Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5281: Spirit-Devouring Method

”No, it doesn’t.”

Exawelese Skylov shook her head faintly, her lips curling in amusement.

”Spirits are, in essence, the same as manifestations of Laws, so they’re similar to Quintessence Orbs. What they would help with is absorbing and imprinting the Laws necessary for them to become a True Exalt Beast, so they substitute the need for King-Tier and Emperor-Tier Beast Cores. They do not help in the completion of Core Refinement. Hence, one would still need to hunt other beasts of the same species using the Cannibalistic Method.”

”Three of them are needed, like the Quintessence Orbs, since it works on the same principle. However, if one can obtain their Spirit Core, which unfortunately not all spirits have from birth and need to be cultivated or luckily inherited from their parents as a Seed Crystal and nurtured, then it would greatly help in Core Refinement since Spirit Cores are basically sources of soul power.”

”I see.”

Davis finally understood why Iesha, Eldia, and Pia would have Spirit Cores and most other spirits would not.

Iesha and Pia were both of royal origins in the lower realms of the First Haven World, and they had parents who probably had Spirit Cores, allowing them to inherit the Seed Crystal.

But like the human talent grading system of observing the Spirit Root, Spirit Blood, and Spirit Essence, such things couldn’t be observed when being a mortal human or mortal spirit. Hence, they had been unaware of this knowledge.

However, by the time he got to be an Empyrean, he knew Eldia particularly had an Immaculate Spirit Core after he checked her with concern since she connected with a dangerous Astral Star. Nonetheless, the Immaculate Spirit Core allowed her to mutate more than any other spirit. This was mainly due to the heavenly tribulation’s mess, which repeatedly struck her, mutated her, and she took the time to refine it with heavenly lightning, making her Spirit Core immaculate and pure over time.

He then couldn’t help but ask, ”What about Immaculate Spirit Cores?”

”...” Exawelese Skylov blinked, ”Such things don’t exist in the Exalt Stage and above.”

”Oh...”

”As far as I know, Immaculate Beast Cores and Immaculate Spirit Cores end in Great Saint Magical Beast Rank and Heaven-Tier Spirit Grade. Hence, after they luckily step into Grand Ancestral Magical Beast Rank and Heaven-Tier Empyrean Grade, their cores lose their immaculate status, and mutation or evolution simply becomes too difficult like the rest of the race.”

”...”

Davis was a bit confused.

His Eldia still retained the Immaculate Spirit Core. She had undergone so many mutations, and right now, he would grade her a Heaven-Tier Empyrean Grade or even Celestial Tier Spirit, so why did she still possess the Immaculate Spirit Core?

Davis suppressed his curiosity and didn’t expose this matter and nodded, accepting the generality.

Exawelese Skylov smiled at his ignorance and continued, ”However, this is strictly speaking about Heaven-Tier Empyrean Grade Spirits. One Celestial Spirit of the same attribute and property is enough to make a True Exalt Beast. You wouldn’t even need a Spirit Core since Celestial Tier Spirits are greater sources of soul power. Their spirit-soul essence is alone enough to qualify for Core Refinement.”

”...” Davis was about to shout that it was so easy, but hearing that it was one Celestial Spirit of the same attribute and property, he gave up.

He might be able to have a better chance of finding a heavenly resource of a Supreme Law instead.

”Haha~”

Seeing his blank expression, Exawelese Skylov raised her hand to hide her face and laughed lightly.

”Indeed, Celestial Spirits are almost as rare as finding Paragon Magical Beasts, and when their attributes and properties are taken into account, one could forget about this matter unless the universe’s luck has gathered onto them. I, Exawelese Skylov, am unlucky, so I don’t think I can find a Celestial Spirit of my nature! How unfair...!”

She spoke melodiously until she remembered her own situation and snapped suddenly, nearly spilling the half-filled teacup.

Illumina turned speechless while Davis was deep in thought.

”Hehem~”

Exawelese Skylov returned to being a calm lady and acted as though nothing had happened.

Instead, she gazed at Davis, wondering what he was thinking.

She didn’t look down on Davis for not knowing all these things. An Empyrean wasn’t supposed to know all these things. She only doubted why he knew half the matter and already had insights of his own.

An old monster? A reincarnator who forgot half his memories?

She knew some planned their reincarnation in a grand way, using their sect or their background to inform all the major powers in the reincarnation location. Their power would tell them to stay clear, openly carving the path ahead for their reincarnator, and let the minor and unwanted powers offend and get slaughtered by the reincarnator as a way to experience life and temper themselves.

Such things occasionally happened in the Greater Realm, but wasn’t this considered illegal in the Upper Realms and Lower Realms?

It made a bit of sense to think he was a reincarnator considering he had a True Exalt Beast by his side, a nether-attributed magical beast at that. Surely, he had been a powerful True Deity or World Hegemon in his past life, no? But then, his luck in getting the rabbit pregnant didn’t make sense for a reincarnator since they would have their trials and tribulations sanctioned by the unknown or simply fate... unless he was practicing the tiger’s lucky yang path of the White Auspicious Tiger, a Grand Ancestral Rank Magical Beast.

It also made sense as to why he would exude such manliness, but she still didn’t sense any yang energy from him, leaving her utterly confused.

”What if I were to hunt just one Heaven-Tier Empyrean Spirit at the Archon Stage? Would that suffice?”

”Eek...”

Exawelese Skylov nearly squealed from the sudden question, ”Suffice... it would greatly suffice... The soul power they possess at the Archon Stage is simply as vast as the skies, capable of overturning weather and the landscape. Even in the Exalt Stage, it depends on how these spirits are cultivated, since they could cultivate the Spirit Core through creating a Divine Crown, which you humans imitated to create the Godskull and invented the path of Divine Exalt.”

”Divine Crown...” Davis murmured softly, wanting to know more, but Exawelese Skylov continued.

”In fact, a True Exalt Paragon Magical Beast would hunt down a Heaven-Tier Empyrean Spirit at the Early Archon Stage to aid their breakthrough into Primal Exalt Beast Stage after reaching Emperor-Tier in rank, even if just for that period. It’s simply a rite of passage for them.”

Davis chuckled faintly, ”So it would be an overkill for me to do so for just True Exalt Beast Stage.”

”Y-yes...”

Exawelese Skylov suddenly found herself at a loss and a bit fearful.

Just what kind of existence was she dealing with here? Did he have a background that would shake a part of the Greater Realms if they were to know about it?

A Greater Realm was simply vast beyond imagination. Even with a population in the sextillions, the population density was still less, with many areas simply abandoned, not because it was dangerous, but because there was simply room for far too many.

”So for a Grand Ancestral Rank Magical Beast to reach Primal Exalt Beast Stage, I would require double or triple the resources of similar type and Mythical Tier Bloodline?”

”...?”

Exawelese Skylov looked troubled, ”Yes...?”

”Alright.”

Davis understood that she didn’t know. He didn’t put her in a spot and continued, ”So is that all the methods you know, or is there something more? If not, we’ll move on to how to achieve Dynastic Realm Beast Stage since that would allow me to help you better.”
