Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1952: Chapter 1953: Three Apprentices

Rhein’s question had just been uttered when it was answered, not by Maya, but by the Tree Spirit standing nearby.

”If I remember correctly, the doomsday fragment predicted by Maya is closely related to the ’Doomsday Eye’ you showed me earlier.” The Tree Spirit looked at Angel.

Rhein looked at the Tree Spirit in puzzlement, who then briefly explained the Doomsday Eye to him.

Sanders added a few more words from the side.

Back then, to ascertain the specific information of the Doomsday Eye, Angel melded the illusion of the Doomsday Eye into his alchemy, creating three Glass Beads, which he handed to Sanders, the Tree Spirit, and Greya respectively.

However, both Sanders and the Tree Spirit claimed ignorance, whereas Greya provided some clues that allowed Angel to roughly confirm certain things.

Once Rhein had a general understanding of the situation, Angel also displayed the imagery from the Doomsday Eye.

Upon careful comparison, Rhein could also roughly confirm that the scenes from the Doomsday Eye and the doomsday scenery depicted by Maya seemed to belong to the same place.

”The doomsday scenery displayed by Maya contains more details, including some deities and evil spirits absent from the Doomsday Eye. Unfortunately, I have never heard of these deity-like beings or these evil spirits,” Rhein commented, indicating that he couldn’t provide further clues on this matter.

Rhein turned to Angel: ”Since Dororo is very certain that this matter is related to you, now that you’ve seen Maya’s doomsday scenery, can you think of anything related?”

Angel didn’t answer immediately, instead, he wore a contemplative expression.

Rhein, thinking Angel was mulling over his question, didn’t interrupt him. However, Angel was actually pondering something else.

Privately, he had an indistinct hypothesis about the world of the Doomsday Eye. But he was considering whether to reveal this matter.

Because this involved some of his secrets.

The secret concerning The Gate of Void.

In the deceptive blood-like sky of the Doomsday Eye, there was a particularly concealed red strip, which Angel speculated might be the mysterious object—the red scarf—belonging to the Mystic Hunter Zorn from the Orderly Guild.

Zorn and Frost are both Mystic Hunters currently engaged in a mission to retrieve a lost and uncontrolled object; barring unforeseen circumstances, they should be in the ’Reincarnation Casket of the Undead’. Hence, Angel could roughly deduce that the events depicted in the Doomsday Eye probably occur within the Reincarnation Casket.

Moreover, Angel learned from Frost that the Reincarnation Casket harbors various legendary-and-beyond level evil spirits, therefore a deity war as depicted in the doomsday scenery is plausible.

Angel could disclose the hint about the red scarf or reveal the matter concerning the Reincarnation Casket, but how would he explain his connection with the Reincarnation Casket?

His vague connection to the Reincarnation Casket arose because he accidentally entered it using The Gate of Void. But this matter couldn’t be spoken of.

Should he perhaps use the excuse from during the time at Sky Mechanical City and place all the blame on Frost?

Or simply feign ignorance?

While Angel was deep in thought, Maya suddenly announced, ”I have another crucial clue here. Perhaps after seeing it, Angel, you might have more ideas.”

Maya’s abrupt announcement surprised Angel. It took him a moment to realize that Maya probably assumed he couldn’t come up with anything, thus introduced a new clue.

Maya presented the last scene of the doomsday scenery —

On the nearly shattered earth, several dark shadows were running, trying to evade the Skeleton Army trailing behind them.

Due to the distant perspective, the appearance of these shadows couldn’t be discerned.

However, Maya thoughtfully isolated the shadows and manifested them directly in front, using illusion techniques. Although most remained indistinct shadows, two among them revealed a genuine visage.

Maya said, ”Though these two are still difficult to identify by looks, their unique features allowed me to complete their appearance. With no surprise, it should be them.”

When seeing these two, everyone except Rhein paused in astonishment.

Rhein had been stationed at the ruins lately, scarcely attending to external affairs, much less matters related to apprentices. Thus, he didn’t recognize these two.

But the Tree Spirit and Sanders knew, and Angel was even more familiar due to personal encounters.

”Wilder and Dong Liz?!”

Both were members of the New Star Competition, their final scores shone exceptionally, marking them as top-tier supernovas of the new generation.

”These two are apprentices, why would apprentices appear in this doomsday scenery?” The Tree Spirit furrowed his brow. ”Could it be, Rhein, your deduction was wrong and this truly is the Southern Domain?”

Since generally, Wizard Apprentices rarely leave the Southern Domain without special causes, seeing Wilder and Dong Liz made the Tree Spirit doubt the location of the doomsday scenery as the Southern Domain.

After learning of Wilder and Dong Liz’s identities, Rhein also found himself unable to draw conclusions.

Confounded, Angel felt perplexed as well. His deduction was that the doomsday scenery likely occurred in the Reincarnation Casket, but why would Dong Liz and Wilder go there?

Their strength was too low to break in.

Moreover, barring unforeseen events, the perimeter surrounding the Reincarnation Casket should have been restricted by those dispatched from Sky Mechanical City, so there shouldn’t be anyone allowed in, right?

As Angel mulled over these questions, his gaze involuntarily fell upon the shadows depicted on the light screen.

Suddenly, his eyes narrowed slightly.

Among the shadows, he seemed to recognize a familiar figure. The figure’s attire was adorned with unusual straps, the shoes had spike-like designs resembling rivets; their head bore wing-shaped hairclips, but the tall stature was not witch-like.

”This person seems like...” Angel pointed at the shadow, while swiftly constructing a human-shaped illusion with his other hand.

Though the shadow’s appearance was indiscernible, once Angel completed the illusion, it matched the shadow perfectly.

”This is Falga from Silent Hill?!”

Confirming the person as Falga brought more chaos—first it was Winter Academy, then Shaloo Ridge, and now Silent Hill’s apprentice emerged.

It seemed these shadows hailed from various wizard organizations; plus, involvement by Frostmoon and Fairy Tale Town from the Wizards’ Alliance was apparent.

Exactly what kind of connection existed among them?

”These three should have just finished participating in the New Star Competition and ought to be cultivating in the Endless Corridor, why are they here?” The Tree Spirit muttered in confusion.

Tree Spirit’s mutterings seemed to spark an idea in Angel.

He didn’t know whether there were other connections among these three, but what was certain was that they were likely cultivating in the Endless Corridor for the coming years... more precisely, training in the Sky Mechanical City.

And the Reincarnation Casket is also the goal of the Sky Mechanical City.

Angel had emphasized before that one should never step into the Reincarnation Casket, as it is a grave for even Legendary Wizards.

Angel believed that Dean Muse and City Lord Rosen should heed his words.

However, just because they wouldn’t go in didn’t mean they couldn’t send others.

Could it be that Sky Mechanical City sent these apprentices into the Reincarnation Casket to explore?
