Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1991: Chapter 1992: A Young Heart’s Secret

The Tree Spirit, when commenting on Kudodo earlier, also speculated that he was very short of money. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have chosen to join the adventure group, often lurking in the wild.

However, Angel didn’t understand why Kudodo, now only a Level 1 Apprentice, needed so many Magic Crystals.

Angel knew that low-level apprentices truly lacked money, but this financial struggle usually erupted at the peak of being a Level 1 Apprentice because that’s when they start thinking about breaking through to the next level. If they rely on external forces, it requires a significant amount of Magic Crystals.

Given Kudodo’s current level, unless he is overly ambitious and wants to purchase some high-grade alchemy equipment, taking up tasks as a lab assistant would actually provide sufficient rewards.

Angel: ”What do you need Magic Crystals for?”

Kudodo was silent for a moment before saying, ”I want to buy ’Blood Technique’...”

Angel was a bit stunned, thinking Kudodo had his eye on some piece of equipment or a handy weapon, and that’s why he was desperately gathering money. But he didn’t expect Kudodo to give such a... bizarre answer.

Yes, in Angel’s view, it was extremely bizarre.

”Blood Technique” isn’t that kind of secret blood magic Flora studied. Its full name is ”Karna Blood Technique,” a general trick manual compiled by a Bloodline Wizard named Karna, recording all bloodline side tricks. It consists of upper, middle, and lower volumes, each corresponding to the Bloodline Apprentice’s three-tier cultivation.

If Angel remembered correctly, Kudodo’s talent is in the Elemental Wood Element of the Natural System.

Why would a natural system apprentice think about saving money to buy a bloodline side trick compendium? This is why Angel found it utterly unreasonable and inexplicable.

It’s not that cross-system cultivation isn’t possible, but Kudodo hasn’t reached the stage for cross-system cultivation. Without solidifying his natural system’s foundation, he’s already coveting the neighboring bloodline side. This isn’t just about greed; it’s about having an intellect issue.

”’Blood Technique’ is not what you should be learning at this stage. You should be practicing natural tricks, not ’Blood Technique’.”

Kudodo lowered his head: ”I know, but...”

After hesitating several times, Kudodo finally spoke his mind: ”I’m not learning it for myself, but for Babaya.”

Angel carefully observed Kudodo’s expression, confirming he wasn’t lying. Angel was also aware that Babaya was on the bloodline side. If Kudodo were to buy ”Blood Technique” and not use it, only Babaya could use it.

Moreover, Angel also knew Kudodo indeed had a crush on Babaya. Anyhow, when Kudodo chose to become a member of the Kulakuka Tribe’s branch, it was also to follow in Babaya’s footsteps.

Now, Kudodo is in the spring of his youth, and for the goddess in his heart, it’s indeed possible for him to do something so impulsive.

Angel sighed. Lianna asked him to come and see what was up with Kudodo, and now the reason has been found. Likely, Kudodo’s lack of focus on cultivation and constant participation in the adventure group is all in pursuit of Babaya.

This isn’t incorrect, youthful infatuation is actually a very beautiful memory. Many classics, even if ending in tragedy, will praise such poetic youthful stories.

It’s no problem to pursue beautiful things. But in Angel’s eyes, Kudodo’s actions are a bit misplaced.

Looking at Kudodo, who remained silent with his head down, Angel thought for a while and decided to say a few words, since he had promised Lianna.

”The most beautiful thing is being qualified and capable to stand beside her and fight alongside her. If you only give and please, you only achieve her, while wasting your own time and eroding your own potential.”

Angel didn’t name names, but he believed Kudodo understood.

Angel expected that Kudodo would at least take in some of what he said, but unexpectedly Kudodo directly shook his head, saying, ”It’s not like that.”

Angel quietly observed Kudodo, who slowly calmed down from his initial excitement. After a period of silence, Kudodo said, ”I know our goals are all for the future of the tribe. I also want to be by Babaya’s side with my strength, but I really can’t bear to see Babaya so exhausted.”

”Clearly, she’s the most hardworking among us. She’s not only carrying the future of the tribe, but also bearing the pressure of time, yet fate is too unfair to her!”

Angel actually agreed with this statement by Kudodo. Babaya is indeed the most diligent among the three of them, and the one Angel holds the most promise for. As for the time pressure Kudodo mentioned, it referred to Babaya’s promise to her grandmother. She wanted to, like Angel, set a five-year goal, within which she would strive to improve herself, then go to the Old Earth Continent to extend her grandmother’s life.

However, Angel did not understand why Kudodo said that fate was unfair to Babaya?

Without needing to ask, Kudodo said it himself.

—No one is mentoring Babaya.

This was the truth.

The answer surprised Angel a bit, but upon closer thought, it made sense.

Babaya’s mentor is ”Thorn of Tyranny” Madeline. Ever since Madeline went to the Abyss with Angel, she stayed there to thwart Dong La, never returning.

For Madeline, she acts for a higher cause, for her deceased kin. Her actions aren’t wrong, and as an Official Wizard, no one can constrain her movements.

But it’s poor Babaya. She had just become Madeline’s student when Madeline left and never returned.

Without a mentor’s guidance, she couldn’t learn any bloodline side tricks. The only way was to buy relevant manuals from the Cloudtop Library through Magic Crystals.

But earning Magic Crystals was also very difficult for Babaya, as her skills were low, and she couldn’t take on any lucrative tasks. It became a vicious cycle, always stuck at the bottom of the cultivation chain.

Babaya was like David in the past and Baruba now, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t see a way up.

Babaya looked gentle, but her gentleness carried resilience and strength. Her ambition was high, not willing to ask others for help, so she quietly bore this painful outcome.

Kudodo, because of his crush on Babaya, saw Babaya’s predicament and unhesitatingly decided to help her.

Babaya would surely not want to trouble Kudodo, so Kudodo didn’t meet Babaya. He just quietly took on adventure tasks, wandering outside, trying to earn more Magic Crystals to buy ”Blood Technique” for Babaya.

After hearing the entire context, Angel couldn’t help but sigh in his heart.

This indeed is not merely pure infatuation, but a story of salvation and hope.

The source of it all was Madeline leaving too soon, leading Babaya not to get complete inheritance, and Kudodo feeling sorry for Babaya’s situation, thus giving up his own cultivation.

Lianna probably didn’t expect this situation to unfold this way either.

Looking at Kudodo’s reddened eyes, Angel gently sighed: ”I understand, take me to see Babaya.”
