Chapter 1975: Chapter 1976: Tales of the Fallen Star Sea

”Ahead is the Fallen Star Sea, renowned as one of the wonders of the Pamiji Plateau,” said the Tree Spirit, pointing forward after they flew over a low mountain range.

Angel looked ahead; it was currently midnight. The vast lands and dimness left only a pitch-black view visible to the naked eye, yet the rich water elements present in the air indicated that a lake lay ahead.

To be called the Fallen Star Sea, the lake’s area must be enormous.

While pondering how vast the Fallen Star Sea might be, they arrived above it.

Upon stepping into the boundary of the Fallen Star Sea, Angel finally understood why the Tree Spirit referred to it as a wonder of the Pamiji Plateau.

Indeed, it was breathtakingly beautiful here.

Even Angel, who usually thought with his left brain, was startled by the beauty of the Fallen Star Sea.

Calling it the Fallen Star Sea might not be entirely accurate. Removing ”Fallen” might be more precise.

In Angel’s view, this enormous lake was like the purest mirror, reflecting the night sky’s starlit detail. When you’re above this lake, it’s hard to distinguish whether the stars lie beneath your feet or above your head.

This lake, beneath a starry night, can truly be called a ”Star Sea.”

A Star Sea in the true sense.

”Beautiful, isn’t it?” The Tree Spirit, initially flying rapidly, slowed down as they passed the Fallen Star Sea. He glanced at Angel, whose eyes were shining with the starry reflection cast by the Star Sea.

”When Maya Witch was still an apprentice, she lived by the Fallen Star Sea, building a Wizard’s Tower by the shore and residing there long-term. The lake’s perfect star reflection greatly helped Maya improve in her star-gazing technique.”

”However, after her star-gazing fame grew, many wizards came to seek her out for astrology. Initially, Maya Witch didn’t refuse, but one day, a squad claiming to be from the Blood Demon Cult asked her to predict certain aspects of an ancient maze. Maya complied. Yet, just as she disclosed the answer, the same witch who held her arm in gratitude turned and plunged a sharp blade into her chest without warning.”

”Of course, Maya didn’t die in the end. I saved her.”

Maya, as the only prophecy apprentice in the Barbarian Cave back then capable of advancing to an official wizard, definitely drew attention. Like the relic Angel currently resides in, the Tree Spirit planted an avatar tree at Maya’s Wizard’s Tower doorway at that time, saving her at the brink of her demise.

”After that, Maya moved back to the Mirror World from the Fallen Star Sea.”

Angel: ”Why did those Blood Demon Cult wizards attack Maya? Did they bear grudges against the Barbarian Cave?”

The Tree Spirit shook his head: ”No grudges, but the maze they aimed to explore belonged to a Legendary Wizard’s legacy. Another team also gained the right to explore it. They feared that the other team might seek Maya too, uncovering the maze’s secrets. Since Maya was famous then and didn’t refuse prophecy requests from outsiders, they decided to strike first, silencing Maya to permanently bury the maze’s secrets.”

While the Tree Spirit seemed to be recounting past events to Angel, Angel understood that the Tree Spirit’s real intention was to remind him and Dororo.

The Wizards’ Realm isn’t a benevolent, orderly, peaceful society. People might strike viciously for reasons beyond understanding at any time.

Sometimes, one might die without knowing the reason.

In this world that sets aside good and evil and emphasizes the ”my way” style, personal strength is paramount.

If your strength isn’t great enough, it’s wise to hold back. Having a skill that earns respect isn’t inherently wrong, but inviting trouble could be.

Angel has currently advanced to an official wizard, nearing True Knowledge. Thus, the Tree Spirit’s story isn’t really for him, but more as a caution for Dororo.

With Dororo’s recent acclaim at the star-gazing event, it’s inherently a good thing. Yet, his strength hasn’t reached the point where he can ignore rules and pressure, making him vulnerable to struggles over his fame.

Most importantly, Dororo remains a descendant of the Baiyuan Clan.

His fame is rising, and if people uncover his true origins, many may plot against him. If it’s merely for his prophecy, that’s one thing. But what if faced with people like the Blood Demon Cult?

Not everyone is as fortunate as Maya, having a Tree Spirit’s protection during an assassination attempt.

Thus, the best approach is maintaining a low profile when one’s strength doesn’t match their reputation.

Besides, the Tree Spirit wishes to convey another message: Maya ended up returning to the Mirror World to live, suggesting that Dororo should also come back quickly. Only there can Dororo avoid persecution.

Though Angel understood the Tree Spirit’s intentions, he decided not to steer the conversation towards Dororo but softly sighed: ”I never expected Maya Witch to have such a past.”

”After all, in this world, every living creature is vibrant, becoming the protagonist on their timeline, forging ahead into the future. Only they know what they’ve gone through, whether joy or sorrow.” Perhaps floating above the dreamlike Fallen Star Sea made the Tree Spirit grow sentimental.

Angel smiled and remained silent, letting the topic fade into the wind before saying, ”Back then, Maya Witch couldn’t foresee her own calamity?”

The Tree Spirit replied, ”If everything could be foreseen, Maya Witch wouldn’t have been an apprentice then, but beyond a Legend.”

...

The Fallen Star Sea is indeed vast; they flew for two or three minutes without seeing the edge. However, they weren’t truly seeking its bounds. Upon reaching a certain point, the Tree Spirit abruptly adjusted his course, heading in another direction.

After flying for about a quarter of an hour, the Tree Spirit stopped.

In the distance, faintly visible low hills suggested the lake’s edge wasn’t far. Yet, directly below them remained the dazzling Star Sea.

At this Star Sea’s edge was a shadow. Upon close inspection, the shadow revealed a thick mist, within which was a vague sighting of an island.

”We’re here,” the Tree Spirit said softly.

In truth, Angel didn’t need the Tree Spirit’s confirmation; he felt it himself.

What appeared to be swirling mist was nearly actualized Nightmare Realm aura.

These incredibly dense Nightmare Realm aura emanated entirely from the island below, undoubtedly the legacy filled with Nightmare Realm creatures lay on the island.
