Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5295: Getting A Jab In?

”What’s wrong? You should have many more formation discs and be able to encompass every one of us in your suppression formation? The range also shouldn’t be this small. Don’t dare to unleash them all?”

First Dark Apostle Miraele’s dance never slowed. The eighteen jade discs flickered, died, and tried to live again under Grand Elder Yue Qing’s Core Heart Symphony. The former’s sleeves painted silver-black sigils in the void.

Each soul sigil was a small [NULL] that ate the Will trying to restart the formation.

The moonlight Grand Elder Yue Qing had called down struck First Dark Apostle Miraele full in the face but did nothing visible as it ended up twisting before disappearing. The faceless mask only tilted ever so lightly, and she set it back straight with a flick of her head.

Grand Elder Yue Qing’s lotus posture did not change nor did she respond.

She could absolutely envelop everyone and even millions in her formation and suppress the people she wanted, but in the end, the chances of it being broken or nullified dramatically increased. She could only focus it on this crazy witch.

Her fingers completed a second crescent and the discs stopped trying to form a sphere. They formed a cage instead, each disc a note, the whole thing a song that pressed cultivation downward.

First Dark Apostle Miraele’s laughter turned into an eerie giggle as her own energy stuttered like noise, although she still advanced.

With a flick of her hand, she summoned her runic soul force, which could be considered a sigil. She danced vaguely, yet her movements were beyond enigmatic and treacherous, seeking complacency and a complete stop to the workings of cause and effect.

Grand Elder Yue Qing’s moonlit song faltered for half a note when the shockwave hit her discs. First Dark Apostle Miraele’s next sigil landed inside that half-note. Three discs went dark and stayed dark, not even able to flicker again.

This allowed her to shot through the gap like a thrown needle, fingers aimed at Yue Qing’s empowered hand.

Grand Elder Yue Qing abandoned the lotus position as she strode back like she was riding the wind. Boundless Formation Laws erupted as a white-gold wall. The First Dark Apostle’s nullification ate a hole through it the size of a fist. Grand Elder Yue Qing’s other hand was already there, two fingers stabbing toward Miraele’s throat.

They missed each other by the width of a sleeve, passing by each other.

However, Grand Elder Yue Qing found herself stepping into a hidden nullification talisman that sprang into a cage. The formation discs instantly lost connection as they floated in the space, their glowing surface completely losing its light.

”Now!”

Davis sent his avatar into the fray as everyone momentarily converged towards Fairy Qiyra Darkstar. The avatar suddenly grabbed the Celestial Transcendent’s shoulder, flinging it aside towards the main body.

Davis swung his scythe, finally managing to draw blood, but his avatar exploded into a sorry mess when the Celestial Transcendent’s fist arrived from the side.

’Judgment Laws: Blood Pledge!’

The Celestial Transcendent instantly summoned Nether Glaze in his soul, but nothing passed through. Instead, his body exploded into a sorry mess similar to how the avatar exploded, half his torso exploding into a blood fountain as it revealed his ribs and organs. Flesh erupted from the front of the limbs, making the Celestial Transcendent’s expression twitch in pain.

”...!”

He hurriedly retreated while the others watched in shock, momentarily faltering.

”Bold of you to assume I will use the same technique that you have long countered.”

Davis collected the avatar and its remains into the Temporal Voidplane Ring. He used it to directly step into it and appear before the Zest Hyluan, using it to suppress him.

”Ha! Didn’t expect you to use blood instead of soul. It shouldn’t be working that way when karmic sin is involved... and most importantly, it shouldn’t be easy for you to improve this kind of technique so soon...”

The Celestial Transcendent spat out blood amusedly, his chaotic body hurriedly reforming.

”Indeed.” Davis uttered without turning to look back.

He had gone through hoops in order for the Judgment Laws to affect the blood first instead of the soul. After all, the karmic threads he used to fuel his judgment against others when they did him wrong were connected to the soul instead of the flesh. However, he had fought the Blood Realm Calamity. The way he had fought and was able to retain memories just from blood had given him many insights and was still useful to this day.

Furthermore, it was thanks to Schleya’s Blood Pledge Arts that he had read before, allowing him to tie karma to blood instead of souls, with the special aid of Ophirya Kaelis, whose karmic blood-stealing technique gave him an inspiration.

As he suppressed Zest Hyluan, who narrowed his eyes at him, Fairy Qiyra Darkstar had already started using the escape technique.

An astral platform appeared below her as she sprung above like a wind fairy. With her hand stretching above and her index finger pointed high, targeting an astral star in the distance again, black-white astral light surged from her again.

The way was suddenly clear.

It could be a trap leading them to an astral star, but Fairy Qiyra Darkstar paid them no heed.

The Frostcloud Sword Empress returned.

Her icy-blue robe was slightly bloodied, with a deep gash on her shoulder, but in the distance, Grand Elder Durandai appeared to have lost an arm, and the ancient sword in his other hand showed cracks, though it was slowly mending.

The First Dark Apostle had also returned only a second later, willingly jumping into the astral spatial ring with no hesitation when Fairy Qiyra Darkstar pulled her in. This rattled the latter, nearly making her want to throw her out as she knew the other party was just looking down on her, but then, she suddenly thought it should be trust the First Dark Apostle placed in the Fifth Dark Apostle Davis or the Leader of the Heavenly Blight Hall was overseeing this battle.

Davis and Zest Hyluan clashed, and the two of them retreated while Davis retreated towards Fairy Qiyra Darkstar.

Zest Hyluan was about to follow, but when the moment came, their fists connected, and a physical soul transmission fell in his head, causing him to pause momentarily.

”Follow us, but act as if you lost us. If you can do as I say for this matter, I will help you protect your granddaughter’s corpse. I, Davis Loret, am no liar, nor am I an essence devourer like those Supremes. Choose what you will.”

As he tried to comprehend the words and the intent behind them, he saw Davis transforming into a ray of light and entering the Astral Night Demoness’s spatial ring before she shot up like a ray of light shooting towards the skies.

He hurriedly tried to use Time Stop again, but flinched as though he was about to vomit blood.

Within ten seconds, more reinforcements appeared in the distance, and another avatar of the Celestial Transcendent also appeared, but the Astral Night Demoness had already breached past the encirclement and reached the stars, leaving them stranded.

It was not easy to reach a star quickly, as they were hung in space at extreme distances.

But with Zest Hyluan’s Teleportation, it was possible.

”A red burning star.” Grand Elder Yue Qing said, her expression solemn, ”That’s the Western Nightfall Flame Star that shines brightly during the night, illuminating a certain valley in the western region of the realm. There’s already a trapping formation placed there, so they should be trapped for a few minutes. Let’s move.”

Then she and everyone else turned to look at Zest Hyluan, making his gaze flicker with a strange light.
