Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5278: A High Stage Empyrean

Davis stood, gently helped Illumina to her feet, then lifted her into a princess carry. Together they made their way toward the exit of the underground chamber.

The path leading outward was narrow at first.

Soft residual spiritual light still clung to the stone walls, casting a faint silver glow that slowly faded as they walked. The air grew cooler and cleaner with every step, carrying the distant scent of damp earth and fresh water. Tiny patches of luminous moss dotted the ceiling and walls, giving off a gentle blue-green radiance that made the passage feel quiet and peaceful. Their footsteps echoed softly against the stone, the only sound besides the faint whisper of a breeze beginning to reach them from ahead.

The tunnel gradually widened, and natural light began filtering in through distant openings, and the heavy stillness of the underground gave way to a fresher, more open atmosphere. Soon the sound of gently flowing water drifted toward them.

Just beyond the entrance of the cave, they came upon a secluded spring nestled in a small natural grotto.

Clear, pure water filled a smooth basin of pale stone, so transparent that the fine white sand and rounded pebbles at the bottom were easily visible. The spring was calm and inviting, the water reaching to about waist height. Delicate strands of soft water grass swayed along the edges, releasing occasional tiny bubbles that sparkled in the light.

A thin, gentle mist rose from the surface where warmer currents met the cooler air, giving the entire spring a soft, dreamy haze. Smooth rocks of various sizes lined the banks, some flat and perfect for sitting, others curved naturally. Small clusters of pale blue and silver spirit flowers of the Immortal Emperor Grade grew between the stones, their faint, clean fragrance mixing with the fresh scent of the water.

High above, a natural opening in the rock let filtered sunlight stream down, making the surface of the spring shimmer like liquid crystal.

Davis stepped into the cool water first, then helped Illumina in, gently placing her in the water. The pure spring water washed over them, refreshing and gentle. They took their time there, soft smiles and quiet words passing between them as they cleaned away the traces of their earlier cultivation session and simply enjoyed the peaceful moment together.

After what seemed to be a long time, they exited, fully dressed up.

Clad in luxurious purple robes, Davis rose to the skies with Illumina by his side. She was clad in dark blue robes, her previous soft and submissive intent nowhere to be seen as she switched back to being a warrior again. The mating heat had already left her body, but she wasn’t embarrassed at all.

Naturally, Davis didn’t make fun of her for it, as Illumina was a serious person who took things seriously. If it weren’t for the heat that muddled her mind, he wouldn’t have said all those things about apologizing to Aila either, since that was just his way of getting her into the mood. After all, he found out that Illumina was clearly obedient in bed, although her bloodline demanded that she drain him, drain at least half his life to fuel the growth of the progeny.

Nether beasts naturally suffered from pregnancy issues since the nether attribute made things worse. The natural nourishment a woman can bestow to her child in the gestation period was slashed by more than half for a nether beast, so they needed to replenish through other ways, and that was naturally through draining their partner. They were still yin beasts, so they didn’t go as far as to kill their partners like an arachnid would.

Illumina had already collected his yang essence and stored it for this very purpose. She would use her bodily yin to refine it and pass it down to her progeny, so there was no need for her to drain more of Davis and his cultivation.

*Skreee!~*

In the skies, a roc descended from the clouds, appearing before them.

Maintaining a good distance, Exawelese Skylov gave them a complicated look.

”...”

Davis also gazed back at her, resuming his Heart Intent. He couldn’t help but look amused.

By this time, it would make sense for her to learn that he was the Divine Emperor of Death, an Anarchic Divergent, and panic or flee. However, she exuded complicated emotions of envy. It was not only interesting to him but also peculiar.

”What’s wrong?” He asked in a clear tone.

Davis’s gentle voice was always pleasant to hear; his voice was smooth and calming, even having a subtle influence of mesmerizing the people around him, and when he spoke in a serious and solemn tone, it would become unusually deep, instantly putting the others who wanted to be seen favorably on their best behavior.

As a man blessed with good-looking, handsome genes from his parents, and a prowess that was far above supreme geniuses, he rarely ever lacked attention from the opposite sex, even supreme geniuses or even beasts for that matter.

Hence, it was also rare for him to sense such envious hate from the opposite sex.

After recognizing the human reached Level Seven Empyrean Stage, Exawelese Skylov had been keenly gazing at Illumina, recognizing that she had become pregnant since the yin grew sporadically to a fault, not to mention she gave off a slightly different scent.

She couldn’t believe it. How many Empyrean humans could get a True Exalt Beast pregnant on the first night? Not to mention the racial difference, the chance at succeeding in high cultivation bases was simply null. Wasn’t this ridiculous? What the hell was she witnessing?

When Davis asked her what was wrong, she turned to look at him and gritted her beak.

”You’re a human man of overbearing Yang, and she’s a beastly woman of swallowing Yin. The moment Yang yields even a single step, Yin advances a thousand, and when Yin lowers her head in perfect obedience, Yang swells into tyranny, claiming heaven and earth as his alone. This is the eternal law the ancients whispered, yet few have the courage to accept. It’s hard to see the likes of you two being together in harmony, much less have children. It’s extremely unbelievable.”

As she uttered, she saw Illumina’s expression change, causing her to flap her wings.

”Ah, I didn’t mean to offend. I’m just stating how romantic it is for you two to be together... meanwhile, I have lived for millions of years and I still don’t have anyone who I can fully trust since all those stinky men beasts at the higher stages are all overbearing. This is... unfair. The heavens are unfair...! Mmph, I’m going to want you to pay me more.”

She flailed as though throwing a tantrum, causing Davis and Illumina to turn speechless.

They gazed into each other’s eyes and certainly noticed the agreement. The two of them having a child could be said to be a miracle. If they didn’t know better, they would have no other way than to call it a heaven-sent blessing.

So they could understand Exawelese Skylov’s frustration. Not only was she explaining the unfairness of the expectations she had for her Law Companion, their compatibility and the way of life at the higher stages, she was also complaining about their luck to instantly have a child.

It would make any person who has lived for millions of years and is looking for a suitable Law Companion feel filled with envy. It was already very good that Exawelese Skylov wasn’t using this chance to swat them like they were flies because they were undoubtedly an eyesore to her. If it were any other beast with no restraint, they might’ve lost their minds.

Particularly, Illumina had openly signaled her pregnancy, taking pride and joy in it. She was clearly showing off to the roc instead of suppressing it since a magical beast’s pregnancy period was exactly the time when they were at their weakest, their prowess instantly destabilizing by nearly half and steadily decreasing until even their cultivation might be affected when they were on the verge of giving birth, so it was no wonder Exawelese Skylov would be pissed.

It was a direct provocation.

Nonetheless, while she carried envious hate against Illumina, it was still one of restrained respect towards him.

Davis narcissistically raised his hand and stroked his chin.

”You speak your mind, alright. That’s good.”

He had little to no idea as to what made her think he was overbearing Yang, as he didn’t practice yang like Drake did, but sure enough, it just made sense that he was that handsome!
