Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5254: Intimidating The Hydra Upper Realm’s Powers

Seeing the scene below, the Celestial Transcendent sighed lightly.

The ancestors of the major powers were quickly subdued.

There is no way the ancestors would make a mistake like not being aware of Jaiyan’s threat, whose powers were known to suppress Heaven’s Warriors and even go against the heavens themselves.

However, he could tell that this brat had used that strange karmic distraction technique that caused them to solely focus on him when he revealed his threat.

This ’misdirection’ nearly cost them their lives, but he knew that there had been no hostility behind Davis’s strikes either. Otherwise, these old ancestors wouldn’t have engaged the Divine Emperor of Death together, much less missed that there was another near-layer limit expert waiting to ambush them.

The Divine Emperor of Death was rendering their time-grown shrewdness useless with his own battle strategies.

He then watched the Divine Emperor of Death make a fool out of every other person in the vicinity while leaving them in a state of abject terror since he threatened them with no reincarnation should they retaliate against him later on, which he was directly warning them about the consequences of messing with his family.

He couldn’t help but chuckle since he knew that although immortals were not afraid of death, they were afraid of not reincarnating.

The human race’s culture was always precise about the existence of the reincarnation cycle and even celebrated its existence with a lot of festivals, so belief in reincarnation was heavy even among mortals, much less immortals who knew they would reincarnate if they earned enough karmic virtue although Empyreans and Autarchs and above would have to struggle harder for it since they would need to set up their own method to reincarnate or get themselves wiped out to a clear slate or dealt with in other myriad of ways the Reincarnation Dimension was capable of.

For the Divine Emperor of Death, whose ability to control life and death was infamous, and by erudite logic, possessing the reincarnation soul physique was already known by the major powers, so they didn’t doubt he was uttering empty words.

Even the old decrepit ancestors who were half a step away from death just stood in the air headless with their heads in their arms, not daring to take a step forward or even place it over their necks lest they attract unwanted attention from the Divine Emperor of Death again.

The Celestial Transcendent knew that these old undying children had long made peace with their deaths, decided to stay back to protect their powers, abandoned all hopes of breakthrough as they disregarded whatever remaining potential they had, and had thoroughly prepared for their reincarnation with an unknown likelihood of retaining their memories after reincarnation since that matter would be dealt with by the Reincarnation Dimension.

Even if they do get to reincarnate, they might not necessarily have or even be able to retrieve their memories.

But that was a gamble that they were willing to take.

However, with the Divine Emperor of Death denying even that, they were frozen with fear even though their expressions didn’t show such emotion. Instead, they looked as angry as a demon, watching the Divine Emperor of Death slice through their powers like they were vegetables on the cutting board.

After what seemed to be a long time, silence engulfed the battlefield.

Heads drifted through the air with unnatural serenity, many pairs of eyes still looking around while armless bodies remained standing where they had been. Severed limbs floated amidst the chaotic currents of spatial energy like leaves caught in a gentle breeze instead of remnants of a bloody massacre.

There was not a single drop of blood.

Not many understood what they were witnessing, but they sure understood one thing.

As long as they didn’t move, they wouldn’t lose more of their limbs.

As long as they kept their mouth shut, they wouldn’t lose their heads.

Some brave ones tried to circulate their energy, but strange black-azure scythe intent left over their severed locations made it hard to summon energy out. It didn’t harm them, but it didn’t allow them to fight properly either, as their circulation slowed down as though it was passing through a swamp instead of clear vessels. It was entirely rigid as though they had been petrified.

But it was fine. Only their heads or limbs were severed.

However, if they tried to use their energy, their entire body would get severed, torso drifting in the spatial currents, so they didn’t want to fight anymore.

At this point, they just wished the Divine Emperor of Death would take the treasure and leave.

The Divine Emperor of Death stood in the air, facing the five leaders of the powers that had laid claim to the Voidheart Astral Orchid.

Each had lost an arm or a leg, their faces unsightly.

They finally felt reality, knowing it wasn’t a fluke that he won against the Celestial Transcendent, but honestly, it wasn’t even a day, so after exhausting himself battling the Celestial Transcendent, where underneath the heavens was he getting the energy from?

More than his health, they wondered how his replica still had energy to spare.

Unfortunately for them, they had severely underestimated the restorative properties and the intent of the heavenly life tribulation that had restored Davis’s health and even his psyche. As for his replicas, they nearly had a endless supply of energy since he had collected a lot of soul essences.

It wasn’t difficult to refine them. They did it by their own.

On another note, he still felt tired, but that was for learning what the Sky Word Emperor left behind.

He absolutely had no intention to show those new techniques here, instead choosing to derive techniques of his own as that came to him like he was just waving his arm.

He inwardly nodded. After all, he had gained a lot with this battle.

