Invincible Little School Doctor

Chapter 422: Chapter 421: Sorry, Please Go Back.

Upon hearing this, Secretary Zhang dared not dally any longer and hurriedly rushed off to find someone.

Meanwhile, the patients and their families around them relished in schadenfreude. If only they knew better to begin with, why did they bothered in the first place? Now they realized just how big of a trouble they were in, didn’t they?

Soon, Chen Zhonghe received a call from Secretary Zhang, who said that Auntie Tong, who was in charge of cleaning, had been found. However, she kept making excuses about being too busy with her work and adamantly refused to come up.

Chen Zhonghe’s face turned an iron shade of green. A mere cleaning lady dared to give him the run-around?

Just as he was about to explode with anger, the burly man who had escorted him to the hospital scoffed and said, ”What time is it to still be putting on airs? Now is the time when you’re begging people, not the other way around. Shouldn’t you be going there yourself? Ah, I really don’t understand what goes through the minds of you officials.”

Chen Zhonghe’s face turned beet red, and he was unable to retort. He had no choice but to slink out of the office.

In the outpatient hall, Chen Zhonghe found Secretary Zhang and also met Ye Haochuan’s mother, Tong Xiangxiu.

”Ms. Tong, hello, this... I am Director Chen Zhonghe from the municipal health bureau. May I ask where your son Ye Haochuan is now?”

Chen Zhonghe asked in a tone dripping with humility.

As soon as Tong Xiangxiu heard his title, she remembered that it was this man who had caused her son to lose his job. Her face immediately turned cold, and she said, ”I don’t know.”

Chen Zhonghe’s complexion changed, and he was about to lose his temper, but considering the circumstances he was in, he had to soften his approach and said with a forced smile, ”Ms. Tong, about the previous incident, it was actually a misunderstanding. We have already investigated thoroughly. The incident yesterday wasn’t a medical accident; someone was using it as a guise to frame Dr. Ye. So now, we have come here sincerely to request that Dr. Ye return to work...”

”And what were you officials doing earlier?” Tong Xiangxiu’s expression softened a bit.

Chen Zhonghe felt incredibly aggrieved at this point. When had he, the director of the health bureau, ever had to be so obsequious to a cleaning lady?

However, at this moment, he had no other choice but to contain his frustration, smiling obsequiously, nodding repeatedly, ”You are correct in your criticism, Ms. Tong. We will definitely correct our style of work and take the people’s supervision of us seriously. We welcome everyone’s criticism of our work. See, isn’t the director of the health bureau personally here to apologize?”

Tong Xiangxiu nodded slightly, ”That’s more like it.”

Director Chen immediately inquired about Ye Haochuan’s whereabouts.

”At home,” said Tong Xiangxiu.

Director Chen felt like rolling his eyes. He thought to himself, I bloody well know he’s at your house, but where in hell is your house?

”Heh, may I ask Ms. Tong where your home is? Could you possibly lead us there?” Director Chen asked, barely concealing his irritation.

Tong Xiangxiu snorted, ”I can tell you my address, but lead you there? How could that be possible? Can’t you see I’m busy?”

Director Chen’s face twitched uncontrollably. It was clear that the woman in front of him was mocking him! He was so angry that he wanted to use his official power to severely reprimand the woman, but reason told him that would be a fool’s errand.

”Alright, that’s fine, Ms. Tong. Please tell me your address.”

”It’s in a rental room not far from the school gate, in the Heyun Jiayuan Community...” Tong Xiangxiu gave the detailed address.

Chen Zhonghe kept it firmly in mind and immediately went to find Ye Haochuan with Secretary Zhang.

Five minutes later, the two arrived at the rental house where Ye Haochuan lived. They knocked on the door, waited a while, and it opened. The person who came to the door was indeed Ye Haochuan.

However, at this moment, Ye Haochuan was wearing a kitchen apron and seemed to be busy with something in the kitchen.

