his treatment.

”Alright then, we won’t disturb Junior Godly Doctor Ye any longer. Let’s step out,” Old Master Xiang instructed, then said to Tao Dongsheng, ”Secretary Tao, we’ll be leaving first then.”

Upon hearing his identity being revealed, Tao Dongsheng’s face changed instantly, and just at that moment, Ye Haochuan also heard it and his expression darkened as he confronted Tao Dongsheng, ”Your last name is Tao? You’re the Secretary of the Haishan Municipal Committee?”

Tao Dongsheng was extremely embarrassed and equally frustrated. His well-thought-out plan of stealth seemed to be falling apart.

”This...” Tao Dongsheng didn’t know how to explain.

Seeing his attitude, Ye Haochuan was completely certain that this man before him was indeed the Secretary Tao who had obstructed him.

”I’m sorry, Secretary Tao, but I can’t treat your precious granddaughter’s illness,” Ye Haochuan said indifferently.

Hearing that he wouldn’t treat her, Tao Ying immediately became upset, her face cold as she said, ”Doctor Ye, what do you mean by this? We’ve come from so far, and this is how you treat us? As a physician, do you not have any medical ethics?”

As the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together, people are sorted into groups by kind. She and her husband, Ma Tao, were both hot-tempered, which was why they were together, so she spoke without any regard.

Ye Haochuan let out a cold snort, ”Heh, sorry, I’ve already had my Medical Practice License revoked by Secretary Tao. I’m no longer a physician. What medical ethics are you talking about? If you want your precious daughter to be treated, you should go to the hospital. What are you doing coming here?”

”You...” Tao Ying was taken aback for a moment, her husband’s grudge with Ye Haochuan was something she knew all too well, but she didn’t expect Ye Haochuan to be so articulate that she was left without a comeback.

Meanwhile, Old Master Xiang and his family could tell something was amiss, sensing a strong whiff of gunpowder between the two.

”Junior Godly Doctor Ye, could there be some misunderstanding between you and Secretary Tao?” Old Master Xiang asked.
