Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1990: Chapter 1991: Reasons for Adventuring

This is an extremely luxurious hall.

Burgundy and gold curtains, crystal glowing chandeliers, tapestries of epic tales, and candle holders with an indistinguishable material, all under a starry canopy, reveal the grand luxury of this hall.

It’s just like what Kudodo has seen in books, traditional nobility spending vast sums to build an extravagant banquet hall to showcase their heritage.

While Kudodo was astonished by the changes around him, the tinkling piano and lilting singing suddenly sounded in his ears.

Kudodo looked up to see a Teacup Band frolicking around the chandelier in mid-air. Despite their cute appearance, these teacups had grown thin arms and legs, playing the piano and blowing wind instruments. There were even performers swaying to the music.

One moment, he thought it was a noble banquet hall, the next it seemed to have transformed into a magical house from a fairy tale.

Kudodo didn’t know what was happening, so he turned his gaze to the red-haired man not far away.

Earlier, the red-haired man had been standing at the door of a cramped room, but now he was lounging on a redwood upholstered sofa, leaning lazily against the armrest, completely at ease as if he were at home.

”Examiner?” Kudodo exerted force with his feet, his figure flashed, and he appeared on the coffee table in front of the red-haired man, looking at him questioningly: ”Is my adventure guild test being held here?”

Angel looked at Kudodo standing on the plate, his expression as simple and honest as ever, even somewhat naïve, standing in the white porcelain plate as if he were a delicacy in this vast magical house.

He actually thought this was some kind of guild test? Angel couldn’t help but laugh.

Angel wanted to tease Kudodo, following his words. But seeing Kudodo’s earnest face, with determination and longing in his eyes, Angel decided to put away this sudden burst of mischief.

”Kudodo, this is not some guild test. Look closely at who I am.” As Angel’s words fell, every muscle in his body began to ripple.

Kudodo was so startled by the scene before him that he retreated a few steps, accidentally stepping onto the edge of the soup spoon on the plate, landing right in its center. But Kudodo, unaware, still tried to step back, only to be blocked by the spoon’s handle.

It took Kudodo quite a while to react, and as he stood up, his feet flashed, ready to flee. However, before he could move, a phantom blue hand gently grasped him.

”I recall you being quite brave, when did you become so cautious?” Angel manipulated the Hand of Magic, forcing Kudodo to turn his face.

Kudodo was compelled to look at the ”monster” behind him, but when he saw the person’s appearance clearly, he froze.

The earlier strange, writhing muscles were gone, in front of him sat a handsome, golden-haired man. Somewhere between a youth and a young man, he had both the radiant temperament of the morning sun and the mature composure of noontime.

Kudodo didn’t recognize the previous red-haired man, but the golden-haired man before him was someone he knew all too well.

”Papa... Lord Pat!” Kudodo’s face lit up with surprise, but the next second, he seemed afraid of being tricked, and asked: ”Are you truly Lord Pat? Or is this an illusion?”

”Indeed, you are more cautious than before, seems you’ve experienced a lot during this time.” Angel did not explain, he simply flicked his fingers lightly, and an illusion of a high-rise building appeared beside Kudodo.

Kudodo was extremely familiar with this building. Back when he was in Angel’s bracelet, the whole Kulakuka Tribe lived in this tower.

No one else knew about this. Which means, the man in front of him is truly Wizard Pat!

After confirming Angel’s identity, Kudodo first felt joy, but the next second, he seemed to think of something, and those suppressed emotions in his heart surged up as words stuck in his throat.

But just when those emotions were about to be expressed, Kudodo suddenly stopped. He didn’t know if he should talk to Angel about it, after all... this wasn’t related to Angel.

What Kudodo didn’t know was that his expression, flickering between joy and conflict, was entirely noticed by Angel.

Angel mused internally: ”It seems Kudodo really has some heavy secrets, as Lianna mentioned.”

After quite a while, Angel hadn’t heard Kudodo speak, so he decided to ask directly: ”I’m here because I have some things I want to ask you. But before that, I’m curious, why did you think I was some kind of examiner just now?”

Although Kudodo had been traveling between different adventure groups in recent times, he was aware of external news. He knew Angel had advanced to an Official Wizard, no longer an unknown figure. Even if Angel asked gently, Kudodo dared not take it lightly.

”I submitted an application to join the Tiger Armor adventure group the day before yesterday, and today they arranged to meet me here, so initially, I mistook you as the examiner from the Tiger Armor adventure group,” Kudodo said, lowering his head in embarrassment.

Angel: ”You’re still at the entry level, not even halfway through Level 1 Apprentice, and all the tricks you know are discounted Level 0 ones. Your current objective should be cultivation, not adventure.”

”Adventuring isn’t wrong, but you should know that it’s very risky. With your current skill, you probably can’t even defeat a mortal Knight, what foundation do you have to venture out?”

The Barbarian Cave supports apprentices to go on adventures, otherwise, the Task Hall wouldn’t have so many outdoor tasks. But the minimum threshold for taking outdoor tasks is usually a Level 1 peak apprentice or higher, because after reaching this stage, apprentices learn more tricks, gaining some survival ability.

Before reaching Level 1 peak, even if lacking money, tasks are generally taken within the organization.

Of course, this is just an unwritten rule. Some ordinary Level 1 apprentices also venture out; they might not be able to take outdoor tasks but can accompany adventure groups, thus bypassing the ironclad rule. Clearly, this is the case with Kudodo.

Angel: ”You know Feng Man, right? I’ve heard he’s quite popular at the Sky Tower lately, almost becoming the common enemy of apprentices there.”

Kudodo nodded, he hadn’t been to the Sky Tower yet but he was aware of Feng Man, the newcomer slayer.

”He is also a Talented One I brought into the Barbarian Cave, entering the Extraordinary World even later than you. However, his abilities have already surpassed yours by a small tier, and he may advance to Second Level Apprentice soon.” Angel: ”If you keep following adventure groups around, you’ll probably fall further behind your peers.”

Kudodo hung his head, dejected: ”But... but I really need money. Only by joining an adventure group can I quickly obtain Magic Crystals.”
