Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2958 Sealed Inside The Legacy Treasure

Despite being sealed in the Nine-Phoenix Locking Relic, Davis kept his calm.

There was not a ripple of fear in his sapphire eyes as he gazed at Patriarch Killian Zenflame, causing the other party who was cackling to have his smile fade away before he harrumphed.

”Youʼre even more arrogant than the heavens to go against it. So I suppose that thereʼs no point in trying to see you sink in despair as I will be the one having a hard time.”

He stood up, smiling again, ”However, with you captured, I imagine all kinds of torture to perform on you. Tell me. What kind would you like? Burning in nether flames that even phoenixes suffer in? Or perhaps, do you want to feel your limbs were torn apart one by one as you keep healing yourself with life energy endlessly? After all, arenʼt you a Saint? Pfftt!~”

He burst out laughing and bent, appearing to laugh silently without placing no defenses in between them whatsoever. It was as though he was provoking him to attack, but Davis still remained unmoving, simply staring at Patriarch Killian Zenflame, who then raised his head and smirked at him.

”Ah, just imagining these things makes me feel all the crap I experienced from others is worth it!”

Patriarch Killian Zenflame waved his hand, appearing content.

”You have a lot to say, huh?” Davis turned around to look again as though searching for an exit.

”Sigh.” Patriarch Killian Zenflame looked at Davis with a pitiful gaze, ”Youʼre quite the foolish emperor to approach me, arenʼt you? Did you think you could kill me even if an opportunity was created? The Starlight Jade Wolf Clanʼs Ancestor must be crying in the reincarnation cycle right about now because his sacrifice must be in vain.”

He shook his head, suddenly widening his lips.

”Arenʼt you interested in knowing how I sealed you?”

Davis turned to look at Patriarch Killian Zenflame again, ”Well, I donʼt see how I can exit this sealing artifact, but I guess it must come with a few special conditions since you didnʼt use it on me immediately.”

”Thatʼs right!” Patriarch Killian Zenflameʼs expression lit up.

”The Nine-Phoenix Locking Relic is a sealing artifact crafted from a rare celestial metal infused with the blood essence of the nine high and mighty Late Stage Immortal Emperor Phoenixes, symbolizing rebirth, purity, and eternal life. Its form took shape as a scarlet pearl adorned with intricate engravings depicting the nine phoenixes in flight, their feathers aflame with nirvanic and karmic power. Yes, these nine phoenixes here arenʼt just for adornment.”

As Patriarch Killian Zenflame spoke ardently, Davis turned to look around at the nine statues present around him. Each statue was carved in a pose where the phoenix stretched the wings, so he instantly assumed he was sealed and couldnʼt get out of this artifact no matter what he tried.

”They are here to seal our enemies. Their might is so strong that even a Peak Immortal Emperor would find it difficult not to get sealed in it if they come at the user with full murderous intentions, much less escape from it.”

Patriarch Killian Zenflame chuckled, ”Wonʼt you try escaping? Show how you struggle. Otherwise, sealing you has little meani- ah! I understand. Have you gone stiff from fear? Thatʼs understandable, considering that there is no one left to protect your anymore.”

”And? You still havenʼt explained how this artifact works.”

As he cockily looked at Davis, the latter raised one of his brows as though this situation had nothing to do with him.

It almost caused a vein to erupt in Patriarch Killian Zenflameʼs face, making him wonder if this so-called Emperor of Death could also sever his own emotions.

Nonetheless, he shook his head.

”You still havenʼt figured that out? You really are a fool.”

”What is this?” Patriarch Killian Zenflame mocked Davis and spread his hands, his smile growing fond, ”This is a majestic phoenix artifact that wouldnʼt deign to harm anyone out of pure love for the myriad of lives. Therefore, it could only seal something that approaches the user with murderous intent. The greater the murderous intent, the easier you would be sealed along with the user because this also works as a defensive artifact, defending any attacks unleashed against the user with hundred percent accuracy, even if it an attack to the soul.”

