Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1999: Chapter 2000: New Variables

Originally, it was Lianna who asked Angel to persuade Lord Rhein to change the design of the Crystal Ball, thinking that since Angel had become a member of the Research and Development Institute, perhaps with his status, Lord Rhein might be persuaded.

Now, according to Angel, has he really convinced Lord Rhein? And has he already started researching a new communicator?

Lianna’s heart was filled with joy: ”So that’s how it is, I’ll leave Kudodo to you then. You must research it well. If you’re short on personnel, do let me know. Even if you need an Official Wizard, I believe someone wouldn’t mind lending a hand.”

The majority of the Wizards from the Barbarian Cave have difficulty accepting the Crystal Ball, especially after using it for over a thousand years—they’re truly tired of seeing it.

Especially Lianna, who, just a few days ago, was thinking that the Witches attending the Tea Party would internally laugh upon seeing the Barbarian Cave full of old Crystal Balls, even if they didn’t say anything aloud.

But there was no way around it. Lianna could fiercely argue alongside Tree Spirit at the Tea Party venue, thanks to Lord Rhein’s guaranteed support; however, the Crystal Ball pertained to Lord Rhein’s preferences... no, his obsession—to the extent that sparing the design of the Wizard Robe or the design of the vehicles from being covered in Crystal Ball patterns was still considered lenient.

Therefore, even knowing she might be ridiculed by other Witches at the Tea Party, Lianna could only endure.

But now, Angel says he’s researching information exchange—isn’t that a new communicator?! How could Lianna not be excited? If it’s released before the Tea Party, all the better.

Nevertheless, Lianna herself is an Alchemist; she also knows that the development and research of an Alchemical Device are not so simple. It’s unlikely to be ready in time for the Tea Party.

Yet, regardless, Lianna fully supports it; she’s utterly fed up with the Crystal Ball and any alternatives are welcomed without further insistence.

Precisely because of this, even though she knows Kudodo should now focus on honing his skills, she wholeheartedly supports Kudodo joining Angel’s research.

Angel looked at Lianna’s excited eyes and could somewhat understand her thoughts.

Angel smiled wryly to himself; he wanted to say: You probably misunderstood. He didn’t actually persuade Lord Rhein to change the Crystal Ball design.

But after thinking it over, Angel decided not to tell Lianna the truth. Anyway, once the log-in device for the Wilderness of Dreams spreads within the Barbarian Cave in the future, the Crystal Ball will naturally be phased out. It’s... a roundabout way to save the day.

Angel didn’t want to dwell too much on the topic of Crystal Balls, so he quickly changed the subject: ”Earlier, you mentioned you needed my help with something?”

Lianna nodded. Because there were a few apprentices nearby, Lianna didn’t speak directly but mouthed her words and used tricks to transmit them to Angel.

After listening to Lianna’s request, Angel didn’t react much, but the Tree Spirit beside him smiled.

The Tree Spirit’s smile didn’t signify Lianna had said anything good; it simply expressed: Great, I’m finally not alone! There are fellow travelers now!

Lianna hoped to gain Angel’s help to refine some special alchemical devices before the Tea Party, which didn’t need to be highly practical but should showcase the grandeur of this Tea Party.

Although it sounds somewhat vain, each Tea Party has always been like this; ”competition” is omnipresent.

Vanity and competition may not foster an admirable atmosphere, but they often serve as the driving force for the Tea Party’s progression, even making it more grandiose over time and turning it into a first-rate event within the Southern Domain Wizards’ Realm.

This is probably something many male Wizards cannot comprehend.

The Tree Spirit actually didn’t understand either, but upon seeing Lianna target Angel, he felt a bit of schadenfreude and smiled. However, after smiling, he became somewhat sad as he was in the vortex himself, deeply empathizing with Angel’s plight.

Yet, to the Tree Spirit’s surprise, after hearing Lianna’s suggestion, Angel didn’t display extreme reluctance as he did. Instead, he seriously contemplated it.

Lianna originally thought Angel would outright refuse; little did she expect him to seriously consider it, which left her slightly embarrassed...

”I didn’t expect you’re still researching the communicator. How about this, if you’re unavailable, I can go to Ashiliya Academy to find others to help.” Lianna took a step back, after all, the Tea Party happens only once, and the communicator is more important.

Angel pondered: ”How about we wait a few days on this matter.”

”Wait a few days?” Lianna didn’t understand what Angel meant; if it wasn’t possible, it would be better to refuse earlier so she could seek backup at Ashiliya. Why wait?

The Tree Spirit was also bewildered; he didn’t understand what Angel was thinking. Previously, when asked to search for talent, Angel said he needed a few days; now, regarding Lianna’s matter, he also needs to wait a few days.

Is there something fishy going on here?

Faced with the uncertainty of the Tree Spirit and Lianna, Angel blinked and imitated the tone of the White Bear, using words akin to a mystic: ”Because in a few days, something unexpected may happen.”

”Unexpected?” Lianna was even more puzzled; isn’t it just refining a few prestigious alchemical tools? Why mention the unexpected?

”Could it be that something earth-shattering will occur in a few days, preventing the Tea Party from taking place entirely? Is it a Demon God’s descent or a plane invasion?” Lianna found it hard to believe; if such a significant event were to happen, Observers would surely have commented on it during the Star-gazing Day.

”The unexpected I refer to won’t stop the Tea Party from happening, but it might change some of its established patterns.” Angel said, ”As for what exactly it is, you’ll know when it happens. Anyway, it won’t be longer than a few days.”

Lianna and the Tree Spirit still felt confused, but since Angel mentioned the unforeseen event would appear soon, they could afford to wait.

”Alright, I look forward to seeing what this unexpected event will be.”

”You’ll know by then.” Angel made a mysterious prediction, then suddenly shifted his tone to a lazy one: ”There shouldn’t be anything else, right? I’m going to take them with me.”

Lianna: ”You’re not residing on Illusion Demon Island now?”

Angel nodded: ”I’m currently staying in the outside world’s ruins. If you need to find me, you can come to Tree Spirit Lord; he knows where I am.”

Having said this, Angel signaled for Baruba and the two little ones to follow, then turned and headed for the door.

Lianna watched Angel’s figure disappear and slightly furrowed her eyebrows.

”When he mentioned the unexpected event, he was so certain. I have a premonition that the unforeseen event he spoke of might be a big deal.” Lianna was unsure about what Angel meant by the unexpected event, but it was enough to make Angel concerned, which made Lianna take it seriously.

”No matter what unexpected event it is, if it can solve the Tea Party’s space issue, that would be great...” Tree Spirit mumbled to himself.

Lianna turned her head: ”It’s impossible. Even Angel can’t simply conjure up a suitable space out of thin air. So, Tree Spirit Lord should make a decision soon, so I can get inside early to set up.”

The Tree Spirit was taken aback, his eyes spinning rapidly: ”Uh... Lord Rhein has something to discuss with me, so I’ll head over there first and talk later.”

With these words said, the Tree Spirit closed his eyes and pretended to be dead.

Under normal circumstances, Lianna would awaken the Tree Spirit and continue discussing. But today, because the new communicator has prospects of ridding them of the outdated Crystal Ball, Lianna was in a good mood and didn’t push further.

After all, the Tree Spirit would eventually agree. She didn’t rush, as Lord Rhein would also urge him on.

With this thought, Lianna followed Angel’s footsteps and turned around to leave.
