Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5283: You Didn’t Say

”Exalted Grandmaster! This is serious! The Hexadra Clan has betrayed the human race and escaped into another galaxy. The remnants are fleeing for their lives. Hence, our contact with them has been severed forever and the remnants.”

”...”

For a moment, Exawelese Skylov couldn’t make sense of that statement as she saw her avian beast subordinates keel over one after another on the sleek, smooth emerald jade tile surface and report the matter.

The matter became more and more complex.

Realm Master Malzor Hexadra led the Hexadra Clan into a Galaxy Wormhole and had taken the side of the Hydra Galaxy. This was undoubtedly a betrayal towards the human race.

The Desolate Era had receded, bringing down the Golden Era.

She hadn’t even noticed the advent of the Golden Era since the phenomenon seemed not to be dangerous, unlike the Desolate Era’s, which scared her. Sure, she had noticed the Eternal Nightshade Moonflower growing significantly faster, but it didn’t mature. Hence, she felt it was merely a regional phenomenon, not a realm-wide phenomenon!

She was just trying to dupe Davis when she tried to state that the Golden Era had arrived.

What’s more, it seemed like it was a Divergent who was the reason for the onset of the Golden Era, making it even more unbelievable.

One unreasonable news after another made Exawelese Skylov take a staggering step back as she held her head, wondering if she was still sleeping and was having a delusional dream. She felt it was impossible considering she had powers to give nightmares to others.

”-that Divergent is said to be a Desolate Divergent, far stronger than an Anarchic Divergent. He had killed Peak Exalts like they were nothing and even fought our Greater Realm’s Supreme Ruler’s avatar to a standstill, although we are not sure of that rumor! We’re still investigating, but it is said that he was also the Divergent who was the reason for the Golden Era to dawn in this realm. His title- his title his-”

But as she listened to her subordinates, she heard a piece of information that made her heart pound.

”Hey- isn’t that-” One of the winged subordinates finally noticed.

The others also felt their hearts stop, their hawk-like eyes widening in disbelief the moment their pupils reflected Davis when they raised their heads to look up.

”Sapphire eyes...!’

”Blonde hair...!’

”Purple robes...!’

Their lips quivered, their voices echoing somewhere between a horrified mutter and an inward bellow. Their pupils dilated, recognizing the Divine Emperor of Death was still here instead of having left or still embroiled in a bedroom fight with an Exalt Grandmaster.

They were unsure before, but looking at him now, they were completely sure that he was the Divine Emperor of Death and not some fake.

Exawelese Skylov also went stiff, slowly turning to look around and saw him sipping tea nonchalantly, even swirling it with a shake before taking another sip and smilingly shaking his head.

”So have you decided to let me twist your fate according to my machinations?”

Davis calmly kept the teacup on the table and asked in a faint, ethereal tone.

”...”

While Exawelese Skylov felt dread, only Illumina looked at Davis in a speechless manner as she saw him quickly take a seat again and pose by grandly drinking tea. She had never seen such grace and elegance from him. It made him appear comparable to an exalted being from the celestial heavens from folklore and classic novels.

”Last chance. I’m taking the Eternal Nightshade Moonflower regardless of your decision.”

He kept the teacup on the plate, invoking a pleasant ceramic thud sound, and waved his hand, closing the doors to the palace with a huge thud, which nearly made Exawelese Skylov jump.

Exawelese Skylov looked like a spooked bird, her wings widened and shaky as though she was already ready to escape. Her arms and legs quivered while her head was affixed, her gaze anchored to Davis. Seeing that he didn’t attack or do anything, she forcefully calmed herself down.

”You- You didn’t tell me you were a Divergent.” She cast a forced smile at him.

”I did say I was the Divine Emperor of Death.” Davis said with a chuckle before turning to look at Illumina, ”I mean, who doesn’t know the Divine Emperor of Death, right?”

Illumina hurriedly nodded.

”You-” Exawelese Skylov was incensed and embarrassed.

”I wish the world would forget me so I can live peacefully, but something that convenient wouldn’t happen. Also, it’s your fault for sleeping through the Desolate Era instead of going to help with the war efforts against the Hydra Galaxy, and you refused to go out even with the advent of the Golden Era...”

”You- you- you...!”

Exawelese Skylov’s cheeks turned red in shame.

Magical beasts tended to sleep a lot to cultivate! Even if they woke up, they would still feel sleepy, so they could quickly go back to sleep again after a quick meal. More importantly, magical beasts at her level, if they went out and made a move, it would change the colors of the skies and affect the lives of so many people, attracting authorities and trouble.

Who had time for all of that?

She didn’t want to go out and make a scene.

It wasn’t her fault!

”Alright, don’t be ashamed. At least, you didn’t go out to slaughter and store livestock like all those other wild magical beasts. So tell me, if you still want to continue with our deal or not. My time is rather tight.”

Davis stood up and stretched his limbs before smirking, ”I have to escape from this realm before the Celestial Transcendent, after all.”

”...” Exawelese Skylov’s pupils shook.

She could only imagine how strong this ’mere’ Empyrean was now that she learned that he was something even greater than an Anarchic Divergent. However, to tie her fate to someone even remotely dangerous like that...

Her hands slowly clenched into a determined fist.

======

Half a day later, Davis and Illumina were already on his way back to the new rendezvous point as he reconnected with his avatar. He couldn’t help but jump wildly in joy as he learned of the resources they had all gathered, not to mention everyone was safe at the moment.

All he had to do was join up, and then leave the realm.

He couldn’t wait to get back.

”Wait- am I forgetting something...?” Davis suddenly asked himself, only to remember the cultivator who got trapped in an illusory secret realm.
