Invincible Little School Doctor

Chapter 419: Chapter 418: Situation is Bad

The office of the director of the Haishan City Health Bureau suddenly rang with the sound of the landline.

Chen Zhonghe, who was lying back in his chair comfortably sipping tea, reached out to pick up the phone. The voice on the other end immediately made him shudder and stand up.

It turned out that the caller was none other than his former immediate superior, now the director of the provincial health department, Ma Jiacheng.

”Director Ma, what can I do for you?” Chen Zhonghe asked with a smile plastered across his face.

”Chen Zhonghe, listen well. I heard that in Haishan, there is a ’Junior Godly Doctor’ Ye?” Director Ma said.

Upon hearing this, Chen Zhonghe was stunned for a moment. Since when did Haishan have a ’Junior Godly Doctor’ named Ye?

”Director Ma, may I ask who is this ’Junior Godly Doctor’ Ye you mentioned?” Chen Zhonghe asked cautiously.

”How do you not know about this? That ’Junior Godly Doctor Ye,’ Ye Haochuan that Haishan TV Station has been raving about these past few days!” Ma Jiacheng said somewhat displeased.

Ye Haochuan?

Upon hearing this name, Chen Zhonghe nearly jumped from fright and hurriedly said, ”Ah, you mean him, Director Ma? Yes, yes, we indeed have such a person in Haishan City. However, I am not sure what Director Ma you are...”

”Here’s the thing, I just received a red-headed document from the provincial government, stating that there is a senior leader in the province who, several years ago, was paralyzed by a rock during a quake relief effort. The leaders from the Central Government are very concerned and had organized consultations with experts and professors from across the nation, but they were unable to cure him. This time, I heard that there is a ’Junior Godly Doctor’ in Haishan City skilled in acupuncture, so he was recommended to take a look. Originally, last night, our provincial committee arranged for someone to contact him, but somehow, his phone was unreachable. However, the senior leader’s family couldn’t wait and rushed to your Haishan overnight...”

Upon hearing the general situation from Director Ma, Chen Zhonghe immediately realized that this senior leader was actually the former Xiang Qun, but he hadn’t expected that Xiang’s family would send him to Haishan overnight.

Now it was over, Xiang’s family specifically asked for Ye Haochuan by name—wasn’t this asking for his own life?

He thought about it: just as he had dealt with Ye Haochuan, the province specifically asked for Ye Haochuan. This feeling was just like digging a pit and jumping into it himself!

Of course, strictly speaking, this matter had nothing to do with him. He had merely followed Secretary Tao’s instructions to use administrative measures against Ye Haochuan. As long as he shifted the responsibility onto Secretary Tao, he could protect himself.

However, this was the world of bureaucracy, and having survived in it for years, how could he make such a rookie mistake?

Shifting the blame to the leader was not something a savvy bureaucrat would do. After all, a local official wields more immediate power, and while the provincial committee is big, it is only the nominal upper level. They would not intervene directly unless he made a major mistake.

But the case with Secretary Tao was different; he was his direct supervisor. Offending him could cost him his official cap in an instant.

Moreover, if he took responsibility for this matter, it might be seen as a demerit in the eyes of the provincial committee, but to Secretary Tao, it would be a merit!

With this in mind, Chen Zhonghe racked his brains and suddenly had an idea, saying, ”Director Ma, that Ye Haochuan, his medical skills are indeed proficient. However, as for his skills being divine, I am not so sure. As for Senior Secretary Xiang’s condition, he might not be able to cure it!”

It wasn’t that he was deliberately passing the buck, but he knew better than anyone about Senior Secretary Xiang’s condition. Considering that so many medical experts and professors nationwide had not been able to cure him, how could Ye Haochuan miraculously heal him?

”You don’t need to worry about that. Senior Secretary Xiang’s family is desperate for help, and how could we hinder them? Moreover, the Central Government has already approved this, so just make the arrangements as soon as possible,” Director Ma said.

Upon hearing this, Chen Zhonghe knew he couldn’t stop the matter from unfolding, and a cold sweat streamed down his back immediately.

It’s all over, it’s all over, now that even the Central Government has been alerted, what if Ye Haochuan, that kid, can’t keep his mouth shut and files a complaint? Wouldn’t I be completely finished? By then, even Secretary Tao wouldn’t be of any use! Worse, that old fox, Secretary Tao, might even make me the scapegoat!

Thinking this, he wished he could slap himself twice. How could I be so stupid, so stupid?

At that moment, Ma Jiacheng suddenly said, ”Oh, right, I heard that Junior Godly Doctor Ye isn’t even part of our public hospital system?”

”This...” Chen Zhonghe hesitated for a long while, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead before grimacing and saying, ”Director Ma, strictly speaking, Ye Haochuan is indeed not part of our public hospital system, he is from Haishan University Affiliated Hospital, and Haishan University is a private university, so...”

”Whether he’s public or private, he’s still part of our health system. You better arrange it quickly. If it delays Senior Secretary Xiang’s matter, it would be a really serious issue,” Ma Jiacheng instructed, then hung up the phone.

Listening to the beeping sound from his phone, Chen Zhonghe took a long time to come back to his senses, and hurriedly made a phone call to Secretary Tao of the city committee.

After a long time, it finally connected.

Chen Zhonghe, in a whimpering tone, said, ”Secretary Tao, the situation is dire...”

”What’s dire? The sky isn’t falling, speak slowly!” On the other end, Secretary Tao’s steady voice came through, clearly carrying a hint of displeasure.

Being the great ********, Tao Dongsheng always maintained a composure like Mount Tai was collapsing before him while showing no change in expression in front of his subordinates, but whether this was truly the case, only he knew.

”Secretary Tao, here’s the thing...” Chen Zhonghe then recounted the situation.

Tao Dongsheng was clearly hearing about this for the first time and was immensely surprised, ”Damn, that Ye fellow had his physician license seized by you yesterday, and today a high-ranking official comes to seek his treatment, how could it be such a coincidence?”

”Secretary Tao, I’m also baffled! How can this be such a coincidence? Ah!” Chen Zhonghe sighed heavily.

”Never mind that, hurry and bring Ye Haochuan back to me, and make sure it’s done with sincerity. Otherwise, if it’s botched, both of us are finished,” Tao Dongsheng grunted.

”Yes, Secretary Tao, I’ll get on it right away.”

After hanging up, Tao Dongsheng, with a heavy heart, touched his somewhat bald forehead, sighed, and thought, this situation really is a bit tricky! He had planned to suppress Ye Haochuan, to make him yield, and to have him look at his granddaughter’s polio, but not only did the suppression not work, it backfired.

However, being an old fox well-versed in officialdom, with a deep understanding of Marxist-Leninist dialectical philosophy, how could a tricky situation deter him? It might even be an opportunity! At the very least, he could use this to his advantage, have that Ye kid take a look at his granddaughter’s illness, and smoothly resolve the problem.

As for whether that Ye kid would complain to Senior Secretary Xiang, he wasn’t worried. When the time comes, he could just push all the blame onto Chen Zhonghe and make him the scapegoat.

With this thought, Tao Dongsheng’s expression relaxed, he picked up the teacup on his desk, took a sip, and squinted his eyes, ”Delicious indeed!”

But the question is, will things go as he anticipates?
