Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2993  Attempted

*Boom!~*

The Starlight Jade Wolf Kingʼs heaving body flinched before he retreated, the place he had been standing exploding into a mushroom of scarlet flames. The intense phoenix flames scorched the ground and completely evaporated the spirit water flowing through the waterways.

*Whoosh!~*

”Tch~”

The Starlight Jade Wolf King clicked his tongue as he watched the soul of the Fire Phoenix Clanʼs Ancestor make some distance between them as he retreated like him. The Ethereal Soulcleaver, famed for its ability to obliterate souls, didnʼt work on him. Or rather-

ʼMy strength wasnʼt up to par…ʼ

The Starlight Jade Wolf King growled. He knew he shouldʼve launched another attack, but the backlash from sacrificing the blood essence made him stiff for a second, allowing his opponent to retreat. Still, the next moment, he stomped his foot into the empty space and launched himself at the escaping soul.

However, his path was suddenly obstructed by a scarlet wall of flames emerging, causing him to come to a stop. He hadnʼt even circulated enough energy into the Ethereal Soulcleaver to cleave past this wall, causing him to release a wild growl as he turned to look in the other direction.

The First Ancestor and Second Ancestor were rapidly chasing the other Ancestor, who was quick on his legs and retreated along with the escaping soul. That one second was enough for the Starlight Jade Wolf King to be never able to reach his opponents, so he instantly sent his Ancestors the order to regroup.

Within a few seconds, the First and Second Ancestors arrived back.

However, the scarlet wall of flames was still present, blazing and powerful as it seared the space.

The Starlight Jade Wolf King slashed the wide wall of flames with the Ethereal Soulcleaver, causing it to finally disappear, but when he looked into the distance, he saw that there was no sign of the two Ancestors of the Fire Phoenix Clan.

”Curses. We got company…”

He didnʼt even get a moment of rest before the First Ancestor and the others sensed a Vacuous Beast spawning right in their Prefecture. Level Seven Immortal Emperor undulations flared like the Vacuous Beast stated that it was present for all the lifeforms in its vicinity, either attracting food or causing the food to run away.

”Iʼll go take care of it.”

But since it was far away, the First Ancestor went alone in the southern direction.

The Starlight Jade Wolf King narrowed his eyes, but he wasnʼt worried as, at least, they wouldnʼt encounter any opponents in that direction since the Fire Phoenix Clan attacked from the north.

He returned to the palace and wobbled ever so lightly, stabbing the giant sword into the palaceʼs surface for support. Gritting his teeth, he inwardly cursed himself for being weak. After all, he had to sacrifice thirty percent of his blood essence for that one move, imbuing most of his energy into the Ethereal Soulcleaver to deal a fatal blow.

”Patriarch!”

”Fenren…”

Many women swarmed toward him, each of them powerful, some even Immortal Emperors. However, they were all shocked as they saw Renfa Jadelight rush toward him to support him.

”Why would you be so hasty…?”

She berated him with a worried voice, her jade light energy flooding out to heal him, although it didnʼt provide him any comfort, causing Renfa Jadelight to bite her lips. The other women in his harem, the Immortal Emperor women, did the same.

They were Grand Elder-level characters, but due to their position, they were not Grand Elders. However, even they saw that their light energy when healing was not of much use.

”You… you should be careful!”

One of the women appeared to become emotional as she became teary-eyed. The others also realized that this was a future-ending move on his part as he sacrificed a large portion of his blood essence in a move.

To magical beasts, that was fatal. It wouldnʼt cause their bloodline to regress but would limit their potential to reach the next stage, even the Mid Immortal Emperor Stage.

But despite their worried utterances, the Starlight Jade Wolf King appeared unworried as he waved off their healing light.

”Why do I need to care when I know thereʼs a sworn brother whoʼll heal me back within an instant?”

”You… you fool… itʼs not an instant…”

Davis gawked, ”I will heal you even if you donʼt want to live, idiot, so donʼt blame me if youʼre afflicted with an immense amount of karmic burden every time I help you.”

”Aye. You revived my woman and-”

The Starlight Jade Wolf King sent a soul transmission before opening his mouth, ”Iʼm already in cahoots with you, so I think our fate is pretty much screwed with lots and lots of karmic burden hanging over us. Ahahaa!”

”…”

Davis could only smilingly shake his head. He was quite joyous that his sworn brotherʼs attitude towards him didnʼt change that much. Even if some hard feelings remained, they both knew that dwelling over them wouldnʼt be good for them as they never meant harm to each other.

He walked over to his sworn brother and raised his head, life energy surging from his palms as it fell over him.

”…!”

The others turned shocked as they saw the Emperor of Death use life energy, finally understanding that the elders were not kidding when they said he truly possessed both life and death energy. Their eyes flashed with curiosity.

But this time, the Starlight Jade Wolf King gawked.

He felt as though he was encased by the warm water in a hot spring, his entire body feeling revived while being bathed in life energy. Moreover, not only was his sore and exhausted body recovering, but his blood essence was also rapidly regenerating that he couldnʼt believe his own senses.

Although he said it would only be an instant, he really didnʼt mean it and thought it would take days, only using it as a form of praise, but now, he was shocked to sense that it might not even take an hour to restore his blood essence.

But after disbelief came acceptance.

He didnʼt know if such beings existed in the true immortal world, but he knew his sworn brother was really one of a kind in the First Haven World. There was no equal to him in both prowess and the Laws. Even if one excluded life and death, the fact that his physical body is mindbogglingly strong, in addition to being able to use heavenly lightning, fire, and wind, was not something even achievable in his mind.

He felt lucky, grateful, satisfied, honored, and even… pious?

”Yeah, the life energy makes one think like that...”

”…!”

The Starlight Jade Wolf Kingʼs cheeks became red, ”Fuck off!”

”Ahaha~”

Davis laughed but kept healing while the Starlight Jade Wolf King also calmed, not letting the life energy influence his emotions.

”…?”

Meanwhile, the ladies couldnʼt tell if they were fighting or being friendly.

Nonetheless, the First Ancestor quickly returned after taking care of a Vacuous Beast, but as soon as he came, he was gone again. The Second Ancestor also went out. Before long, they both came back, and the situation stopped being not so alarming.

Davis finished restoring the Starlight Jade Wolf Kingʼs blood essence in twenty-five minutes.

Every five minutes, he connected with Evelynn so he knew they were safe. He even contemplated how to fucking massacre the Fire Phoenix Clan for their clear message to him. However, he was confused, and so were the others, as the atmosphere throughout the world had become silent.

They even stopped receiving news from other powers.

Did the Vacuous Beasts attacks stop…?