”…”

Davis raised his brows as he blinked.

Such a passive artifact… he was impressed with its requirements to seal a person, making him understand that this legacy treasure was made with the intent that descendants could not abuse it to harm other people. At the same time, he knew this kind of karmic condition placed on it would only make it grow stronger, making this High-Level Immortal Emperor Grade Artifact even capable of sealing Peak Immortal Emperors.

The Fire Phoenix Clanʼs Legacy Treasure was truly scary. Even after looking around, he still couldnʼt see how he could escape this artifact without using Fallen Heaven on Patriarch Killian Zenflame to control him and have him release him.

”I can go out anytime, but you cannot. Youʼre fated to die here as long as youʼre sealed for a few thousand years because thereʼs no heaven and earth energy here. If I made you exhaust your energy and starve, then you wouldnʼt even last a hundred years.”

”Why wait that long when we can end it now?” Davis shook his head with a sigh.

”Tch~” Patriarch Killian Zenflame clicked his tongue, appearing unamused.

”I see you arenʼt bothered about your life. But what about the women you are so passionate about?”

”…” Davisʼs eyes narrowed into two tiny slits, killing intent seeping out of his eyes.

The moment Patriarch Killian Zenflame saw that his lips curled wide, his face blossomed into a hideous smile.

”Even though your wives are all powerful, theyʼre still nothing in front of the Fire Phoenix Clan. With you in my hands, I can manipulate them to my will, except the Earth Dragon Clanʼs Inheritor, who will most likely be protected. Regardless, I can see it. They will even agree to be with me in bed… all in order to save you. Hehehehe~”

Patriarch Killian Zenflame began to cackle as he pointed at Davis. His intentions to mock and provoke didnʼt go unseen, but Davisʼs clenched fists stated that he couldnʼt endure this provocation.

However, Davisʼs clenched fists loosened and drooped, and so did his killing intent.

”For a phoenix that has to value and respect relationships, even the relationships of others, you sure are the complete opposite. You are an embarrassment to the true heart of the Fire Phoenix Clan.”

”Aha~ Say what you want, but it doesnʼt change the fact that the world is there to be enjoyed by every single being born. However, not everyone is destined to be happy. Some donʼt even survive their birth, and many do not have a good bloodline or backing that props them up, so what makes you think a lowly being from the mortal world can stand above me, a majestic phoenix from the Fire Phoenix Clan?”

”The heights we would reach arenʼt the same. Almost all of the women you had will become my playthings, except for Shirley, of course. Sheʼs a grand phoenix. I will even bring her here so you can watch us mate, but… itʼs a pity youʼre going to die as soon as Venerable Warrior Zermatt appears before the clan and demands the scarlet orb-”

Abruptly, Patriarch Killian Zenflame went stiff. His gaze was still on Davis, looking at his purple-robed figure as though he had finally recognized something.

Looking at the drastic change in Patriarch Killian Zenflameʼs expression, Davis couldnʼt help but reveal a cold smile.

”Took you long enough to realize that Iʼm a soul body, and I was missing my scythe in my hand. Are you that drunk in power?”

”You…!”

Patriarch Killian Zenflame shuddered, ”Impossible! As soon as I captured you, the artifact should have shot toward the Fire Phoenix Clan! No one could catch us! Not even the sealing formation you planted is capable of stopping its return!”

”Hmm- yeah, about that… I took the Nine-Phoenix Locking Relic and left long ago while you were going on and on.”

Davis couldnʼt help but smirk, ”Although you still have control over this artifact, this artifact itself is in my grasp, unable to leave my palace.”

”You… youʼre lying!”

”In that case, why donʼt you go out and check?”

Patriarch Killian Zenflameʼs expression became blank while Davis couldnʼt help but shake his head.

”It seems like a menu with fried chicken and chicken legs is in store. Wait for me to collect some ingredients and come back to you.”

As he spoke, he dispersed into thin air, leaving behind a dumbfounded phoenix who abruptly released a threatening scarlet might.

”NO!”