Fortunately, the insights he had this day hadn’t eluded him yet. The feeling of reaping the Desolate Era and harvesting the Golden Era was still fresh in his mind. He continued battling, but his main body sat down and started comprehending Level Two Obscure Intent of Phyletic Laws of Scythe. Since it wasn’t a sudden realization, it wouldn’t be quick, but he felt it would take no more than two or three hours to see the result. Still, he was confident and felt it was only a matter of time before he succeeded.

Davis placed Yama over his shoulder, appearing completely friendly, ”Fellow cultivators, I have counted. For each limb and each head you want restored, you need to pay up a good price for the medical fees. If you refuse to do so, then don’t blame me for leaving you all like this. The next day, someone looking to snatch your position will make their move, and you will be left blindsided and thrown into the trash bin of the abandoned courtyard. When that time comes, I fear I may have unintentionally harmed you then...!”

The Abyssal Radiance Empire’s Emperor and the other felt their faces turn green.

If he wants to steal, why not just demand reparations!? Why did he have to make it seem like he was a Saint who was healing them instead and advising them for their own good?

They have heard about the Divine Emperor of Death’s reasonable nature, but they never saw him as a fellow ’righteous’ cultivator.

However, the two spies were different.

The Grayscale Poison Hound Clan’s Patriarch took the lead, his eyes flashing with a shrewd glint, but his expression was one of fear, ”My humble clan will pay the medical fees. We can’t afford to offend an Anarchic Divergent. My apologies, Divine Emperor of Death. We were blinded by greed when we saw the World Hegemon Grade Treasure.”

The Blackcurse Voidfang Eel Clan Patriarch’s expression stiffened upon looking at his partner in this battle and also a fellow spy.

His expression quivered before he also turned to look at the Divine Emperor of Death with resignation, blood even dripping from his lips as though he had swallowed this humiliation and had an internal injury.

”My Blackcurse Voidfang Eel Clan was also blind. Please don’t take offense. We are... willing... to pay.”

Davis raised his brows before laughing, ”Good, good! What about the others?”

He panned his gaze at the other three powers.

”Very well. We’ll pay since we lost.” The Abyssal Radiance Empire’s Emperor gritted his teeth, still trying to maintain the bearing of an Emperor.

Davis wanted to teach him a lesson, but that wouldn’t do.

He had more treasures to collect to make up for the time the main body was using up, but dealing with a top Realm Master candidate’s power wasn’t good. It would come to bite the Davis Family later should they end up living in the realm.

If anything, he wanted his son Azariel to make this powerful Emperor kneel.

He left one delicacy for his son to grow further.

If he got rid of the board, how could his son or the future Realm Master have the opportunity to grow into a full-fledged member of the Davis Family who could actually take over the family in his stead when he wasn’t present?

The Gale Burial Pavilion and the Zephyros Family also promised reparations, the latter even fawning slightly.

To look at a noble bloodline family descended from a spirit bloodline, it left Davis a bit speechless.

He had Heart Intent active, so he knew they weren’t at least lying, but nothing was always set in stone when it came to matters of the heart. The heart was a fickle thing. Unless they were firm, they could change their minds anytime.

”Good, good!” Still, Davis was satisfied with the result.

He waved them off and turned around to see Jaiyan finish harvesting the treasure and store it safely. Clearly, he was knowledgeable, experienced, and dependable as a senior brother.

The latter gave it to Davis to keep in the Temporal Voidplane Ring.

Davis took it with a word of thanks, and the two of them rode off the clouds before disappearing as they stepped into a spatial gate and left.

When Davis left, his voice echoed, ”The scythe intent will be gone in a few days. No need to thank me.”

*Pui!~*

The Abyssal Radiance Empire’s Emperor trembled heavily before he coughed out a mouthful of blood in anger.

The others barely managed to suppress themselves from cursing out loud, but the old ancestors who were more powerful knew that the brat had retracted his scythe intent and only meant to mock them, but even then, it still took a few days for this remnant intent to disappear?

Just how strong was it!?

Fortunately, they were stronger, so they quickly managed to dissolve it and put their heads back in place, allowing the flesh to regenerate and the scars to mend.

They sullenly sent word to their powers’ leaders.

”Send word. Do not offend the Divine Emperor of Death. Let the Supreme One deal with him. We’ll focus all our efforts on-”

”-winning the realm.”

”-choosing the right ruling power.”

They each had different agendas as they knew of their own strength and position, but they were united in one thing.

”But it is clear the World Hegemon Grade treasures are maturing everywhere. Let’s look for them and get them before the others can!”

And thus, the race to obtain the World Hegemon Grade Treasures began, but it was uncertain if they could be faster than Davis, who had the map to nearly all the World Hegemon Grade treasures in the realm.