At first, Chen Zhonghe thought he was cooking, but then his nose, keener than a dog’s, suddenly sniffed out a scent of Chinese medicine. Strangely, within the scent of the medicine, there was also a faint fragrance that involuntarily invigorated the spirit. He couldn’t help but pause, wondering what Doctor Ye was doing at home?

However, the most important thing at the moment was to quickly get Ye Haochuan back to Haishan University Affiliated Hospital.

Thus, Chen Zhonghe smiled and said, ”Doctor Ye, we’ve finally found you. Let’s go inside and talk. I have some good news for you.”

As he spoke, he moved to enter. But he was so hasty that he stumbled and nearly fell to the ground.

However, as soon as Ye Haochuan saw it was him and the secretary, his face immediately showed displeasure. Blocking the doorway with his body, he said mockingly, ”Oh, isn’t this Director Chen? My place isn’t a hospital. If you’re here to inspect, I think you’ve got the wrong place, haven’t you?”

”Doctor Ye, this...” Chen Zhonghe smiled awkwardly, ”The thing is, the investigation results from our department are in. Yesterday’s incident was indeed a misunderstanding, and we have specifically come to ask you to return to your job at the Haishan University Affiliated Hospital.”

”A misunderstanding? Just like that, we’re supposed to consider the matter resolved?” Ye Haochuan snorted.

”Of course, we can’t just let it go without due course. We need to apologize to you. It was our mistake. Doctor Ye, you suffered an injustice,” Chen Zhonghe said.

Feigning profound concern, Ye Haochuan replied, ”Director Chen, you can’t say it like that. Actually, I’ve also been reflecting on my mistakes from yesterday. When I was exposing those people, I should have kept good evidence so that our upper-level leaders wouldn’t have any misunderstandings.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Zhonghe thought that the young man was quite reasonable—after all, he was even proactive in admitting his own faults. He let out a sigh of relief and smiled, ”It’s good that Doctor Ye can recognize his mistakes. It’s commendable and praiseworthy. Just keep it up in the future...”

”But, Director Chen, the mistake I made this time was indeed too grave. These medical disturbances have become a societal issue. I am deeply afraid of the improper handling of the incident yesterday, and I have been reflecting deeply on it. Therefore, Director Chen, I think I should take some more time to reflect thoroughly and return to work when I’ve completed my self-reflection...”

Ye Haochuan sneered coldly. Damn, they think I’m a fool? They’re still talking in official jargon, thinking a single sentence from them will make me go back?

Humph, it’s a good thing Mayor Lin tipped me off. Only then did I find out that a VIP from the province came seeking my treatment. If I really went back to the hospital, it would be giving you and Tao some face, but I just won’t go back—I’ll piss you off instead.

Only then did Chen Zhonghe realize that the young man before him was not so easy to fool. He said urgently, ”Doctor Ye, this isn’t good, is it? Haishan University Affiliated Hospital just got established, and we really need you now. Many patients are waiting for you. How about going to work this afternoon?”

”Sorry, Director Chen, I really don’t have the time. My apologies, but I’ll have to ask you to leave,” Ye Haochuan said as he gestured for them to go.

With things having reached this point, Chen Zhonghe couldn’t worry about his pride anymore. Gritting his teeth, he said, ”Doctor Ye, listen to me. I couldn’t do anything about yesterday’s situation. It was all Secretary Tao’s idea. He went to great lengths to treat his granddaughter. As a mere Director of the Health Bureau, how could I defy an order?”

At this point, he had no choice but to offend that old fox, Tao Dongsheng. He would have to think of a way to make it up later.

”I don’t want to hear any more explanations about that problem, please leave. I’m very busy here,” Ye Haochuan finished, then shoved Chen Zhonghe aside and slammed the door shut with a bang.

Watching the door shut tightly, Chen Zhonghe felt as if the sky was about to collapse. He was so full of regret that it turned his guts green. Why was I so foolish? Why would I offend someone I shouldn’t have messed with?
